How long does it take for a new server to appear in the server browser

Recommended Posts

Rented a server on the 16th and been told that it will take time for it to appear in the in-game server browser. Can anyone advise roughly how long it is likely to take. It'll show up under the remote tab if I enter the ip/port but even after playing on it it doesn't show in my history either.

If anyone can throw me a bone I'd be grateful

Cheers

Whats the servername?
Could check if i can see it, if you want to mate.

But honestly im not sure how long it takes, i guess thats a matter of how fast SteamWorks are with stuff like that :)
They swapped Gamespy serverlisting to SteamWorks, so its not like the mod at all :)

But i cant give you a definate answer though.

Got mine through Multiplay, the name of it is 'ZombieSkelper.com', ip/port is 85.236.100.114:2802. When I enter the ip/port in the remote tab it comes up as DayZ 1-109. Just doesn't appear in the browser, Multiplay say it takes a while but 4-5 days seems excessive.

The strange thing is it's been quite busy for a new unadvertised server, had 7 players on it the other day, not sure how they found it though.

Ok just tryed with theese search word for host ingame:

ZombieSkelper

Skelper

Zombie

1-109

109

Nothing showed up. - Remote works fine, like you say though.
But i did notice you are running port 2802, where the standard is 2302, i dont know if it has anything to say, but maybe it "fucks" with the serverlist somehow.
It would be worth looking into, if the server isnt on the list afther the 4-5 days, like they promissed :)

Might well be the port, i'll give it another couple of days and see if it appears.

Cheers for checking, much appreciated.

Servers should be up as soon as they got paid. If you did pay with paypal for example then it is just a matter of a few hours (depending on the time when you order it).

It was available to play on pretty quickly, just not in the browser.

There have always been issues with servers not showing up in the browser and I doubt the browsers coding has changed much.

So, what I would recommend would be to make sure you are browsing "INTERNET" games, and not "LAN".

Second I would check your filter, and set your ping high and make sure nothing else is "set" to anything, like a server name, so the list will show fully.

Last but not least, refresh the list, and wait till it is fully populated, THEN, go back in and type your server name, or even just a few letters incase you mispelled it.

If your server is still not showing up, but playable then something is wrong.  Always give it 24 hours just incase it is something as simple as a cache not being reset somewhere so it's not showing up.  If it's still not showing up after 24 hours I would contact your host.

I assume you already have the issue resolved, but I'm letting other know.

If you rent your own server and actually paid for it you will get login-information to log in to an Administratorpanel allowing you to atleast change the timezone of the server and the branding of the server (not the complete servername).

You should also be able to Start / Stop your server.

Make sure your Server is actually started - and if you do not get an Adminpanel along with your rented server I wouldn't bother staying with that hostingcompany, as that's the least thing you should be able to do.

Just want to add, you cant compare the mod server listing to the SA server listing mate.

The mod used gamespy, which was utter BS tbh, and the SA is using steamworks for it, so its a totally different system :)

The "transfer" of this could have a impact on stuff like this, but i cant say for sure, as im not to familiar with steamworks and how it works :)

Good point, that is my bad, I didn't really mean the browsing system in specific.  I should have been a little more generic instead.  Maybe I should have just omitted that comment, considering I don't know that there is any relation between the MoD server listing issues and the SA. However, while the listing systems have changed, definitely for the better, the way servers operate and "load" have alot of similarity.  I know they are completely different in many aspects now, but there are some things that are run the same way as before.  I wasn't pointing the finger at that being the problem, I was just saying, right now no one knows, but we do know there were problems in the MoD, and somethings are very similair, so perhaps the problem could just be an inherent server bug related to something minute that hasn't changed.  Or it could be completely on the server hosts' end, something they never changed because it didn't need changing.  I dunno.  I was just throwing some guesses out there.

Either way I'm glad you solved your problem Irongiant.
