jaywils91 1 Posted January 5, 2014 Hello people, I am sitting here looking at overclockers, and acan and contemplating buying a bew graphics card, and to be honest, it's mostly because of my DayZ experience. My current specs are 16GB rami7 3770kGT640 (i know this is rubbish - looking at 770's or 680ti)Windows 8350w PS (i intend to get a 600/650). But back to my question, and why I am here. How much optimization can actually be done to this game, the way i look at it, my current spec can run BF4 pretty well and the game looks good as well, I get a good frame rate even when the buildings are falling down around me and a kazillion grenades are going off. I'd also like to point out I am not complaining, just interested. So for all you geniuses, please fill me with knowledge :) Many thanks.
larrylongbottom 106 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Im thinkin your rig should be able to handle the game when it is released (2015) but yeah GPU could do with a upgrade and you will definitely need a bigger psu Edited January 5, 2014 by funkyfrogjuice
TimM1983 57 Posted January 5, 2014 My computer is half of your's and I get 60 FPS constant. Everything on low. Drops in Cherno to 40 FPS. Even with the best setup you will have problems on super high settings, especially with clouds + shadow on.
jaywils91 1 Posted January 5, 2014 I do have everything on low, but this brings in another annoyance. I definitely do not get 60fps at all. How would you check this? Maybe I actually have a a problem with my pc....
TimM1983 57 Posted January 5, 2014 I check this with FRAPS. What is your rendering resolution ?
jaywils91 1 Posted January 5, 2014 1440x900 or 100% as the game calls it. I've noticed this doesn't make much of a difference to my fps though.
csharp 47 Posted January 5, 2014 Your PSU is just the minimum for the GPU, which is pretty bad.
jaywils91 1 Posted January 5, 2014 Yeh, its all stock atm. I got the PC and a monitor(ulta slim AOC, LED, 50mil:1 DCR), turtle beach headset and the peripherals for £700. So not a bad buy imo, which isn't worth much.
applejaxc 2500 Posted January 5, 2014 ...do you want to send me your GPU when you're done with it? :) Anyway: A lot. Optimization, now, is focused on getting more efficient means of handling zombies/map changes (like doors opening/closing)/loot management. Later on? I don't know what's planned. I'm running this exact setup with the exception of power supply and gpu. I have a GTX 770 and a 1200W powersupply. Right now with most settings on low I maybe get a whopping 20-40 FPS in the larger cities and probably 60's+ in the open land.

Does the PSU need the be that big?!! Edited January 5, 2014 by jaywils91

-DMG-Jonesy 226 Posted January 5, 2014 I'm running a i5 3570k, 8gigs of ram, and a GTX760. Generally, my frames are up in the 40+ range. Sometimes they drop into the low 30s.
soulfirez 901 Posted January 5, 2014 i hope for lots of optimisation but i honestly dont expect much to be done in this field realisticly. I have been playing arma for a little over 8 years now and one of the biggest cries every release is optimisation of the RV engine and well very little has actually been done in the field( still hope they will dont get me wrong) Its a detailed engine and it is hit and miss on performance with it some guys with lesser rigs get better fps than me some with better rigs get worse fps than me. Haswell 4770 @4.5 ghz 16 gig ram 1 gtx titan settings mostly very high (clouds disabled as they dont lower my fps but the do seem to cause me sudden fps spikes) frames i get 30 to 35 in cities and up to 80 in wilderness just clicking to change everything to lowest possible setting fps in cities 35 to 40 fps in woods 90 or so ( settings can be a pain in the RV engine sometimes setting things higher gains you fps as well it will take it from being cpu controlled(rendering) to putting it on your GPU so all i can say is spend alot of time in settings while having fps displayed (be it with fraps or game booster what ever you have that measures fps) and adjust them all watching your fps and go with the best settings you can get for yourself in visuals while holding a decnt fps.

Zer0HD2 (DayZ) 40 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) really? 60s looking up at the sky? I can hit 60 in the wilderness. I don't even come close to that in cities, more like 20-30 there. But yes, in the wilderness I average at around 60. Looking at the sky I cap around 120 :P Edited January 5, 2014 by Zer0HD2
