How would the shotguns be any different from the Revolver?

Recommended Posts

Shotguns are stereo typically a one shot kill weapon at close range, to my knowledge the current state of the revolver is the same so what is the point of using a shotgun when you can just use the revolver that has a surprisingly high rate of fire and is a one shot kill.

For one thing there is a lot more shotgun slugs than .357 bullets lying around.

I often need 3-4 revolver shots in chest to kill a player from 5 meters.

Same with shotgun....

Revolver is better then shotgun yeah.

Because although the magnum is badass the shotgun is more badass, it's science so don't worry if you don't understand :)

Thk u ;)

While i love both, shotguns (ONLY pump-action-ones, or ones with style, such as Winchester or the Boomstick,) for cool one hitting and pump actions for their badass-"reload", and revolvers,

i prefer revolvers always a little bit more.

They are powerful, look damn good, and still are quite handy and fire fast enough

I dig your style, man.

You got a whole cowboy thing doing...

Sorry, I just had to! O_O

I prefer the shotgun and the revolver for many reasons:

1)Simple, ie do not require magazines (shared trait with the mosin) If I find ammunition for the weapon, I can load it immediately and fire it, unlike weapons with external, detachable magazines. This simplifies my survival logistics, always a plus in my book.

2) dependable. In real life, shotguns with certain actions (break-open and lever action come to mind) and revolvers are famed for their reliability ie, resistance to jamming. If some sort of jamming mechanism is eventually added, I would expect fully cyclic and semi-auto weapons to jam, while weapons like the mosin, shotguns, and revolver to never jam.

3) Reliable. I know what sort of damage a 12 gauge shot shell/slug should do to an unarmored target, same with a .357 magnum round. Similarly, I can make a reasonable assumption as to their "behavior" and accuracy in a combat situation, unlike the M4, which currently sprays bullets like an old alchy with shakes pissing on a wall.

Magnum > shotgun

1. 6 shots vs 2.

2. Auto loader for both but still a 6 shot reload for the magnum.

3. 2 x 2 inventory space requirement vs 2 x 5 (sawed off shotgun).

4. Longer range than a shotgun.

5. Fits in a pants pocket, shirt pocket, chest holster, camo vest, and your backpack as a secondary vs primary or in your backpack as a sawed off shotgun.

Shotgun has spray, you can fire from the hip/while moving and cover an area in front of you :)

And its cooler. but its tough, because magnum is also cool....

Shotguns remind me of playing Doom. I liked Doom.
They're also pretty good for firing 'in the general area' of someone aiming while you run around like headless chicken

It doesn't matter if you hit them and you'll probably die trying but it's fun all the same.

They added in the new .357 bullet boxes. So you get allot more in them.

Hunting shotgun should have noticeable better range then revolver.

Plus you can load slugs into shotgun making it even better at range.

So where's your magnum now? Still good at like 50 meters max in usual fight.

To clear things out, I'd like having both long shotgun and revolver.

There are no people in the world for whom a revolver is reliable combat weapon at 50m range.

15 meters is more like it, and even then hitting with a revolver from 15 meters at a moving target while being shot at? Going to be very hard.

The shotgun is most effective at 30 meters, beyond that it becomes quite hard to use: http://www.chuckhawks.com/where_spread2.jpg

One word: hunting.

Revolvers for players. Shotguns for small game and animals. I imagine there will be slugs added to the game at some point making the shotgun more versatile.

I want the slug rounds to work now plez xD

As I am oft slow some one confirm the sawn off can be a secondary of a sorts? It fits into a bag and occupies 10 spaces total?

correct. it also offers great accuracy when fired from the hip at short range with pellets, even while moving.

the damage per pellet is not much, but some may very well hit the head and death/unconsciousness will be instant

the downside being that the target is rendered pretty much worthless to loot unless you aim high.

currently using an LR scoped mosin for primary with a sawed-off as secondary/close quarters.

again, the main advantage of the sawed off is that you will probably hit something if you fire in the general direction, from the hip, at 50m.

not many other things capable of similar effect currently.
