Mopp_94 29 Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) Hey guys, first thread made, so be gentle. Just a general wondering really. I run DayZ on lowest graphics (bar texture detail which is high) on a 1440x900 resolution. Now I know that's not the highest but its decent. Basically my Issue is when another player is anything past about 100 meters away, they are litterally only around 5 or 6 pixels high and 2 pixels wide on my display, which obviously makes it incredibly hard to spot people at distance. I never had this issue on the mod and it hinders my gameplay/experience greatly. Shooting 12 pixels with an M4 at 150 meters is fucking hard :( Basically what im asking is this. Does anyone else have this issue, and are there any potential fixes? Thanks In Advance - Mopp Edited January 9, 2014 by Mopp_94
Furtherado 100 Posted January 9, 2014 I had someone do the "bullet run" thing right past me, and when he was far away he looked like a floating head and a pair of shoes.
DropBearChick 1217 Posted January 9, 2014 Get a better computer, other than that there are some YouTube guides on rendering but currently it is 3am so find them yourself

Mopp_94 29 Posted January 10, 2014 lower your FOV FoV is still at default, I tried making it lower, didn't help alot, did offer some clarity but its an overall disadvantage so I reverted it
Mopp_94 29 Posted January 10, 2014 Lower the resolution = see people better. As in, a lower res on my screen will make people more visible? U wot

My PC Spec has nothing to do with it, as I have tried turning the Visual's to highest and it has had no impact on my issue. I didn't ask you to go looking on YouTube for me either so take your head out your ass and go to bed if its so late.
The Batman 75 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Lower the resolution = see people better. That.... Makes literally no sense. Less pixels = see more people? Try checking and double checking 3D res, make sure it's at 100%. Also check your DayZ.cfg and see if anything looks odd in there. With lower resolution (and default FoV) players are actually bigger and it is alot easier to spot pixel movement.
Metalunatic 25 Posted January 10, 2014 Player visibility seems to be tied to object quality which alters scene complexity in the ini.

whothehellishe 81 Posted January 10, 2014 I think the distance you can see someone cannot be altered and I dont think object quality has anything to do with it.

Mopp_94 29 Posted January 10, 2014 Right. Yeah that makes sense, I guess it depends on weather I wanna sacrifice the screen quality and have potential fitting issues haha, thanks for the help regardless
libertine 351 Posted January 10, 2014 This is a real problem. I can clearly see 3ft square windows on buildings while players next to it go into stick figure mode. It is already hard enough to find players with interiors and zombies not spawning with player presence.
Jrein476 3 Posted January 10, 2014 Check out the YouTube post on this subject as the poster above sugggested. I did it and it helped alot. Before everything fuzzy now clear.
Lancer 2-2 14 Posted January 10, 2014 At long distances (without a scope) players look like dark objectives moving about... for me when it got to a certain distance (despite clearly seeing the buildings) the blob vanished... which annoyed me slightly. I'm running on slightly below default settings, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, AMD FX-8350 x8 4.3Ghz, MSI GTX 770 2Gb, 8Gb Kingston 1600Mhz RAM, 1Tb Seagate 6Gb/s 7200rpm HHD. I thought that settings were not going to be like in ArmA 2 as removing things like bushes and grass gave advantages to people playing on lower settings ?? libertine 351 Posted January 10, 2014 Btw, this fix is just a few lines of code if that. if(model is player model)then(base render distance = x) FOV setting, even screen size (effecting dpi) could be included easily in the evaluation, evening out all (most?) of the avenues for variation.
