Feral (DayZ) 622 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) does the sun still rise in the east and set in the west?does the moon adhere to it's lunar cycle?and do the stars still accurately represent their real life positions in the night sky? I ask because I use them as navigational aids and the other day, judging by how far I'd managed to misjudge the position of the NE airfield it seems the sun was actually in the south East. edit - also it didn't seem to move at all. weedmasta 784 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) I don't know about the moon and stars but the sun is always either South or South-East. Edited January 3, 2014 by weedmasta
kichilron 8550 Posted January 3, 2014 Feral, my friend - should have asked me. ;-p The time doesn't change currently - it's set to one time. That means there's no sun setting nor rising. Same for the moon. But I guess there's no reason to have it any differently than in ARMA 2, as it was in there already. So I suspect, that it will behave like you would expect it to behave as soon as the timecycle is actually implemented. :)
m0n3y 2 Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) Yes.I never pick up compasses, I just use the stars. EDIT: Some servers have a fixed time, but I've been on some servers where I started in the daytime and ended in night :) Edited January 3, 2014 by M0n3y93

Bakercompany86 347 Posted January 3, 2014 I don't know about the moon and stars but the sun is always either South or South-East. ^This The sun is definitely off. That will really screw up a new players sense of direction....ended up in the endless hills to the west. Then I found a compass, and figured out the sun is indeed in the SE. floj 393 Posted January 3, 2014 Sun position is determined on a per server basis. I've been in some where it's just fractionally south, almost directly overhead. Others where it's been more to the East or West and lower in the sky. Really wish I'd favourited that server which was perma-dusk, that was a nice change :)
