twingunz 308 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Posted this a few days ago in general never realised there was an suggestion section (oops)I don't know if this is on the cards i've yet to see any information about it but i would love to see quality of carbs matter and by that i mean whole foods vs simple sugars a sugar is basically a temporary carbohydrate that burns quickly whereas fibrous and protein rich foods are a slower longer lasting Carb source at the moment i can have some cans of soda and fill my hunger up fairly easily i'd love it for in the future if simple sugars such as the sodas only lasted 15-20 minutes. Basically what i'm saying is certain foods should be more filling for longer not just be a higher carb level but also affect the rate at the carbs are burnt based on the type of carb the food is you are digesting! Quality of food is important and i think it should matter more; it will also create a new dynamic as better quality foods will be more sort after other than just slaming a few cans of soda and being fine to run across the full map, for example when meats come into play from hunting they would be able to sustain you for much longer due to protein taking days to fully digest when in comparison to the 30-40 minutes it takes for your body to burn up simple sugars e.g sodas, candy etc. before you say ALPHA!!! i know this is an idea not a complaint haha!I don't think the game should go into the full macronutrient level (although i personally would love it if they did go as deep as macros as it'd make for players with better understanding of health and nutrition to able to have healthier characters, same as how players with medical knowledge have an advantage in the medical department with the deeper medical system that is coming, etc) but i feel carb quality is simple enough for everyone to grasp (it's better to have a steak than it is to have a soda; logical enough) and creates deeper less shallow gameplay when it comes to food sources. broguenz 333 Posted January 13, 2014 Read this man if you haven't already. Its a pretty in depth system for a game (Im still not sure how this guy knows all this as a matter of fact but..)I think what your getting at is implemented in that some foods provide more energy and therefore decrease the time it takes to reach certain thresholds.Effectively creating short and long chain carbs. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-merinos-in-depth-video-guides-updated-jan-7th-how-much-do-i-really-have-to-eat-and-drink/

Its a pretty in depth system for a game (Im still not sure how this guy knows all this as a matter of fact but..)I think what your getting at is implemented in that some foods provide more energy and therefore decrease the time it takes to reach certain thresholds.Effectively creating short and long chain carbs. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-merinos-in-depth-video-guides-updated-jan-7th-how-much-do-i-really-have-to-eat-and-drink/Thanks dude, yeah i've read that and watched the videos already but i don't recall there being a mention of quality or how carbs are used as far as i'm aware currently all carbs are rounded into the same category and take the same time to burn just the food provides more or less carbs than others as in 2 soda cans = 1 tin of beans making it about how much you need to consume not how the food actually effects you; where in real life (i know it's a game i swear haha) a soft drink or bag of chips has more carbs than a burrito or sandwich yet the sandwich or burrito in real life will sustain you for longer even with less carbs due to the fact it's not a simple sugar but instead mainly fiber and protein. Please correct me if i am wrong just going by how i thought the game system currently works, but i'd love to see a more true to life basic food system i feel it would be more interesting and important as at the moment i can just spam some cans of drink and it'll all even out no matter what i am eating which in my opinion is kind of silly. liquidcactus 719 Posted January 13, 2014 its been talked about in detail but yes its definitely on the cards.. for example at the moment drinking a soda oppose to water doesnt quench your thirst much but it gives u a small sugar boost
Korsbaek 1778 Posted January 13, 2014 Aaaand breath. Dem full-stops man! I like the idea though, but as Rogue said, it has already been partially implemented.
DropBearChick 1217 Posted January 13, 2014 It's sort of already implemented example 1 would be crunching crisps give you more energy than bake beans because cereal has more energy but bake beans gives you a small amount of water because that is an ingredient whereas cereal is completely dry because your eating straight from the box without milk.
twingunz 308 Posted January 13, 2014 Aaaand breath. Dem full-stops man! I like the idea though, but as Rogue said, it has already been partially implemented.haha yeah i never proof read till after i post (always editing) i should really stop that and proof before post but i know i wont :PHopefully they do keep adding to the current system as even now it's interesting, i just want more as i'm greedy! It's sort of already implemented example 1 would be crunching crisps give you more energy than bake beans because cereal has more energy but bake beans gives you a small amount of water because that is an ingredient whereas cereal is completely dry because your eating straight from the box without milk.Agreed! i do like the current system and the base of it is perfect in my opinion i don't want to change that at, i just like the idea of adding quality of carbs as well so sugars burn faster. Meaning soda isn't as appealing as a food source as it is currently due to it providing a faster burning carb making me actually try and find more substantial foods that burn slower and keep me going longer, other than downing four sodas and it being good to go for another few hours! Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 13, 2014 I think this will come when the ability to hunt animals for meat is implemented and more food sources are available.
