What happens if I changed my name in game

Recommended Posts

So in all my days playing arma 2 my name has been user,I am thinking of settling down in a server but I kinda want to make my name meat pie so if anyone from the forums see me they know its me,and what not.

If I changed my name on my profile what would happen? Because i tried to change it in arma3 but I could not edit my name with out making a new profile.

I think its time for a change after all this time.

Thanks

The only thing that has happened to me because I have changed my name was that my keybinds were reset to default (had to re-bind the finger)

If that's your default userprofile you can't change your name.

You will have to create a new profile so you can change your name, which will possibly result in you losing your custom keybindings / graphicssettings and everything.

If you just copy over your configs from the configfile of your "User"-profile to the "meat pie"-profile you will have your configs back.

But other than the keybinds nothing will change. :)

with arma 3 when I made a new user profile I lost all my single player progress so I just went back to user.

shame maybe I will have to stick with user if its like that in arma 2.

Dayz mod keeps your progress but as was stated, any custom keybinds and video setting will revert back to standard.

I had 3 profiles I switched between and the 3rd one was changed quite frequently, Never lost my character or anything associated with it in game.

No, you don't lose anything on DayZ, as it's bound to your GUID, not your playerprofile.

C:\User\YourUsername\Documents\Arma 2 Other Profiles\

Then go to the "User" directory and copy the content of your User.Arma2oaprofile over to the newly created profile, so go back to:

C:\User\YourUsername\Documents\Arma 2 Other Profiles\

Then to go the "meat pie" directory and paste the content of your first User.Arma2oaprofile into the new meat pie.arma2oaprofile and you should be fine.

k sounds good because I play arma2 lots and would not want to lose my saves.

Thanks man
