Is this how it is for new players? Or is it just me?

I'm impressed by a few things. Let me elaborate:

 

1. I read the first two sentences of your post and stopped. I then skimmed down to the bottom because it was way to long of a novel for me to hear another person bitchin' about the game. What caught my eye was that you said something about being too hard and maybe not the game for you and that you didn't mind the dying constantly and what not. I went back to the top and read your whole post and I enjoyed it

 

B. All of the responses have been great from others. I was expecting a lot of "Fuck off", "Eat a bag of cocks", and the like. (It is kinda early tho so we won't hold our breaths.)

 

3. The only advice I can really give you besides the obvious Alpha is that you should try downloading the Mod and playing it for a bit. I think that is what you might be looking for as in terms of action and gameplay. If you bypassed the Mod strictly to buy and play the SA , then I guess that would be your choice.

 

And D. I love the mod and all the great times I had on it, as well as all the shitty times and bugs. Those compare nothing to how SA is now. It is hard and frustrating, but I knew that coming in as did all of us. I have had great times so far and believe that everyone can enjoy the game. If it's not your cup of tea then that is good for you to find out early. I hope to hear more of your adventures if you stick with this or decide to play the Mod, if you haven't already. There are many resources that others have provided so definitely take advantage. Good Luck!

2.  Go north just about any time

 

If you do either of these, you will find stuff.  Items currently only RESPAWN on a server RESTART.  The closer you are to the coast, the less stuff there is.

i coast hug all the time, for interactions (i'm not a bandit, i normal get killed :P), after 1st hour, there is not much left on the coast

Well I guess i did just have a stretch of bad luck on my first day in game. I played today and took everyones advice. I headed inland instead of on the coast. Found some pretty good stuff. Played for about 2 hours or so. had a fire axe back pack, pleanty of food ect. It was fun. Got the hang of killing zombies down. I evenmet a guy who was not a dick. all tho I think it may have been the fact he didnt have anything and I had an axe. Who knows. I shared some food with him and he took me to a couple of places. After we split i alt tabbed out to look at the map. Came back and a zombie had me. Oh well. Still had a good time while it lasted. Guess I will try again later. Hopefully i can find a gun! lol

Play it for at least 20 hours before making any conclusions. Try to get some good gear. No other shooting game will ever be the same :D

You Sir are an example for others in this community, receiving advice and acting on it, good lord!  Despite some of the less helpful things posted here by folks (yes including myself) it's good to see advice heeded and a positive outcome.

Spartan's guide is very good.

Also you got to be ultra quick when checking the map, and If you have to go for a pee or grab a drink, but don't want to log out then make sure you are away from houses and roads when you leave the room.
