We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

Recommended Posts

You can scout out Elektro or patrol the woods on the south-east coast. Bandits and murderers are usually very easy to spot, because they are usually the guys killing all the unarmed people. In DayZ the only rules is what you, yourself are able to justify. If someone threatens you, you're justified. If someone kills a helpless survivor, you're justified. If someone has gear you want, you're justified.

...... no no and ... no !

If you want this, lets playz another mods like origins ( very cool then ), but stop crying.

If you put bad guys and good guys you are going to kill the game.

Wow, wow now. That guy is obviously an expert, i'd like to hear from the genius who wrote that amazing post. This is my opportunity to  expand my knowledge.

Clearly you must be unable to see the irony of my post. Clearly you are questioning my intelligence. I do belive you are in way over your head, son.

We just need to keep our guard up and look at player behavior, rather than what they say. If someone says: "Friendly" while pointing a rifle at your head, black hat or white hat, he'll always only be a click away from killing you. If someone keeps a respectful distance to you and places his axe on his shoulder or lowers his fists, it's an indication of something less threatening.

Still no matter what, you always have to be alert and ready to move.

Once again, we're back to:

KOS Easy Mode = All the Advantages, Kill Everyone You See

Hero Mode = All the Disadvantages, follow people around, sneak up and say HI FRIENDLY, hope you don't get shot / axed to death for helping

The Armband System would balance it out.  You'd have a chance to be a hero without being a bullet / axe sponge.

Nothing else will lessen the KOS.  KOS is the lowest common denominator.  It feeds on itself.  After you get killed 3-4 times trying to help people, or even NOT trying to kill them, most players say "screw it" and start KOSing themselves.  That feeds more KOS into the system.  Then the cycle repeats, until you get the KOS Deathmatch that Standalone has become.

The Armband System will not dictate how you play.  You can still do whatever you want.  You can TAKE OFF the armband.  It just allows heros to play as heros without being bullet / axe sponges.

I really LOVE that Rocket's videos all have a bunch of friendly players that he meets in a private locked server.....lol  I would love it even more if he went into a full public server and ran around Electro or Cherno for a couple of hours.  It would be a shit video and not a good advertisement for the game, because he'd get KOS'd over and over and over.  I would love to see Rocket getting chased for 20-30 minutes by some 12 year old with an axe.

The guy doesn't play on any public servers?  That explains a bit then on development decisions.  When you can prevent the general internet douche bags from ruining your play time, then you have no problem.

Whoops, sorry for the double post.

I like the idea too, something needs to be done about KOS issues and I just find it unfortunate that the creator doesn't play on public servers so he can get the 'experience' that the rest of us get dealing with the worst examples of humanity from the internet.

I consider hypocritical whiney players who want a magical armband to give them easy mode when dealing with other players the lowest common denominator...

He might be playing in some public servers, but those are not the ones he's live streaming to the universe.

I'm sure that it's already been discussed by the dev team that they're not going to get "chased by a 12 year old with an axe" for 30 minutes during a live stream.

Or to have Rocket spawn 10 times and get murdered 9 of the 10 times as a fresh spawn before he can actually link back up with his guys.  Not gonna happen.

That's just bad advertising.  I don't blame them for it.  It would be hilarious to watch, but not a good way to sell the game.

I wish they'd address the KOS issue with some sort of humanity system.  It can even be just for "private servers".  I don't care what the Vanilla folks want to do.  If you look at DayZ Commander there's 2.5 TIMES the number of Epoch servers than there is Vanilla.  That should tell you what the community WANTS and is willing to PAY for.  Seems like the majority of the PAYING customers want more than Vanilla, yet in the forums the Vanilla folks are all raging NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

I guess it's called hero, because it's the hard choice.

I'm definitely not playing as a hero, I'm not seeking out other players to help them out, but I do play by a code to never take hostile action first. This one rule I have, I bend and twist to fit the situations and to justify my actions.

Even the old humanity system could be exploited and half the hero skins I meet turned out to be bandits. Heroes needs to be more focused on the behavior of the players they meet, rather than blindly trusting someone saying "friendly" or wearing a white hat.

If someone respectfully keeps a safe distance, it's a positive indication.

If he closes in to get within melee rage, you need to treat him as a threat.

The hard part isn't to play as a bandit or a hero, the hard part is doing so, while staying alive.

jeepers mate you still don't get it, it's your actions that define you as a hero or bandit not what you wear. Not every clown wears a mask, bandits wear plaid, nothing is cut and dried, in fact most people dunno what part they are playing even after they analyse what happened leading to their death, you have to use your instincts to decide what the person is you encounter and sometimes you get it wrong it doesn't matter. no one is getting out alive. there is no endgame, death is the end of the game.

I love KOS as it makes the game hard. If I wanted a game that was easy, well shit I wouldn't because that would be so dull.

Stop trying to dumb the game down to the lowest common denominator.

If you want Lame I hear WarZ is still going...

You also can't fix a broken leg with morphine.  Great job arguing for 100% pure realism.  Some things need to be changed to facilitate gameplay.

You can bury this thread, but keep raging against the 1 million KOS posts / threads, that seems to be working good right?  Congrats!

The fact that you NEED a definitive way to determine someone's playstyle makes you not cut out for this game.

End of story.

EDIT: I also love the fact that this guy labels anyone who disagrees with his P.O.S idea as a KoSer that has no spine.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

KOS removes the ability to be a hero without being a bullet sponge.

Lowest common denominator is KOS, in case you don't know what that means, look up those big words in the dictionary.....lol  If you don't know what a dictionary is, ask mommy and daddy to help you.

WarZ is KOS as well.  But at least you had several characters you could play with, so you don't have to run 15,000 meters / 1 hour to get back to your group.  You could fight it out, and get back into the fight on another character.  You could actually PVP as a group, in the same area.

And I can play KOS all day long, if you ever played WarZ our group OWNED Smallville.  If you came within sight distance of the town you were dead.  We murdered everything that moved.  Geared or not, friendly or not.

I'm hoping that DayZ will be more than one giant KOSfest like WarZ.

And thanks to all the NO NO NO NO NO folks who keep replying to the thread.  Helping keep it visible, GJ nubs!

Oh yes, because the threads that stick around the longest are the threads that Rocket and the rest of the dev team have no choice but to follow and consider implementing. You're doing great buddy.

So i and my compadre Cyril were in Cherno boarding up the Burger King for the night -- but we had no food

A lone survivor appeared, as if conveniently placed for the purpose of narrative ... So i strolled over to this friendly trendy fellow to trade some beans for his corn that he had been raising on yonder big farm to the north...

I noticed from the big green dorito above his head he was friendly...  and the general was screaming in my ear.. GO TO FLAG C...  shit wrong game, back to my story..

So he said he was friendly and i was about to pay for the corn in kind, into his corn... When all of a sudden i got lit up by delta squad hiding in the treeline behind him.

Delta squad rushed out the tree  and all of those shitheads had red doritos and red armbands... but they were talking like they were friends?

DEVS PLAZ FIX MORALITY SYSTEM

Moral of the Story:   Your system is flawed

It's not a perfect system, but it's better than the KOS culture that is forced into this game.

The bandit playing as a hero would never get to murder the heros, or he'd rapidly transition to bandit.  Not very fun for a KOSer right?

Maybe negate the humanity repeated kills on the same person?  That way you couldn't "farm your friends" for humanity so you could be a fake hero?

And no, it doesn't mean that they WILL implement it, but it means they WILL see it, and consider it.

Oh, you KNOW they'll consider this after they see it huh? It's just THAT goddamn good.

I'm done with this guy. I haven't even addressed his topic nor' his points and I already disagree with him.

Goodbye.

Yeah, 'cause this is definitely the first time anyone has posted a similar idea. They definitely haven't been reading ideas like this every week for about two years. They will consider it for the very first time ever after reading your awesome post.

Are you even reading your own posts at this point? It's getting a bit fucking comical here on page 30 dude. Have some dignity and let your idea stand on its own instead of posting every 30 seconds about how awesome it is. If it was such a great idea, you wouldn't need to be in here reminding everyone of how great it is over and over again.
