In the future, we should be able to create safezones for people to trade, learn and commune in.

I think that in DayZ with the 2 "mayor" factions; heroes and bandits. That we need to advance from this and end up to a place where people ( heroes ) can create safezones/build camps for people to rest, restock, trade, ect... Ofcourse, Bandits would be more atracted to those areas because of guaranteed people  coming there. But figure this, if you would make safezones, areas where people can relax, trade, perhaps teach fresh spawns how to survive. Maybe get a job in the safe zone ( hunting, fishing, gathering, ect) people will be more tempted to actively do stuff rather then just shoot others on sight. Maybe add a currency? ( i loved the bullet currency in Metro) Pay the people in the safezone for their job? Create small societies with each other. The same for bandits. Give us the ability to create camps, maybe allow us to cut wood and build simple shelters.

 

Ofcourse, these camps will lure bandits toward them. But then, when rocket reduces the amount of guns and ammo. Perhaps raiding the camps may be a bad idea.

 

It's a draft idea, Maybe a bit reffered to Epoch mod, but nonetheless. A good idea.

So i left this topic a bit open to discuss. And i knew some people would point out certain things and i let them. Here's a little thing;

 

There are no " barriers ". You can be killed in the safe zone. I used the term "safe zone" in that it's a camp build, walled off and protected from zombies and possible bandits. People would be able to enter, and trade items for items or items for currency. Nothing would be generated, everything has to come from the outside. This said, i do understand why other consider this a bad idea. However, there is always a risk of getting shot. The arguement stating that bandits would simply wait a bit back for people to wander off is the same as you going into balota,NWAF,Electro,Cherno or any other place that is popular, has lots of loot and has frequent activity.

I never said there aren't any strings attached going there

 

Now that the mayor issue here is answered. I'd say continue the discussions while i'm commenting on some of the other issues here on this idea.

The only way to create a safe area would to have a ring or armed people keeping it safe 24/7.

Sure why not as long as it is "man-made" and not scripted as Termi says.

 

But i doubt players will be exited to do everyday chores in a game since they do that already IRL...they just want to shoot shoot shoot.

this would be a very difficult thing to incorporate into the game without more problems erupting. I like the idea though!

Terrible idea. That shitty game WarZ did that. All people did was camp the gates and wait for people to leave. If you think the beaches in the game were bad...that would be terrible. Bad idea.

Already exist, Played on a server that had Berezino as an "Unofficial safe zone" or we have secured it as well as we can, Maybe when you get skills and a crew you can join servers and create safe zone for the new players to get used to that game, lone wolves don't have factions...

 

a virtual job, no thanks, I have one to many already.

Is this trolling? Or just what 1 million sales does to Dayz? The last things a raw pvp game needs is safe zones sorry, I could never get behind any game/server rules to enfoce them. Now if PLAYERS made this happen, that would be awesome!

There are no factions in the game. What are you talking about? There are only survivors and zombies. In my opinion, the Hero and Bandit thing was horrible.

I'd be for the idea of a structure which you would not be able to log into (ie; if you logged off inside it, when you logged on again you would be somewhere outside it). This would enable players who got together to perhaps have a chance at defending an area and/or making it safe for meetings and trading without the fear of players ghosting in. The building could be designed in such a way that people inside could not easily be sniped, attackers would have to make a frontal assault. There could even be many buildings like this dotted around the map.

any game mechanic that removes the ability of a player to do behave in the moral manner of their choosing goes against the concept of the game.

 

If there are to be safe zones, they have to be created and enforced by players, not the game.

 

that being said, what Dayz needs tools for the sandbox, not artificial barriers.

Not a fan of the black and white hero/bandit part. But a safezone dedicated to trading or something is a legit idea. The only problem is how it would get implemented. Not to mention that this would give griefers and trolls (8 y/o children) more ammo by just camping outside this zone.

No.

 

As others before me have stated, if you want a safe zone, create it. THAT`s the foundation of dayz. Nothing will be safe in the standalone as nothing is safe in real life.

There are "factions", actually. Player groups, or anything player groups revive.

 

And there will be safe zones. Factions will have their turfs after all. It just won't be anything scripted or artificial.

People always try and take over the cities and large areas. How about fortifying a smaller town just a little inland that has a pump and a supermarket and lots of residential buildings. I could see a group of ten players perhaps setting up a camp in a smaller town.

This 100%. I think eventually it will be encouraged for groups/clans to take over some areas, booby trap them etc to keep the best spawn points to themselves.

NO!

 

Seriously this suggestion is awful.  Look at how bad it is in Nether or WarZ.  People just camp them all day waiting for free loot.  Also you can follow someone out of the safe zone, kill them, and loot their shit from a safe spot.

 

No.  Just effin no.

 

As someone said, if someone wants to set up a safe haven and guard it themselves, that's perfectly fine, but there SHOULD NOT be areas in the game where people can't be killed or attacked, or anything that is "safe" from everything.

 

No..  Just no.
