Ahhh... I was wondering why I could never get them to work. I'd seen Jester814 writting messages whereever he was killed, but couldn't work out why it wasn';t working for me.

Sucks it was removed. It was an interesting concept to me, I think it being removed for racism is a bit of a stupid reason, yes it can be offensive to some but removing it is too much, just because a few people decided to write something racist on a note. If the devs think this is a problem, then I hope they find another way around it as I was actually interested by this. I don't know how I would feel about it if they censored it though, blocking some words and so on, it may take away from the immersion for me a little.

the word you're looking for is idiots.

tbh I'm not to sure whether racism is the reason or not, I would expect a whole load of derogatory examples are on the palette. the pen and paper mechanic has basically opened the game up to all the ethical arguments that have been had on forums over the internet's history except without moderation.

But to be honest, IMHO out of my experience playing ARMA and DayZ (and I don't think this is representative of society or even the forum community tbh) there has been a large section of players I've come across who've been particularily vicious, nasty or just sadistically abusive. More than the average troll to griefers you find on other fps multiplayer games.

Now i'm not sure whether it's the nature of the game (I don't) or some other reason. But I wouldn't be surprised if there was a particularily  militiristic/tribalistic/nationalistic mentality which made up an element of the core fan base of the ARMA series, even before DayZ, because, tbh, I would be very surprised if kids younger than 16/18 made up a large section of the DayZ players, I can only recall once talking with a kid out of over 1-1/2 years surviving.

ED: This is also why I think all these chin stroking high brow threads commentating on DayZ being a "social experiment" should really take pause at the limitation of variables, let alone the fact players are in the safety of their rooms, anonymous and secure with the fact they'll out live any cat.
