gibonez 3633 Posted January 24, 2014 A we all know the new shotgun was introduced into the game. This civilian weapon is a fantastic addition and imo should be one of the most readily available and easiest to find guns in the game and ammo particularly birdshot should be relatively easy to procure. This weapon is a mainstay throughout the world quite easily the most versatile gun a person can own, you can hunt anything that walks or flies with a shotgun. So what shotguns and shotgun loads would you guys like to see make it into the game. Remington 870 Nice long barrel with an aggressive choke this duck gun maintains a night tight pattern out at a distance and can handle 3 1/2 magnum loads.Great accessory for shotguns would also be that shell holder mounted on the stock. Saiga 12 This russian shotgun is quite popular in the US as well as the world. This semi automatic shotgun loads from 10 round magazines as well as some high capacity drum mags. Now for loadings I would like to see. Wax Slug These home made shells are devastating and could take advantage of the crafting system.Say they add candles or crayons the recipe would beMatches + crayons + buckshot = wax slug. As you can see wax slugs are devastating since they contain their pattern within their slugs and when they hit their target all of the payload is distributed into the target.

drayson 158 Posted January 24, 2014 I don't know enough about shotguns to add anything constructive to this thread so I will provide a bump and beans because I like shotguns too.

gibonez 3633 Posted January 24, 2014 Mossberg 500's .. and yeah M870 ... hunting variations though. Yea I am hoping for hunting variations and home defense, police etc tons of variations. They can balance them by giving them real life attributes. duck hunting shotgun = tighter pattern so longer range more damage but the shotgun choke does not allow use of slugs has hunting regulated 3 round magazine tubesHome defense = Wider pattern , typical 4 to 5 round capacity usually outffited with a side rail and flashlight . can fire slugs or buckshotPolice shotgun = Normal pattern, extended tube normally found on department shotguns , holds over 7 rounds , ghost ring sights for good precision with slugs. They can easily balance the shotguns.
dallas 5195 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) In my opinion the only legit reason to implement bayonet attachments to firearms, if to prepare DayZ for different versions of combat shotguns, from classical trench guns to sexed up Mossbergs. But all kinds of civilian shotguns are welcome too. I'd rather see hunting weapons become commonly used, than every next survivor out there sporting highspeed AR variants. WastedSpaceman 65 Posted January 24, 2014 I think standard variations of hunting and typical home defense shotguns would be ideal. Modifiable parts for the fancier ones (pistol grip, breaching choke, rifled/smooth bore interchangeable barrels, ghost ring sight, weapon light attachment, etc.) and more types of ammo. The shotgun I keep at home for defense is loaded with Winchester PDX1 which is a particularly nasty load for a potential intruder to catch. But I doubt they would be available in the countryside of Chernarus after a zombie apocalypse. I think typical 2 3/4" 00 Buckshot, rifled slugs, and birdshot would be perfect if scattered around various civilian structures throughout the map, and more specialized rounds at military bases or something. If semi-automatic shotguns are introduced, I would absolutely like to see them behave appropriately. Finding random ammunition scattered about the countryside should result in weapon malfunctions like failure to eject (common in those types of shotguns when using inappropriate qualities of ammunition). Jamz 253 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Remington 870 This: or I'm no gun expert, but they seem to me to fit the game best. Edited January 24, 2014 by Jamz

I wanted to test out the slug types to see what the 2 types of ammo did.
WastedSpaceman 65 Posted January 24, 2014 Oh good to know. I didn't pay a lot of attention to what they had once I realized that they were just a waste of valuable bag space lol
gibonez 3633 Posted January 24, 2014 This: or I'm no gun expert, but they seem to me to fit the game best. Those two appear to be police/military variants they have a long tube that holds lots of shells. One I posted was ment for hunting ducks only holds 3 rounds because of hunting laws. Deathlove 2286 Posted January 24, 2014 Oh good to know. I didn't pay a lot of attention to what they had once I realized that they were just a waste of valuable bag space lolWell its pretty much the same with the 7. whatever rounds. No guns in game yet to even consider using them yet.

Yea from my experience birdshot usually doesnt even have enough gas pressure to cycle most of the semi auto shotguns I have fired.

GrappleX 354 Posted January 26, 2014 and where can I find a boom stick right now? I've found several of the double barrel shotguns in both TEC buildings and piano houses.
Deity 54 Posted January 26, 2014 I wouldn't mind seeing a 16 gauge shotgun. IRL they are basically the perfect combo of the 12 gauge in terms of power and the low kick/sound of a 20 gauge. It's a shame they aren't as common as they used to be.
