Uses: clothing, storage, utility

With the addition of clothing to the DayZ standalone, there are many more possibilities added. One I thought of, for example, is this item.

 

The belt would work like any other clothing, letting you store more items in your inventory, but would only limit them to tools and some weapons (just as the ammo box and FAK do with their items). I'd imagine it'd have a storage capacity of 5+x2, depending on the belt variant. It would let you store items like holsters, handguns, knives, and the general small tools found throughout DayZ.

 

You could also use them as tourniquets or as impromptu, weaker handcuffs. 

 

Different variants might include:

Key: + = positive aspect, - = negative aspect

 

-Tool belt: +durability, +capacity(?). Can be found at industrial sites. Medium-rare.

 

-Leather belt: -takes longer to dry, -damaged more by water (when water damage gets implemented). Can be found in residential places or made from tanned animal skins (when hunting is implemented). Common.

 

-Duct tape belt: +can be crafted with duct tape, -durability, -capacity. Can only be crafted with duct tape.

 

-Rope belt: +can be crafted with ropes, -durability, -capacity. Can only be crafted with rope.

 

-Military belt (or something): +durability, +capacity, +can be used to store canteens and magazines. Can only be found in military locations. Rare.

 

So what do you guys think? Any other belt ideas?

I dont think belts should actualy act like a normal container but it should be like a holster where you can only put particular items. Some examples:

 

Police Belt- Can hold one pistol/revolver

Tactical Belt- Can hold 2 small mags (pistol mags, 20rnd Stanag)

Toolbelt- Can hold 3 small tools (screwdriver, wrench; would ofc only be usefull when these tools get a use in game)

Sniper Belt- Can hold one scope which can be bound to a hotkey/the keybar for a fast switch of 2 scopes (an empty belt would just remove the scope)

Medic Belt- Can hold 2 medical items

 

And so on. This wouldnt make the belt just another normal clothing and it would promote roles for clans/teams.

I think this is a great Idea and I can see other things that could be added.  Start off by just having a belt.this doesn't and any inventory but what it does is allow you to add other stuff to it.

 

The Things I'm thinking of are as follows.

 

--A belt holster: Allows you to carry one pistol style weapon.

--A knife sheath: Allows you to carry a knife or maybe a bayonet in it.

--Hammer holder: Allows you do carry a hammer or a hatchet if added later or maybe one of the bigger wrenches.

--Magazine pouch: Allows for up to 4 spaces worh of Magazines to be held.  Two rifle mags , 4 pistol mags, ro 2 pistol and one rifle mag.

--Canteen pouch: Holds one canteen.

-- Grenade Pouch:  Holds Grenades.  Maybe have different sizes that hold between 1 an 4 grenades.

 

Different belts can have a different number of addons added.

 Some examples are

Since it was brought up by someone else a ducktape belt can have one addon a leather belt can have two and so on from there.

 

Maybe even have certian belts have certian addons included.

 

Like a tactical belt that someone suggested have a mag poutch included.

or a tool belt having a Hammer holder built in to it already.

A grenade belt would be cool too.  Have some grenade hooks  and mabe a pouch for grenade launcher grenades.

That would be even more awesome. It would be just like the weapon attachments so the basics for these belts are in the game already. This idea should be beaned till it gets approved!  :D  :beans:  :beans:

I think all of this is awesome and could add yet another level of depth to the game. There's still even more that can be done with it, for instance if they decide to make use of the radio's, to have a clip for those on your belt. GPS devices would clip nicely onto a belt.

Some commonly found useful belts.

Builders tool belt, hammer, screwdrivers, nails, many small pouches for different things.

Fannypacks for everything!

Waist holster, for sidearms, maybe a tactical version with space for a magazine/ clip.

Bandoliers for ammo, shotgun rounds.

I have one in my room right now I would like to see ones that let you hold spare rounds on your stock for quick tap R reloads and such.

Bandoliers are still a good idea and could go in a belt type class and I think they would be a welcome addition.

 

the tactical version could also have granade pouches for when ever they are added.

A friend of mine and I just talked about that in game. With the addition of tactical vests it leaves the waist/leg areas kind of barren. Adding a way to store your sidearm and a few mags might really add some welcomed addition to character customization. I like the idea and hope to see it implemented.

  Yea I agree about the need for a place to put your sidearm. Taking up 4 spots of inventory kind of sucks. A holster for your belt would be great.

It kills me that we only have chest holster, I wish there was different types of holsters, hip, waist, leg. Toolbelt is something I miss too, like police tool belt where you can fit a gun, two mags and handcuffs would be awesome.

I do like the idea that belts are merely an addition to clothing but don't actually support any storage options on their own. The idea of attaching pouches and bags to the belts fit more in-line, much like how you would use a belt in real life.

 

As it stands some belts can be considered the "standard", these belts cannot carry anything on their own but they be attached with additional pouches, holsters and sheaths, such examples include:

• Improvised Belt - Crafted using 2 bundles of rope, it creates a very basic belt for your character by bounding two bundles of rope together

 

• Leather Belt - A leather belt in brown or black with a brass belt buckle.Can be used as an improvised tourniquet.
• Nylon Belt - A belt made of a nylon material with a aluminimum belt buckle. Can be used as an improvised tourniquet
• Clip-On Belt - A nylon belt with a clip-on belt buckle. Cannot be used as an improvised tourniquet.
• Military Belt - A standard military belt in olive green, artic camo or biege desert camo

 

Some additional belts could hold additional items but they'd function for that specific purpose in mind, some such examples include:

 

• Police Belt - Has attachments for a pistol and 1 pistol magazine, a pouch for holding a small club, and a pouch for a radio and finally  a pouch for holding two sets of handcuffs and keys.
• Police Tactical Belt - A police tactical belt commonly used by SWAT units. Has compartments for a Pistol with 2 Magazines, Grenade Pouch, Radio Pouch, Mag pouch for two Rifle magazines and a knife sheath.
• Paramedic Belt - A belt worn by paramedics, it holds a special first aid kit variant of a fanny pack which contains basic medical supplies.
• Tool Belt - A workers tool belt which carries the basic tools of a mechanic and/or carpenter. (Hammer, Wrench, Box of Nails, Screwdriver)
• Military Medic Belt - A Military issue Medic belt, it has a millitary first aid kit variant of a Fanny pack but with additional pouches for two rifle and pistol magazines and a knife sheath.
• Military Tactical Belt - A tactical military belt, houses compartments for 4 Rifle Magazines, 2 Pistol Magazines, 4 Grenade Pouches, Radio Pouch and Military Issue Knife Sheath and Pistol Holster.
• Military Utility Belt - A military issue utility belt that functions similar to the Tool Belt but with added pouches for combat related gear such as Rifle Magazines, Pistol Magazines and a Military issue Knife sheath.

 

As for optional pouches, it could include:

 

• Improvised Belt Pouch - A belt pouch made out of a burlap sack and some rope, holds some items (4 slots)
• Nylon Belt Pouch - A nylon belt pouch, holds a small amount of items (4 Slots)
• Leather Pouch - A ordinary leather pouch, holds a small amount of items (4 Slots)
• Belt Pistol Leather Holster - A leather pistol holster that holds typically a semi-automatic handgun or a revolver.
• Pistol Nylon Holster - A modern day nylon pistol holster that holds a semi-automatic handgun or revolver.
• Leather Knife Sheath - An ordinary leather knife sheath.
• Military Knife Sheath - A military issue Knife sheath that works well with most Military Issue Bayonets and Combat Knives. An inbuilt sharpener is included to maintain the blade, preventing to get below a blunt edge
• Fanny Pack - A front mounted fanny pack that holds a decent amount of items (6 Slots)
• Utility Pouch - A Military grade utility pouch which holds a moderate amount of items (10 Slots)

  You have alot of great ideas.  I love the way you expanded on alot of the basic Ideas I started with.  Hopefully more people  will see this and keep expanding on it. And some gets implemented some day

Yep, various types of belts :thumbsup:  maybe some kind of bandoliers would be good as well.
