Karmaterror 982 Posted January 5, 2014 Basicaly i just want to hear what people think about each. Iv heard hybrid can be slightly faster....but that source .... well ... maybe not too reliable (salesman) :) So whats the daddy SSD or Hybrid? Any tech knowlege about hybrid would welcome, I had never even heard of em lol
Bakercompany86 347 Posted January 5, 2014 Never messed with Hybrid, but I love my SSD. Everything loads super fast, PC boots in 35 seconds. It's wonderful. Sort of irrelevant towards gaming though. You'll just load your game faster initially.
piru 13 Posted January 5, 2014 Hybrid will be faster in free fall. That's about it.
creature 1189 Posted January 5, 2014 I don't get how a hybrid can be faster (unless you're the salesman of course)? It's just a regular HDD with a SSD for it's cache. You'll still have longer read/write times with a hybrid compared to an SSD.
BL1P 252 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) The faster you`re drive the better ArmA series games will load such things as LOD textures for buildings trees etc. At least that has been my observation with my SSD for all the ArmA series games. Of course a ram disc is usually faster than an SSD. Not to sure on Hybrids to be honest. Edited January 5, 2014 by BL1P

It's fine, but if you have the funds for a decent size SSD I would do that, they're pretty great .

Jamz 253 Posted January 5, 2014 I'm going for a hybrid, if you do you have to make sure that the mechanical disk is 7200RPM spin speed for it to be faster than a standard HDD (some use a 5400RPM HDD, I think for laptops though)
Karmaterror 982 Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks guys, think il stick with my SSD then :)
ratiasu@hotmail.co.jp 122 Posted January 5, 2014 I got two SSD's in raid 0. Overkill, and something is bottlenecking it. Should get about 1.4 GB/sec, only getting 900MB. but I love it.Reason was that getting two 128GB drives was cheaper than one 256GB. And considering two 128GB's in RAID 0 should give twice the speed at the cost of about 15GB, the deal was quickly sealed.
ARZUMATA 4 Posted January 5, 2014 Hybrids are ok.It has small SSD to cache data you access often. So if you play DayZ it probably will cache some of its file. Since SSD size is not that big compared to the rest of the HDD it can't handle all.Plus is that if SSD fails on Hybrid drives , I can still works as standard HDD. But with prices on SSD for now, there is much better point in 256GB or more SSD for OS and Games and Soft, and get separate HDD for archiving stuff.
InvisiMan2013 229 Posted January 5, 2014 Just got the 240gb version of this: http://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/hyperx One of the biggest pain in a$$ games to load is Battlefield 3... now it takes like 20 seconds to load. Windows 8.1 boots in less than 25 seconds. Chrome loads almost instantly with multiple tabs populating just as fast. My computer (Dell Inspiron 17r SE) had a 32gb mSATA SSD for caching and a regular drive for data, but a pure SSD can't be beat.
zecele 211 Posted January 5, 2014 If you get any stuttering or lag spikes an ssd will help a great deal.
