  1. 1. Should Cannibalism be in DayZ

I think it would be in BUT it would destroy all items the person was carrying so you cannot pick them up but your hunger will be filled

If you take an item you can' eat the body.

Firstly,I wanna see a human arm and leg in my inventory. :D

But eating human meat should be a last resort in a world stripped of food sources and forcing players to succumb to an eventual unavoidable death unless highly persistant in the looting of the whole map.Cannibalism should come with an annoying consequence like the shake from pain that is not cureable with pain killers but rather player must survive a long time in game to eliminate it.A way to prolong your virtual life that has a + of allowing you to keep looting coupled with the - of causing you to shake for a very long time. But its Rockets game and honestly I feel he will just take the easy way out and have canned foods and drink be abundant and just have the emergent gameplay come from people killing/robbing/poisoning each other....which that alone seems to make alot of people happy.

Bad Idea, the only people you'd take meat from is fresh spawn's... Everyone else has a backpack with ton's of food in it... This would only make people KoS fresh spawns more, and worse, they would just use it as an excuse. If you are starving in the game your probably new... There is no reason to starve at all.

Also from my understanding, people will be able to hunt game and farm along with a few other ways to make food. The Idea of cannibalisim isn't really something that the game needs. If anything it would be more for shock and awe they a necessary means for survival.

EDIT:

They don't even cannibalize on the Walking Dead series, they risk their lives to go get food in stores and schools just like in this game. Rick even tried to raise some pigs, and planted a crop..

ahahahahahaha you're basing your statement on the Walking Dead TV series, not the actual Walking Dead. I won't spoil things, but yeah... You're way off on that front.

I'd be down for it as long as it had negative consequences. Human beings are disgusting creatures, so infections and illnesses should be rampant among cannibals. The shaking should be a huge thing, which would actually add to the immersion for the people playing as cannibals.

If that's the life you're choosing, you shouldn't be able to snipe, or fire guns well at the midrange. Once you've committed the act, you should be resigned to CQC as your means of procuring more meat. It'd be awesome to be able to identify them, maybe make their skin covered in sores or something of the sort.

That way, they'd become sort of a 3rd faction of players. You'd have your heros, your bandits, and your cannibals.

I don't really think it matters what I base it off, since it's what I watch man.. Just saying regardless of your comic book obesession they don't do it on the T.V. Series, which mean's it's probably not necessary either way. You can still farm, hunt, cook, and loot.. once again, it's nothing more than an excuse for assholes to be assholes..

An more to the point, with so many negitive side effects, why fucking do it anyway? It makes about zero sense by all logic imaginable. Just go eat a rotten banana or something because it so far sounds about the equivalant.

oh god comic book obsession haha ok

If you're basing what you want from the zombie genre off of that TV show, then there isn't much I can do for you.

As for the negatives, they're the only way that this would make sense within this sort of simulation. In this game, there isn't really incentive to do anything, that's sort of the point. It's a sandbox. This would just add another toy to the sandbox, with it's own set of drawbacks in return for additional choices. It won't make a huge deal to me either way, but I figure there's no harm in spitballing ideas.

Orlok, you in for some casual cannibalism?

I have seen a documentary on that one, and as stated by me the example that springs to mind, when Cannibalism is brought up. These people are mentally scarred for life, and it was a situation way more extreme, than anything we would ever have in DayZ. There was nothing to feed on, just barren mountains, snow and ice. Yet within the 70 days or so, they ate the dead that were preserved through the rough climate. So again a different situation than in DayZ. Nobody could or would have eaten if the plane had crashed in an environment and climate like Chernarus.

People need to apply common sense to this feature before they vote. People advocating it can now only refer to the sandbox argument and consuming the meat immediately after killing, which would just openly advocate murder. DayZ should give opportunities, but should not allow thousands of people to play as the totally mental psychotic killer.

I agree there should be an option to cannibalise a body, but there would be possible side effects like shaking hands etc - Kuru disease i think it's called?

I mean if there is a body and you have the means to cut off some meat i would like to see the option.

Kuru does not happen because you eat a dead body.

The reason the disease spread in Papua New Guinea was because people were eating the flesh of those already infected with it thus contracting it themselves. Those infected were then in turn eaten by others and the disease spread in the small island.

If you eat non infected fresh human flesh you will be perfectly fine , no shakes, no disease.

Anything that has eaten lots of meat in its life, will generally taste like rotting meat. Eat a bear, they don't taste so good. Eating humans is purely survival desperation if you are starving. Or provides lulz to bored players.

It is cool but it could cost serious damage to the reputation of the game.

Especially in countries like Germany and Australia, it would be an instant ban.

So? Underdeveloped countries that don't recognize free speech will keep banning controversial media.

Meanwhile, the controversy will generate a lot of guerrilla marketing for the game and probably sell more copies. Just like it did for GTA back in the 90s.

With the game as it stands I cant see it making any sense. I'd rather see hunting and food cooking/gathering introduced personally.

Fallout New Vegas has an option to eat dead guy's meat. It wasn't banned.

It all depends, of course. And keep in mind that all ragdoll animations etc. in FNV were removed or altered for the german version. There was a perk, I remember, but that one was tied to a heavy Karma and/or Reputation loss. Wasn't there a similar quest in Skyrim, too? Where you would escort a person to a feast of cannibals? It all depends on how they picture it, and if the Devs are willing to change certain things.

By the way, a ban would certainly not increase revenue, by way of guerilla marketing. The vast majority of possible buyers will not be reached, when it is neither allowed to be advertised, and not visible, purchasable, or able to activate via steam.

The game wont be banned anywhere because of cannibalism what a silly notion.

The people have spoken, and what they've said is true.

Cannibalism should be implemented before hunting/foraging.

I personally think cannibalism would be a horrible idea. There's just certain things that are the world's universal No Nos. Number one is cannibalism and number two is incest. Both are sure to cause problems.

Firstly I'd rather not get the DayZ standalone banned in countries over something so useless.

Secondly, food is easy as hell to aquire so, if you're desperate enough to eat human meat you're doing it wrong.

And lastly this encourages more useless bandits. Bandits with a food source strictly from killing new players on the coast oh boy! More Mosin fodder.

A rather simple question with a somewhat complex answer simply put I would love to see this in DayZ and I do realize this might exacerbate KOS, I also believe that there should be some health issues with long term consumption of human meat not sure if this happens IRL or not, need to do some research and come back to that.

Disclaimer

I understand that there is a millions things that take priority which I fully support, this is something I would like to see in the distant future when major things are fixed and alpha is finished.

/Edit I forgot to mention I know it is confirmed just wandered about peoples impressions this isn't a lobby to get it into the game.

What is the point of adding cannibalism when food is easy to be found, let alone hunting animals to eat them? Virus immunity turned some of the survivors into degenerates?

Wait what back up a second are you calling either australia or germany an underdeveloped country lol i hope i am mistaking you belief there as well if not oh my goddness there is something underdeveloped here and it aint those countries....

Hmm i think if countries havent baned the game for the already sick things people do to others in this game a little eating of long pig wont really gain them much more of a hit in censorship...

The eating of long pig is realistic historicly its realistic in a sever happening ( which may include the reality of a fictional zed apoc)

There are no ill effects to eating humans ( healthy ones) unless your counting possible mental issues for doing such without needing to (cause if me and you are caught in the bush and i cant catch food (which wont happen i am good at surviving of the land but if) and we both going to die from starvation sorry i am going to eat ya i have a small smatter of maori blood in me and that blood screams eat your enemy as your ancestors did LOL

Again who the heck will ban this game ?

Nobody is going to bother banning a nitch, mil sim pvp survival game that you cannot even buy in the stores.

The game is purely digital through steam it wont get banned anywhere.
