Anyone kind enough to share tips on a Mosin

climb up some of the towers in cherno and practice head shotting zombies from different ranges. It's zero'd in at around 100+- yards. Meaning you can aim right off the iron sights up to 100 and not have to make any adjustments.

I just started using it yesterday and really like how accurate it is.

Mosin is very accurate rifle. As said above I've hit standing targets about 120 yards 3 of of 5 shots. That is standing of course though. Great for overwatch if you are playing with a group. Ammo is easy to find as well, which could be found in barns/fire stations/ even some houses in the rural areas. If you add the attachments to it, it is a great weapon.

Towers in cherno are the most obvious sniperspot. Everybody who's not much scared and is new in town, will try to climb up sneaky and show you his new axe.

I read somewhere shooting something from more than 400 meters it becomes inaccurate. But idk. I don't like the mosin anymore because I was trying to snipe with it and failed miserably and I'm usually good at sniping at least in the mod

Sniping by yourself is a quick and easy way to get killed in Day:Z. All it takes is one neck-beard to take the time to slowly crouch walk up behind you and bury a fireaxe in your skull, ruining your motorcycle helmet that you probably have if you are sniping without a spotter lol

I don't know the exact spawn rate of that gun but i've only found it once and didn't had a chance to try it much. I can tell it's better to use it for PVP instead of zombie hunting though

Easily accurate up to 1000m

I notice that mine shoots a little to the left, so you have to aim right of the target.

Don't try to reload while prone, it will make a horrible rattle that is audible to everybody around you. Use Page Up/Page Down to zero. When sniping from a spot, make note of distances to various landmarks (300m to that red building, 600m to that tower.. etc) your best bet is to practice and get a feel for it.

I just started using it yesterday and really like how accurate it is.

i hit a zombie in the head from kneeling with longe range scope at well over 1000m.

he was like 10 pixels high

NEAF tower was like an inch high on 24" screen when i was zoomed in.

Well that is reassuring. I am going to test it out on zombies above 300m. 100-300 I have been practicing and it's dead on.

 

I have a question though about the fall to the left and bullet drop. Can someone be specific on these two points.

The M4 is the worst weapon I've ever used. I'm dying less in firefights now that I'm using the mosin and the FNX45 as opposed to that hot PoS.

The things I find important about using a Mosin:

 

1) Always make sure there are 5 rounds in it before you engage anything.

2) Always shoot from a crouched position, cause in prone reloading is bugged and your bullet has a high change to hit the ground or grass.

3) Having a quiet breath makes aiming much easier

4) Be patient before engaging, make sure you have a high chance to hit or fire additional rounds before the target can escape. 

5) Secure your surroundings every few minutes

6) Never engage in CQB
