Recommended Posts

'IF' it ever makes its way across to console (which I doubt is possible and would take intense UI streamlining) then you would probably have to pay again yes. You can't buy BF4 for xBone and get it free on PS4

SA will never make it to PS4

It would take a fooking miracle to port something based off ARMA onto shitty console specs.

-and if it did I would not want to see how bad the game had to be dumbed down

Its not even confirmed yet.  Rocket said even if they do they wouldnt even begin working on it until they get the PC version fully released.  So it wont be happening for over a year probably two.  And yes you will have to buy a second copy of course.

Yep, yep and yeppety yep. What, do you expect a free copies on different platforms just because you bought a copy that was designed for a specific platform?

Short answer: Yes.

If you bought Minecraft for PC you'd still have to buy it for PS3/4/Xbox/Mobile, same applies with DayZ.  And this is assuming it even makes it to consoles.

I would expect the SA to make it to consoles, but you would have to rebuy it as it would be a slightly different version.

Ask yourself the question - if i bought ANY game on PC why the hell would i get a free copy if i buy a totally different system?

I would dearly like to know of any games that work this way please.

Don't bash on people their dreams!  But yeah you will have to buy the game again if it would be released on console.

Why should dayz be different from any other game? Ever heard of a game that gave you a free copy for console or PC when you bought it on the other platform?

Also ps4 Version will never happen.

ahh maybe my question was kind of silly as someone who wants to test and support but has a not great PC, but has a PS4, I read online this was going to come on the PS4.

The question isnt as silly considering the only option atm is to use the PC alpha.

Most games u aren't "buying the alpha" to test/help the developers.

Arma2 engine on a console, ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best any of those "new" three year old hardware consoles will ever do with an Arma 2 engine is maybe 720 @ 30FPS on low settings.

Here is an idea. If you have a PS4, sell it and upgrade your computer, if you don't have a PS4, don't even invest.

Portal 2 on PS3 came with a free copy of the PC version.

That's a unique situation though, as Valve controls Steam, and they were promoting the cross-platform co-op in Portal 2.

i have a few posters here making sarcastic remarks I am basing the comments on PS4 as a result of reading indication this was planned.

Am I uninformed or are those posters simply ignorant to these discussions and basing their responses on their personal opinions on the matter?

Well, the PS4 would be more than capable of running DayZ SA from its specs and judging from the fact that Planetside 2, War Thunder and Elder Scrolls Online are all planned for it, obviously the scale of Chernarus would not be an issue.

I'm basing it on what Dean said.  Not what 'Game Website X' honed in on and hyped one sentence fragment of what Dean said (IT'S GONNA RELEASE IN JUNE!!!!!!11111oneoneuno).  Dean said they'ed CONSIDER porting it consoles if sales were good, but that it wouldn't be until well after the 'Retail Release' (meaning when the version number goes from 0.x to 1.x).  Only time will tell, hell who knows, maybe in optimizing the engine for PC's they'll find a way to optimize it enough for the consoles to use the Arma Engine and open up other BIS games.

And for the PC Master Race, think of it this way, how likely is it that we'll have shared servers with the Peasants?  Hell the Peasants can't even share severs among themselves.

Another thing to take into consideration.

-Getting all those arma controls to work with PS4-

would take a whole new system.

The answer to your question doesnt matter, its never coming to PS4. At the rate they are going,by the time they have something that can remotely pass as a legitmate retail release, the PS4 will be several years into its life span. When you put Day Z up against games like the Division and Dying light,it looks 2 gens behind. They will laugh if Bohemia tried to sell them something so outdated for $60.

i take it the above poster is just stating his opinion? making blanket statements on what won't or will be released for a consule unless he is a decision maker in those companies.

I am now a bit clearer (I think) in that its being 100% released developed on PC then "maybe" will get ported, and in that sense would require a separate testing cycle (not as long prob) for PS4 in which "there may" be needed PS4 testers but nothing is certain (and clearly the release here is 100% oriented towards PC testers/buyers)

Thanks for the clarity.

I doubt they'd need external testers for a console port, that and it'd be more difficult to get it to the testers as opposed to PC.

Since it's doubtful it will ever be on Ps4 I'd say no, but it may one day happen, in which case yes of course you will have to pay again. Where do people come up with these questions? Is it simply lack of knowledge or pure stupidity? I can't decide.
