Early warning alarm system

Empty cans... Fishing wire.... Tie cans to wire.... Tie wire between trees or buildings. Hey presto, A perimeter alarm. Or a trap in cities to alert zombies to player movements.


Also, attach grenades to the trip wire... BOOOOM! Carnage!

Wanted to bump up the thread, as I think it's a good suggestion.

I'm okay with just some tin cans and fishing line to make a short range trip wire alarm. Great for them camping times ;)

. . . Seriously though. *cough.* This would be great for the solo sniper in the forest. Aswell as the hawk-eyed counter snipers spotting the cans on the wire. Awesome! :D

I read somewhere, perhaps one of the interviews, that the traps idea is being taken very serious.

As for landmines, just like OP mentioned, you'd do the wire+grenade, that's a landmine for you... 1942 Russian partisan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_partisans ) style...

Though my first pick would be the alarm. It would be amazing (once the fly sound from cleaned up bodies has been removed, of course :))

I don't think it would take very much to implement at all. There are already sounds for bumping into fences - just add a new one for tin can traps. Perhaps make them low to the ground so that the careful player could climb over them without activating them. Or maybe higher up, and then can be proned under.

i think they should be up high enough to be triggered by walking/crouching, but not low enough to be triggered by proning.

As for traps - latest patch 1.7.2 will have them. Boom, homework completed ;)

Beartraps would be cool too, could temporarily tie up a bandit (bandage blood loss/opening trap) while also giving off a loud scream survivors could react to.

Could easily pop tyres of vehicles too.

Traps are already about t be implemented in the 1.7.2 patch ;)

Actually not too bad of idea to have the downside of it alarming infected for a minute or until stopped by action.

As for cars, I'd prefer something harder to implement but yeah, something that would screw it up in a way, just make it much harder to come across partaking for anti-car device. ;)
