Gun Cleaning Kits

Used a gun cleaning kit on my pristine M4 for the first time. Checked the gun after and it was worn. I am wondering if the cleaning kit reduces the overall damage of the combined attachments or if this is a bug. Has anyone else experienced this? If it can be duplicated, I can document it in the proper section for the devs.

I had the exact same thing, I think it's a bug, But can't be sure as I don't know the mechanics behind the cleaning kits, I would think that it shouldn't do that though.

Yup, can confirm this happening, two times, once on a painted mosin and once on an unpainted one.

It's simple.

 

It's either intended: You disassemble a pristine gun and clean it, not really pristine anymore, as someone hinted above me.

 

Or it's a bug: The game actually SETS any weapon state to Worn, NOT pristine.

 

In any case, don't use a gun cleaning kit on any weapon that is WORN or better. It's not needed anyway.

Honestly cleaning a pristine weapon fresh from the factory or storage will improve it, Ever bought a mosin? They come CAKED with cosmolin, hell both mine could barley chamber a round when I got them, My AR wasn't as bad, but it still functioned better after cleaning.

Why would you need to clean a pristine weapon? If anything only if it gets below worn it shouldn't need cleaning and even then if you actively move from place to place you'll more than likely find a good replacement weapon.

Its a bug, if I remember right sacriel brough this up in one of his streams... word from the Dean or someone else from the devs.. cant remember excatly.
But it is a bug that the cleaning kit resets the value to worn regardless of what the previous value was, so if its ruined etc etc it changed to worn.

So cleaning kit = worn, atm.

Also I feel that cleaning kit SHOULD NOT change the weapon status, if its already changed... no cleaning kit can make ruined, damaged etc to worn. It should just reset the "uses" inside the certain damage level... so if you clean your gun it will stay worn, pristine should became worn always... but slower if cleaned.

What happens when you clean a damaged or badly damaged gun?

Why would you clean it if it's pristine?

I would expect that it would reduce the damage on a gun from damaged to worn and when you use it on pristine it resets it to worn.

If the kits arnt enough of a benifit who is really gonna waste the space and carry it? i know i wont.

 

I hope that eventually their is enough good items in the game that you will have to pick and choose out of helpful items what you will keep. (because you dont have the room)

 

I know its just alpha and we got a long way to go but as it is like half the items are not even usable/useful to carry around

 

example bandages, carry only rags. why tube bandages 4 uses, package bandaid is 1 use and rags 6 uses and cannot infect you atm plus rags have other uses too.

 

please make the cleaning kit worth the space or just wait to implement it. allready enough crappy loot taken up precious loot spawns.

You clean a gun in order to maintain its pristine condition.

A well cleaned lubricated gun is your friend.

Cleaning a pristine gun shouldn't even make it worn it should maintain it at pristine 

Other wise might as well bin the kits there pointless

 

What wares a gun out is use and abuse.

Example every 40 rounds fired it drops down a level if you don't maintain it.

it's a bug that cleaning an already pristine weapon changes its status to worn. honestly i'm not even sure if worn reduces its accuracy in any way-_-
