goroskob 48 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Animations == engine? Lolwut? Personally, I love Arma's animations and way how character feels. It is one of two games (second is Mount & Blade) where I can really feel that character has body, arms and legs, not only a flying camera. It was actually why I bought Arma, much before the very first release of DayZ Mod. Yes, there are some bugs and glitches, but I love controls in Arma and DayZ SA, for me they are just perfect. Deity 54 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Although I don't agree in general, he pointed out the MOST frustrating problem of this game. Not zeds, not performance issues, not having worst netcode ever, but the controls and animations. Still it's not a gamebreaking issue for me but it's surely a torture to fight your character to do something. Before you say "alpha!" let me point out this game is in developement for more than 1,5 years and they did it from scratch just to fix these kind of issues, now look what we got... even ArmA3 plays smoother than this... Anyway here's the video... That video makes me want to punch the reviewer in his dumb accented balls. Just because some people refuse to give something a shot and adapt to something different doesn't mean the game sucks. I had no issue with getting used to arms controls and I used to play BF series religiously. And besides, whats everyones favorite phrase? IT'S IN ALPHA. P.S. How does 62 other players play time account for their opinion or even out weight the fact over 1 million copies have been sold Edited January 23, 2014 by Deity
antonioajc 500 Posted January 23, 2014 I don't get it with horrible animations and other stuff. The game seems alright to me. The game can be a no brainer for most people and they go to buy it. Some just stay whining never to change.
Gandolaf 81 Posted January 23, 2014 Of course it is no,Rocket tells that everyone on Steam. But most people like me love it despite the lack of just about anything.
Ramblin Hans 118 Posted January 23, 2014 I consider my $30 bucks (in addition to what I invested in Arma to get the mod) like a kickstarter donation for the coolest concept game I've seen in over a decade. I didn't spend it for art, animations, level design etc...though I have faith that will come. I spent it to be part of one of the coolest, most open ended and uscripted PvP sandboxes ever.

'nuff said.EDIT: War Inc. engine better than ArmA 2's? really bro? [x2] My thoughts @ the reviewer:If you're gonna trash DayZ, fine. But if you're then gonna say WarZ is better in the same breath, a game Steam had to pull from their digital shelves because it was so bad...no one is going to take you seriously. You should know DayZ doesn't use the Arma 2 engine, it doesn't use the Arma 3 engine. It actually uses a custom engine which combines parts of both the Arma 2 and Arma 3 engine. If you read the disclaimer on the product page for DayZ, the game's creator Dean Hall actually discourages people from buying it, unless you truly understand what the term "Alpha" means and are prepared to deal with bugs and service interruptions. That said, DayZ is currently up to over 1.1 million sales. Must be doing something right. The problem is a lot of people don't understand what an Alpha is. People who complain about, "My character got wiped!" or "I died because of this bug!"...no, the Alpha is not for you. A lot of people have also bought into the hype (well deserved hype!) but don't know crap about DayZ. They start playing DayZ expecting it to be like their Call of Duty twitch shooter games and then start the waterworks once they realize DayZ is not the typical FPS epeening-fest that they're used to and complain, "There's no water anywhere!" (lol, there is plenty)There are plenty of gameplay videos, reviews, Let's Play, etc. by people that have actually played the game for more than a couple hours that go into great detail about both the good and the bad so there is more than enough information to decide if DayZ is for you before you buy it. And unlike WarZ/Infestation, you won't get permabanned from the forums/game for complaining about issues with the game much less daring to suggest it's anything but perfect.
Blackredorangefire 2 Posted January 23, 2014 This is, indeed, a GREAT game. I loved it so much before this patch. This patched really ruined it for me. I'm so upset that I can't even play. It seems everything is fucked up and made harder than it already is.

It seems everything is fucked up and made harder than it already is. This is along the lines of those bugs and service interruptions warned about on the game's disclaimer...the one right at the top of the game description. The devs are aware of the issues. Hashtag it gets better. :P

atmaca (DayZ) 48 Posted January 24, 2014 For those who finds pointless to review alphas, it's being explained. I also believe early access versions should be reviewed by means of current state compared to developement time and possiblity of keeping promises.
komadose 190 Posted January 24, 2014 you get the end product with that same price tag, so how the hell is it not worth it? the real question is; is it worth playing at it's current state? i personally enjoy it already. it's buggy, but it's actually much more playable than what those Steam warnings led me to believe. i didn't expect to enjoy it as much as i do at it's current state. wingman.edu 55 Posted January 24, 2014 It's a buggy incomplete world, but man is it fun... definitely a steep learning curve, but after 80 hours total I can say I truly love this game, and I'm really excited to see it continue to improve and grow over the next year. I can only imagine how many hours I'll already have racked up when it officially launches, and then continue to pile on hours. I'm really glad I spent the $30, totally worth it. Window Licker 504 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I saw someone mention WarZ/I:SS so being that I have played it I feel like I'm overly entitled to give my opinion, WarZ: I want my $8 and 2 hours of my life back.... DayZ: keep my $30 and 94 hours of my life. Edit: I played WarZ first, and that put me off buying DayZ for a while. Happy- 41 Posted January 24, 2014 Do not buy the game yet! The release of our Alpha is about getting those who want to be involved from the ground up, up and into the process. What we do encourage you to do, is to read reviews, watch livestreams and lets play videos, and talk to your friends. The alpha is going out into large scale testing for the first time, this means many things (mostly bad) will happen such as nasty bugs, connection issues, lost loot, etc... Our aim right now is to present the bare-bone architecture and check that works, getting some feedback on the direction in the process. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/153994-early-access-important-information-known-issues/ from rocket himself. cant deal ? then simply uninstall

Hethwill_Khan 233 Posted January 24, 2014 Controls are actually the least of my personal concerns but I understand it might be important to some folks. Controls are very important in a flight sim, so the physics are perfect. In a "infantry" simulator ? WASD + trackIR Video is a educated whine, nothing less. papazombie 25 Posted January 24, 2014 the background music in this video is great ;)It´s true the game is full of bugs but even si is better tan WARZ or RUST ;)
ninjacalypse 551 Posted January 24, 2014 This guy is a joke. He keeps saying it doesn't matter that DayZ is an Alpha, because he reviews games based on their current content. And yet, here's a comment he made about Rust:"I was not prepared to make the call this early into the development, I thought it would be better to just show the + & - at the moment" So, Rust which is an Alpha gets a pass but DayZ is "shit" and "awful." I'm sensing "just a tad" bit of...dare I say...hypocrisy? He repeatedly complains about the controls (I'm not saying they're perfect) and says, "The controls are shit, they're awful" but doesn't explain what he's talking about. He just complains about mouse acceleration. Some people may have issues with that but I've got a 1600DPI mouse, it ain't exactly top of the line but I haven't had these issues. I think perhaps he's having more issues with the fact that DayZ is more than just your standard WASD/12345/Ctrl/Shift game. Not to mention in most of the video he runs around with his hands raised/weapon raised apparently unaware that it slows you down. And he says, "Don't take my word for it" and that his friends on Steam have only played the game for 1-2 hours which "says everything" apparently. I'm somewhat doubtful this guy even spent an hour himself playing DayZ. Wow...it definitely sounds like he knows what he's talking about. Hell, I'm sold! I definitely don't need to hear from anyone that has ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME for more than 1-2 hours.
Gekkonidae 270 Posted January 24, 2014 Even with the documented issues, it is still one hell of a fun game! My gripe is none of those, my gripe is when I press 1, or 2, or 3 to pull out whatever weapon I have in that slot, it sometimes will immediately be taken out, or sometimes it will take 30 button mashes to get the damn thing in my hands. Iv'e also had where it just wont equip into my hands and I have to go into inventory, drag and drop to get the "you are already doing something" message, and then the hot bar key works. ALPHA! LOL! Was just talking to my friend about this. I hate when i'm in a really intense situation and i'm mashing 1, 2 or 3 saying "c'mon you fucking gun! GET INTO MY HANDS NOW!!!" dallas 5195 Posted January 24, 2014 "It can't be denied that the actual engine of that game(WarZ) was better than DayZ." To call Warz anything but a lazy mod for War Inc. is a kindness of unheard proportions that leaves mother Theresa blinded with tears. How massively retarded are you legally allowed to be on youtube?
