I was in a few Mexican standoffs just last night. They were all resolved verbally with all players going their separate ways. No injuries or casualties somehow. Deliberately putting a building or tree between the players fields of fire is a nice safeguard during negotiations.

I was in a very short one the other day. There was a geared and camo'd player sneaking around Solnichniy with his M4 raised, I peeked the corner and he pointed at me. So I shot him in the belly, he fired 2 wide shots and ran away. I later salined him and apologized.

The term refers almost exclusively to three parties, which brings the unique scenario that firing first is almost NEVER in your best interest. Assuming the shots are lethal and accurate, being the first to fire means you'll take down one of your two opponents, but the remaining baddie will usually get the drop on you before you can acquire your second target. Of course there are exceptions, and sometimes if you've got a real pair of stones you can pull it off-- but by and large, being the first to open fire still ends up putting you in a grave.

How about just shooting as many people as you can, and then get the fuck out of there, if you're still alive? That should have been option D. Usually in a standoff, i'll ask someone what they want and as soon as they start talking I shoot them. Best head start ever, and every bitch has something stupid to say.
