Why are you whining about FPS?

Recommended Posts

I can play DayZ flawlessly on my dual core, no lag spikes -- Nothing.

Same, i can run it 40+ most the time with a Core i3 2120 3.3GHz, XFX Radeon 7790 1GB Black Edition, 8GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX 1600MHz

Just (finally) upgraded from an ATI 3870HD to a Radeon GTX670 and the game still runs like absolute death in towns. I know it's poorly optimised at present but is there anyone with a similar card/setup that can help me at least feel like this game is running on a fairly decent card?

AMD Athlon X4 630 - 2.80Ghz

12GB RAM
A desk covered in miserable poor framerate tears

I keep tweaking and nothing seems to be the right balance between recent-gen and total potato. It is literally only this game that makes me feel like I haven't upgraded at all...

Any help would be appreciated (I've done the optimisations via the .ini before the upgrade)

In towns things will slow down, especially if you're near other players.. you just have to deal with that part.

I have things running really well on my toaster of a PC and in towns it still drops to 20-30 and in horrible cases down to about 15fps

With the rig in my signature I still drop to 25 frames per second sometimes in cities, with everything on maximum. It doesn't matter if I put everything on medium and disable the fancy effects, I still get the same frames per second. It's just poorly optimized and has been so for months now. The game doesn't fully make use of your GPU/CPU.

Note how only 25% of each of my graphics cards is being used, as well as not fully taking advantage of my processor.

Give us a Live stream with your dual core or never happened. Especially in big towns unless you do play with cfg script with no grass or trees or even walls and lowest settings.

Running a live stream would heavily affect performance. So, it would be invalid.

Don't you mean this one 81ZvdTZXVCL._SL1500_.jpg

Sorry bud, my uber advanced lawn mower also functions as a self defense stabby-stab weapon that will destroy you!

His results are invalid anyways.

Lets start with "No lag spikes"  He doesn't even say if they are frame spikes. So no lag spikes can be due to connection and nothing releated with pc hardware.

Or Does he mean "Frame Lag"? Topic says FPS , so should be frame lag or spikes.  He can record it with shiney camera without using his pc as well, so results will be valid.

Ok, well I mean I cant argue with that last part but his results are the same as mine. Core2Duo 3.0ghz with great performance and 40-60fps outside of major cities and 20-30fps within them.

And if you do not believe that, then that is your issue. Not his or mine or anyone else with a 2core that has good results.

DayZ maxed out in an empty field:

DayZ2014-03-0718-59-25-92_zps9f0b207c.pn

Crysis 3 maxed out:

Crysis32014-03-0718-38-34-99_zps6db5fff2

I feel like framerate complaints are legitimate.

Actually need to see it just for curiosity , optimization also plays a big role as DAYZ SA almost using the same ARMA2 engine just a revamped one as far as i know which is Real Virtuality 3.

At that time i3 cpus was just released same for i5 or even for i7 maybe game has not been optimized well yet as its current stage so hence older cpus doing better.

But it's really not acceptable and wierd.

I think what may play as more of a factor is that people with good CPU's tend to have decent rigs as a whole. And when they have a nice PC, they are not used to adjusting things to make them work properly.. the tendency is to crank the settings up all the way.

People with crap PC's like me, get used to having to squeeze every last drop out of their PC and in the end learn how to optimize things with greater efficiency. Thats my theory for some of it at least.. because I really doubt that for some odd reason older, lessor CPU's would have an inherent advantage when playing dayz.

Well i don't even need to say for people who use 6-8 cores cpus to unpark their cores as some people were wondering why they can't run BF4 better because some of their cores were parked. But as you are getting better resutls even with dual core then no point.  What settings you play with and any specific launch parameters? Also any config tweaks rather than using pointless "In Game Options".

And What  OS you're runing? (And using Direct X 9)?

Rofl, almost everything is DayZ is a 3D model.  All the trees, buildings, which majority of them are enterable and the map is 20x the size.  Plus, hurr durr, welcome to "alpha" for the umpteenth time.  You just compared a complete game to a game that is in early access alpha

I have HD7770, 8gb of hyperX RAM, AMD fx 6-core processor, and in cities this game runs like shit on all possible tweaks and lowest graphics. FPS is around 15-20 in cities. In countryside it's something like 40 and small villages maybe 30.
