Unarmed / Low Tier Melee Players not Listening to Armed Guys

Recommended Posts

Expect events like the blackout and the hurricane are so to say tomporarily anomalies, they go by.

Yes, the looting and so on happened, but in both cases it weren't at first the consumables that were stolen it was stuff like furniture and TVs.

But if there is no TV anymore then the real survival starts and in an post-governental state there will be a situation where you depend on each other. Think of 'The Walking Dead' you need to have a community otherwise you will f*** up, even if you are a doctor, but you still need the supplies.

About the 'Stanford prison experiment' it only tells that there are some, because of a thing named coining and socialisation, who tend to brutalize others, because they suddenly are empowered to do things that they weren't allowed before.

Right now we got a similar situation now in DayZ where we got some guys that can't cope with the power of the Mosin or the M4; The bullies. And some who are depraved and are forced to do stuff, they wouldn't do if they were not forced to.

DayZ is such a great social experiment!

I would be glad to write something about it in my Sociology-Studies. 'The effects of real-life experience in videogames'. Kind of would sort out the 'killer-game' argument, because it would prove that it's not the games that brutalize the youth, but their surrounding.

There's a little Rage Against The Machine in all of us

"Killing in the name of!

Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses

And now you do what they told ya

Killing in the name of!"

It's not my fault if bandits kill unarmed players, it's like being killed by a high-level player in WoW, it's unfair, so i don't care.

IT'S UNFAIR? UNFAIR? UN FAIR? UNFAIR?! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

DayZ has NEVER been about balance. EVER. Is life fair? No, it isn't and neither is DayZ. That's the point.

I've only been playing this for two days now, and really there is no point to holding somone up or killing them for anything. Every major town is well within reach from spawning with minimal effort. I think it might have taken me 30 minutes at most to get to one. Zombies are easy kills (stand still, one hit with firemans axe to the head) so they shouldn't slow you down too much unless your reckless. You will alway's find food or water in a house somewhere. Holding people up or killing them is pretty much for your own ego where everything you need is all over the place in the major cities. I personally don't go online to help a person stroke their ego. With reguard to the people server jumping, the game rarely makes it past 10 minutes without connection issues and 1 hour of play before it starts crapping out for me personally. 4 or 5 times now i've logged back in loosing everything and respawning. So not everyone is server jumping for loot i'm guessing.

Also known as why you end up getting shot when you're unarmed / have a melee like the bat or crowbar, maybe even the hatchet.

Me and my friend held up a guy in Elektro, outside of the Firestation. I got him to put his hands up and told him to drop everything, and we waited a minute, telling him over our microphones to drop his things. He didn't, so we shot him.

Instead of just shooting him on sight, we tried mugging him since he didn't have a gun.

If you are mugged by someone, listen, and you'll probably be able to get out alive. You'll probably be shot if you have a gun, though.

Off topic, but the best part about us killing that guy? It helped us out in the long run. His corpse was right outside the game, so when a server-hopper we spotted in the Firestation was about to leave, he went to loot the body and we shot him with our pistols. I guess he picked the wrong server to finish his hopping on, or he may have just been in the area- He really came out of nowhere and luckily my pal spotted him.

I was at the NE Airstrip earlier, fully geared, a guy came up behind me and told me to drop my weapon, I complied and told him not to shoot me, he could have whatever he needed, he shot me anyway after I had dropped my m4, then put a few more bullets in me to make sure i was dead. this seems to be the mentality of alot of players, these guys clearly have no regard for the time it has taken people to gather full gear, even getting robbed would leave you with at least some survival gear and not send you back to an empty spawn area.

A guy was trying to cuff me and he made the mistake of doing it in front of me, so i force feed him tuncture.

Should carry rotten food and keep it on your hot bar, can force feed multiple things by the time they get you cuffed.

Atleast till you have a weapon to defend yourself.

Or you could just listen to people. Running away or just logging out forces true bandits to just shoot people and take what they can get.

Is this bug reported already?

My very first life on SA i got jumped by 3 stooges. I got handcuffed, stripped, force fed rotten fruit and when they realised they didn't have a key for the handcuffs (and i had struggled to get out of them for 20 minutes) they killed me.

For what? All i had was a baseball bat, torch and my clothes. They did it because they could. From that moment onwards i have sworn if i run into a group and i have a weapon and they tell me to drop it, they will be getting the hot lead before they can prise it from my cold dead hands.

I will always stop and talk to lone survivors, often helping by chucking them some supplies or pointing them to some loot (i even escorted one guy to a military base so he could get some weapons as he had been jumped and killed by some bandits).

But then i have also been sniped from seemingly nowhere for no reason other than i happened to stop to have a look around

If vermin don't cooperate, they need to be exterminated without delay. That is our policy, and it should be yours.

Exterminating the spastic vermin is a job in which we can all play our part. If you encounter one these, it needs to be exterminated.

Wrong, people like you are the problem of this game, if you want a pvp game go play BF4 or COD, or even minecraft.

This is a survival simulator.

And of course in real life if somebody is trying to talk to you or something, you can just magically disappear on them. Combat logging has always been, and will always be, one of the most dickish things you can do in DayZ.

Funny thing is, people have combat logged on me even when ive been friendly, offered a guy food and water and he alt+f4ed, tried to get two hatchet guys to drop there weapons (i was on my own, cant risk one of them hitting me from behind).. but they didnt drop them and instead one decided to charge at me so i dropped him.. gave him plenty of warnings, whilst talking to the second guy telling him if he doesnt want to have the same fate drop the weapon and dont log out... then he vanished.

PVP and bandits are a BIG part of what makes DayZ what it is and although i hate KoS people.. they are still a much needed aspect to the game..

But the lesson people need to learn is to just co-operate.. i have the gun, not you. - we actually handcuffed a guy who was completely unarmed.. gave him a quiz, and because he responded nicely we gave him a loaded pistol and open food and water..

You are only ruining your own gaming experience by running away and dying or logging.

Just a moment ago I had a fun encounter. Elektro suburbs. Middle of the day. My mate spots a random guy with a hatchet and some gear on him (not a bambi). He flanks him, I chase him and tell to stop and surrender. He tries to run. I shoot his legs and tell him to stop. He turns and makes a move towards me with his hatchet. I aim at his head and order him to stop again. "Last chance", I say. He does as I command and surrenders. My mate aims at him, I come closer. I open my inventory and take out some sterile bandages. I treat the guys wounds. He apologizes for not complying earlier. I cuff him. I look through his backpack, take a bottle of medicine. I uncuff him and tell him he's free to go. The poor guy stood there for a minute until he finally moved and ran away.

This encounter gave me hope that in fact there are still some players, who won't alt+f4 at you. There are other players, who want to survive.

I will never let armed people handcuff me and tell me to drop items, if i see an armed player i will start running away and hide inside an house, or simply log out :D if you get handcuffed you're going to die, the bandits wont let you go.

Robbed a guy outside of elektro with a buddy. He had an m4, axe, good clothing plenty of gear on him.  Cuffed him, robbed him, left him his medbag and some food, undid the cuffs and he went about his business.

A moment ago on DE 4-77 server I had an encounter with an actual... hero. I was observing Electro, full geared, waiting for my pal. Suddenly I hear a step behind me - there's a dude, pointing his gun at me. "Don't move, stay where you are", he said. "I don't want to kill you". I told him I can give him my medicine and food. But he just ordered me to keep lying until he's gone and he disappeared in the woods.

It was my first encounter with a hero-style playing dude. Insipiring. I guess I'll have to wear jeans and white shirt and do more good shit around :)

EDIT: On the other hand, maybe he had no ammo in his .45? Nah. I prefer to believe he was just a good guy.

Well I dont like loggers but I can see why a lot of them are doing that here.

Its already boring all those people just runing to get the guns,  and handcuffing people just for the "lolz youtub", they think they are roleplayer masters but they are just stupid and not creative, so i can understand why a freshspawn would just attack, log out or run.

And of course, they play in groups (the easiest and most boring way to play this game)

PS: I love the handcuffs its one of the greatest aditions in the game.

I see no point in actually "cooperating" with people who are mugging you if you are unarmed/no firearm unless they are in a decently sized group.

1v1, you actually stand a decent chance of murdering/knocking them down, stealing their weapons, and turning the tables. Of course if they're in an extremely large group, while your chances of survival are nil... you stand a high chance to cause them alot of problems. Since bullet dispersion is so high in this game, you can make your muggers shoot eachother in the confusion.

Obviously not many people like being robbed. So why not cause your robbers some frustration before possibly dying? Not only will they be injured/dead, but your gear will likely be damaged so it is not as useful to them.

There are no real incentives to keep living in this game after loosing your gear. Dying and respawning will put you in almost the same position as being robbed and not killed.

if you don't play in groups you run into people in groups and kos'd

If you don't play in groups, the chance of you seeing a group before being spotted yourself is much higher (unless they're a properly organised group with a decent point)

EDIT: Or you're playing on a TPV server and the group is all hiding behind walls (forgot to mention that)

if you dont play in a group you should be stealthy and like phlOgistOn said you are more likely to spot them first before they even know you are there and therefor you have the option of totally bypassing said group..

To be quite honest playing solo is more than likely going to be your best bet at staying alive. i tend to die the most when with a group as we get spotted more.

Its all Hit and Miss

I have tried helping unarmed people with food, only to have them attack killing me (bad move as i was covered and they were then all promptly killed), I have asked people to lower weapons and instead came at me, so they died, i have had some plead to not be killed and they werent as i am no bandit, if n e thing i will help you. I have been killed for no reason as a new spawn , I have had epic fire fights where after the comments were Good Game. It is a great mixture. I have made friends from being held up and vice versa. I have killed many many people...but never the first to fire, I have teamed up with heavily armed people just from saying hello, and had some just kill me.

A highlight, running into Elektro...having a player (I will call him the sheriff) standing guard watching players, killing hostiles and letting friendlies loot, could we have killed him, yes, would there be a point...no, seriously, people who take on a role are awesome, kids who treat it like a fps...go back to battlefield

Also...as an interesting aspect, we have handcuffed a few guys who complied, gave them a loaded pistol water and food, and said you are free to go but do not attempt to turn on us. so far only 1 out of 3 complied...funy thing...the pistol only had one round (and they were empty) the two that shot, instantly killed and we healed...the last one, he said thanks started walking away, my friend pops around corner, says thanks for passing...and gets 3 fully loaded clips, and he keep on walking

there is some hope
