Canned Muffins 82 Posted January 16, 2014 Lately me and a few of my pals have been patrolling the coast looking for player interactions. Our premise and goal is to prevent murderers from killing fresh spawns but also for us to stop new spawns and help them out with food and water. We give out gear and even weapons both melee and firearms. The trick we have found with giving out firearms is to first and most obviously find players who are generally cooperative and non threatening. Then we interact with them and give them a firearm at the end of the interaction with only a single round chambered. So if they do choose to turn on us and harm us they only have a single loaded shot to hit 3-5 of us with. So far we have had very little trouble with these methods and have had many more friendly and productive interactions. Our group continues to grow with both veteran and newer players to the DayZ world.
Inception. 9443 Posted January 16, 2014 Nice stuff. Have any of you died during this?
Areos (DayZ) 106 Posted January 16, 2014 A while ago in the original mod, a group of buddies and I reverse-robbed a low-geared player. We jumped and cornered him in a building, threatened to shoot him if he made any sudden movements and forced him into the corner of the room. We then proceeded to fill his inventory with food and water, survival equipment and weaponry before dispersing out of the building and back into the woods. We were kind of bored.
Canned Muffins 82 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Nice stuff. Have any of you died during this?We fell into a trap ourselves once and it was because there were only two of us approaching a new spawn. We followed him down the coast from electro to cherno and he noticed us and ran. He was faster and got away (so we thought) then we noticed him again and we offered him food and water seeing as he had no gear of his own. We start talking and giving him food and water then we hear him say "Now!" and two players from behind a bush and tree fully geared shot and killed me and my single partner instantly. We heard them talked briefly and him saying that he was bait.I was impressed that we let our guard down enough to fall into this baited trap but I also was sort of sad because they could have robbed us without killing seeing as we were giving away items. It was our fault for not taking into account our full surroundings and not being more careful. Now were are 3-5 strong on any interaction and we only announce that there are 2 of us. The other 3 are two snipers and one close combat support member.Since then we have been relatively safe and without to much trouble. Greaves 131 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I don't give out guns, just food and water. Giving out a gun is begging to be killed. Really depends. If the player we encounter is new to the game, and is obviously shitting himself at the mere sight of us, or just all around sad because he never found a gun yet, we give him one. With precautions, ofcourse. Edited January 16, 2014 by Greaves
Canned Muffins 82 Posted January 16, 2014 it seems you're part of about 1% of this game's community that tries to be creative in the way they play it. i bet nearly everyone you come across tries to attack you as soon as they see youI find as long as they are generally unarmed or have only what appears to be a melee weapon then when we approach or catch them by surprise they are willing to talk and interact. We do our best to show our intentions are not ones that will result in them dying. We don't make them disarm or get handcuffed and that gives them a sense of security enough so that we can help them. I have run into a very bold person once who was a fresh spawn and who tried to knock me out and who chased me around an urban area. He ignored 3 of my warning to stop chasing and attaempting to hit me. That encounter he said nothing and it resulted in him having a quick trip back to the coast and myself with two less .357 rounds. I wanted to give him food and a weapon yet he choose to be greedy and attempted to get all of my stuff. I find as long as my group sees a person or smaller group first and we are clear and persuasive in showing them that we are no threat then we can diffuse even most armed players.

Pandema 352 Posted January 16, 2014 I've tried the whole "be nice to coastals" thing. So far its gotten me killed a bunch because they're the most ungraetful lot of people I've ever met "Here, have enough food and water to feed a small nation!" *punched once in the head* YOU ARE UNCONSCIOUS YOU ARE DEAD
PhillyT 554 Posted January 16, 2014 My group and I do this up and down the east coast. Of course, I was just moving to meet them just now and got gang assaulted by bambis! Stick in groups for this sort of thing and fight the good fight!

Mcleane 24 Posted January 17, 2014 Nice man I hope this venture carries on bearing fruit, Me and my group of friends used to go down to Balota to try and stop the massive deathmatch that used to occur because you were always guaranteed to find fresh spawn killers down that way, the problem with doing that though is if we spent too long down there clearing it we would then be mistaken for the fresh spawn killers.
