Tips For Gearing Up?

Hey Everyone!

 

So I'm fairly new to the game: about 2 and a half weeks of on and off gameplay (give or take).

 

I run a Twitch stream, and I always spend a good chunk of my time looking for gear in front of my viewers. Now, they don't mind at all (it's a good chunk of the game, after all), and we have a lot of fun, but I'm looking for ways to optimize my time gearing up.

 

What I'm looking for is your best tips for gearing up quickly: 

 

§  Where do you tend to go first for weapons?

§  What towns have the most dependable stashes of food, water, and ammo?

§  Are there certain routes that you can recommend for a great, quick way to gear up?

 

So far, I've been pretty successful hitting up the abandoned ship near Guba as well as Guba itself, but you guys are the experts, and I'm sure many of you know the best military base or hidden gem of a town that I should be looking for!

When you spawn, find some basic food and water, then head north inland. The inland towns are mostly untouched, and have lots of gear.

 

For weapons, I head to zelenogorsk. As fro routes, I used to go from Kormarovo or Kamenka to Zelenogorsk, to green mountain, to the Northwest airfield, but now you don't spawn in those towns I'm pretty sure.

Ah, Zelenogorsk. I've never been there. I'll have to check it out.

 

The Northwest airfield has been a pain in the ass to get to; I've been there once and got killed by a sniper. But once I make it to Zelenogorsk, I guess the distance wouldn't be as bad.

NW Airfield was also mentioned by another forum member. Been there once, got killed very fast. May have to give it another shot.

 

Never been to Green Mountains. I'm looking at the DayZDB map now trying to pinpoint where it is. Could you give me a general idea of where on the map to search?

As of current state of game I can suggest that the most important building early in the game is the pub (?). Like the one on 121 90 on the map marked with red cross.

It frequently spawns nearly everything useful for survival, except for weapons (if you don't count bat or smth as a weapon). Usually you can find there a 25-backpack, some food/clothes and occasionally some meds/medbag or a protective case. So if you find one that looks like it's not scavenged you should give it a shot, usually worth it.

If you are willing to murder someone, kill people for their loot.

 

Stalk the person and try to catch them while they are looting something and hit them on the back of their heads with any weapon (fists are fine too as a few consecutive punches to the head will knock the player out)

I've only recently began murdering people in-game. I've done it only as a means of survival (no food/water) or when threatened, but it was pretty fun nonetheless.

As stated earlier hitting the military base just north of Kamenka, then Zelenogorsk, then Green Mountain, then the military base south of Vybor and finally the NWAF is my preferred route... just drink water at every town from a well (or pond along the way - since it is currently safe). The only thing you need to really worry about on the coast is getting a few cans of food and a sharp object to open them. Normally if you follow this route and hit the barracks, tents and police stations along the way your geared up by the time you reach the NWAF, but if not and you still have to hit the NWAF then hopefully this video guide helps...

Just find your nearest military base and start server hopping bro. It's all the rage.
