Players, communicte more please.

Recommended Posts

Said it before but I noticed that 1st person only servers REALLY filter those guys out.

I'm new on this forum, (well, who isn't, really) and i've never seen this before. Thanks for the tip!

Face it.  It's a death match game.  Don't bother "holding me up."  I'd just as soon die.  With no humanity system in place, it just death match

And then there's type 3 players...who just don't understand what DayZ is at it's core.

Don't get me wrong, you WILL get shot at!

But not being able to abuse spotting people over walls and the like filters out the core of these guys and, overall, it has the added benefit of: "If he can see me, I can see him", which makes it more about how YOU approach a situation and less about THEM abusing a system and you can't do anything about it.

True

I spent a few hours yesterday looking for someone to saline transfuse me

Not a single survivor responded

One guy stopped when I pointed my gun at him and told him to put away his axe, he looked at me and sprinted away zig zagging for over a minute

I offered one guy a gun if he would heal me, and he ran away after staring for about 20 seconds

Funniest one was a guy on solnichny factory, I told him if he transfused me I'll give him some supplies( he logged in next to me), he turned and leaped off the roof as soon as I spoke, and he had a loaded mosin and other stuff, he swiveled his head and jumped off(I think he tried to log out before he hit the ground but failed)

I hope they have good bullet detect system in beta maybe full release where you doing damage only where you shoot, on player and loot ;)

example headshot damage hat/headtorch/mask only

maybe blood infect clothes but backpack items stay in same condition   :)

if I don't shoot the guys weapon maybe is small damage from drop affect aim etc but not major damage

as long as bitches doing combat log I doing shoot no speak

I agree, if shooting someone is going to ruin their loot, the hit detection system, as it pertains to the damage system, needs to be greatly improved.  I don't shoot unless I'm being shot at, but if I have to shoot someone, it would be nice to get some beans out of the deal.

LOL, that beats my experiences.

2 of my friends and me trapped a guy into an ambush at the NEA, and told him to put his hands up. He listened to us (which was surprising, after all the runners) but didnt answer any of our questions. Then after about 4 minutes he started typing in chat, thanking us for not killing him. Nothing after that, so we got bored, took his weapon (cant have him shooting us in the back) and let him go. Thats the most communication we ever got from anyone.

Reading this sort of gave me a headache, punctuation please.

But yes, some people simply dont listen, and die as a result. If someone tells you to not move, then dont move. If he was going to shoot, he would have done so without talking. Unless you do something stupid. Like moving.

yeah guys sry for my english it isnt the best and i realy have to do more punctuation. ;)

I generally don't reply, I hate been referred to as 'kid' or 'son' 9 times out of 10 all I get to listen is some macho internet bullshit anyways.

But really why do I need to communicate? What reason is there to parlay with a stranger? Trade? Nope as nothing you have I can't acquire. Healing? Maybe if your leg was broke, but should I waste time and resource on something that is only going to increase my risk of survial, better to walk away or finish you off. You might help me in the future, but that would require playing same server and time as me oh and then recognising my voice.

Maybe then to make friends? It's better to join clans and outfits or friends from other communities, I personally have not played sa or mod with ppl I meet in the game. All my friends come from other games or RL, they have a track record of trust.

Currently in SA, there is to much anonymity, I have noway whatsoever to identify a player as a person, I cannot refer to previous encounters with said person, I cannot alter my behaviour accordingly. So defaults on, that avoid, don't communicate and engage if at an advantage. If your not on team speak, your As good as zombie to me.

Don't get me wrong though I love to see that changed, how though is another issue

If someone tells me not to move, the following goes through my mind

30% chance this guy has absolutely no advantage over me and just wants his life made easier

20% chance that this guy will hold me up and then kill me anyway

30% chance this guy will hold me up and then be on his way

20% chance that I can sprint and survive, and then have a fun and entertaining gun fight with this guy

Honestly, the only people who actually comply when told not to move are retards and/or people who are role playing.

Give me one reason to communicate back, and I will consider it.

If i hold you up, and you talk to me instead of running/trying to kill me (even though you know there is a 95% chance i will shoot you) you'll get out of it alive, with most of your stuff (i might take your gun, i dont want you to shoot me in the back).

Good enough reason?

As a bean eater with just the rags I own to stand up in i'm quite chatty tbh, the further my character developes the less chatty I become unless the drop if got on me. Always initiate communication in type first, then speech would be my advice..

You've given me a reason not to run or move. You haven't given me a reason to communicate back though.

Depends on the player who is holding them up. If the guys i hold up talk to me instead of running or trying to kill me, 9 out of 10 would be alive. Instead, i had to shoot them.

Fair enough, i also shoot players who don't move and don't communicate. IF he's armed. I let unarmed players go.

Hell, have a nice talk with me and i might give you loads of stuff. I'm not condesending or something like that, so nothing anoying there.

1) Currently, I agree. It's very easy to survive and you don't really need anyone else nor need to trade anything much since everything is quite easy to get. You thought about it, figured there was no reason to communicate, therefore you don't. That's fair enough really. Dean mentioned during a game event talk that they'll try to balance the overall itemization of things, across all servers on the same hive, so that people actually might want to trade stuff and need each other. We'll see how that turns out.

2) Not being able to visually "recognize" people you already met is an issue I agree totally. Only thing we have for now are clothing and skin color but can only go so far with that.

3) You are not playing DayZ, you're playing a multi-player game with your "tribe" using external tools, therefore you miss out on one of the core concepts of DayZ: The human interaction. Have you tried playing with all your friends on the same server BUT not using external communication tools to coordinate before or during play? Might have to start actually playing the game then, if only to check if that guy in front of you is a friend or not. Then you could set up a clothing pattern to recognize each other over time or if you get separated. You'd also have to sort out tactics before entering an area since you'll want to keep voice communication low.

Just some thoughts.

This is a goddamn awesome idea, why didnt we think of this? Thanks man, this will make everything twice as tense.

This will be better with more unique customisation options, because now, pretty much everyone looks the same. I mean, in real life, you'd know what your mates look like. Should be the case in DayZ as well.

How about cell phones? You could get your buddies number, and call him up in game, for if you need to know his location or something. With batteries and perception, ofcourse.

To answer the arrogant question of the OP, yes, I would rather die than be restrained or stolen from.  My stuff (including my hemoglobin) is my stuff and I choose not to give it to you.  I'll take my chances, so go ahead and take the shot if that's what you feel is in your best interest.  The only communication that you are going to get from me in-game is me telling you to go bugger off.  I've played a bunch of hours (30+) and not been killed by a player yet, incidentally.
