FNX45 = More Accurate then M4A1?

Recommended Posts

In my experiences, the FNX45 has been more reliable at the M4A1 at distance. This is a bit.. odd.

Let me compare two experiences I had in the SA, one which I effectively used the FNX45 to take out another player without having to use more then three bullets, while another where my initial "surprise" shots with my M4A1 seem to spread out and not hit the target, despite being rather close and having my ACOG scope right on the target.

EXPERIENCE #1

Weapon; M4A1

Now, I'm not mad I died in this experience, as I did bite off a bit too much to chew, but the main point here is that despite my ACOG sight, being prone, and having a clear shot at the target, it took a few tries to even take 1 down.

I had heard gunfire in one of the apartment complex type cities outside of Cherno, so I got into the tree line and sneaked my way towards them. I find myself right outside the Supermarket store thing, watching from the trees as I prone down and watch as zombies fall dead after bursts of gunfire. Thinking it is only one player, and seeing him as he walks past the window, I wait for him to exit. He will be leaving, unless he decides to server hop, but since he is at a Supermarket I don't expect this. Eventually, he leaves the store, and I see he's with another guy.

Weighing my advantages- Cover, Surprise, etc- I decide to fire. After one of them stops for a moment, I get my sight on them, making sure I have the shot, and I fire, in a small burst. This doesn't appear to hit him, and if it did, it wasn't doing much. This is when the third guy comes, and the confusion sets in. They run to a shed, thinking they're getting shot at from the Supermarket or behind them, basically giving me the best shot imaginable. They all clump up inside that shed, open to me, and I fire, right into it, but somehow, I don't hit a single one of them. Next, one guy runs to the Supermarket, and I fire at him as he does. When he stops to crouch behind "cover", I easily take him out as his supposed cover isn't going to work for someone on a hill, behind the trees, prone and firing at some confused (yet fully geared) players.

The next guy, like, shoots at me, and I get hit. So I bandage myself, and in the corner of my eye, he literally just stares at me from a car. Like, "Hey, man, I'm going to let you bandage, then we'll gunfight yo." After bandaging myself, I spaz click the M4A1 toolbar button, and it takes like a total of 15 seconds to get it out. Going prone again, I fire at the guy behind the car, thinking I hit him, before the last player flanks me and shoots me in the back.

As you can see from this experience, the M4A1's apparent spread prevented me from easily thinning out their numbers and threw away my main advantage. Had I had a mosin or a pistol on me, I'm pretty sure taking out the first guy would have been a lot easier, though the M4A1 does hold up in actual combat.

EXPERIENCE #2

Weapon: FNX45

Me and my friend are securing Elektro on a server, waiting for my friend. We both have mosins, pistols, all of that good stuff. As we walk around, looting a bit, anxiously awaiting our ally, my friend spots a guy go into the Firestation. Knowing he only has one way to exit, we get into position, hide behind some cover, peak our heads out, make sure our guns are loaded, and wait.

Eventually, he comes out, and decides to check out the corpse on the ground outside the gates, which is a blessing in disguise, as it literally distracts him long enough for me to accurately pump 3 bullets into his back, killing him. Proud of my accuracy, me and my friend run up to his body and loot his corpse. He had a vest, camoflauge, etcetera. He was decked out, clothes / armor wise, and had an M4A1, but he lacked ammunition. Later, our friend came, took the M4A1, and we ran off to try and get to Balota, only for us to split up a bit and for me to get shot in the woods as I waited for my friend to grab a PU scope he supposedly saw in a building nearby.

As you can see, the FNX45 took out a player from quite a distance. I was surprised the shot even hit, and if it hadn't been for my friend and our expendable ammunition, I would have probably hesitated. Fortunately, I did not, and easily shot him down. If I had the M4A1, since it was actually a lot farther of a distance then in EXPERIENCE #1, I'm pretty sure I would have only grazed him with the first few shots.

BTW I KNOW THIS IS ALPHA

I also heard that the M4A1 has a weird amount of spread, is this the problem?

Didn't read your entire post, but I will comment anyway  because I have a lot of experience with the M4A1..

Steps to make sure your M4 is accurate:

-Make sure all your parts are in Pristine condition.

-Make sure you are not using damaged ammo/mag.

-Do not use a silencer.

-Do not use a Bayonet

-DO use a Pristine Bipod.

-DO use a pristine ACOG scope or a pristine RDS, if you prefer.

-DO Unbind "hold breath" from your RMouseButton to something different.

-DO use MAGPUL buttstock and MAGPUL foregrip.

-DO NOT use CQB ButtStock.

-Make sure you are "healthy", or at least not in pain, infected, sick, etc.. (IE - make sure you're in good health.)

-Make sure you are not breathing heavy.

-Laying prone is not always possible, but if it is, do so.. And deploy your BiPod by right clicking it in your inventory.

-Press the "hold breath" button you have bound the instant you fire, and let go the instant your shot is fired.

I have consistently hit Zeds at over 300 meters using this method. My buddy was testing this same setup against zeds at 500 meters and was hitting every shot.

All of that being said.. The bullet dispersion on the M4 is currently shit.

The M4 definitely has an odd spread to it, it's not just vertical anymore. Bullets kind of go every which way, but what can you expect with automatic weapons that have been sitting in god knows where since the zombie apocalypse happened x amount of years ago? I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it makes sense.

Almost everything you shoot dies one shot kill. Two at max. Don't use the M4A1 in auto-mode. It's quite obvious.

Why no bayonet?

If you all wonder why there are only two 'long barrels' in the game (currently), this is why. The 'testing' of the devs, is the balance/play of, usefulness of (beyond ascetics) of attachments for guns. Indeed the attachments on the M4 make a huge difference in  accuracy, just as in 'real life'. I think that is one of the most beautiful things about SA (and Rockets vision in general). Out of the many many weapons I own, only one (Lugar Mk3 target .22) was ever remotely accurate 'out of the box'.  This is a very 'authentic' mechanic in the game, and I for one love it. You can't just pick up a gun and start doing headshots at 500+ meters (as you can in virtually every other FPS type game). We'll see where/how the balance plays out as the SA progresses through alpher.

The problem is, this was at RELATIVELY CLOSE RANGE. I wasn't shooting at them from end to the city to another. If I have a screenshot of where I am, I'll try to get it. It was literally in range where I should have been easily able to hit one of them, who was standing still, while prone with a pristine M4A1. The fact I hit another guy from a slightly farther range with an FNX45 and killed him in 3 shots shows that the pistol is just, well, more accurate.

Why no bayonet?

Because it's a variable that we cannot account for. I know for a fact that the following items improve your accuracy:

-BiPod

-Magpul Buttstock

-Magpul Foregrip

-ACOG Scope (for the sheer fact that it's a scope)

Since the Silencer and the Bayonet do not actually do anything right now, it's pointless to use them, and they only add additional variables which could (potentially) be throwing off your accuracy.

I did have an ACOG, but I lacked a Bipod or Foregrip. The problem is, should I require those to hit another player from barely any distance, while laying prone? I had him right in my sights, I shot, and it didn't appear to even graze him..

I wouldn't at all put it past BI to add some sort of extra weight from the bayonet (makes sense anyway).  And as mentioned, melee strikes with attached bayonets aren't enabled yet, so why bother.

What was your Zeroing set to?

I didn't set my zeroing, I was simply on top of a hill, laying prone, firing from the tree lines at people near a Supermarket that was close enough for me to easily see what they looked like, what they had, etcetera. It seemed as if the spread is what fucked me over, because I did eventually hit one of them, its just the fact when I hit was a bit random.

On an ACOG Scope the first line is supposed to be 100m.. 2nd 200, 3rd 300, etc.

If you had your Zeroing set higher than 100, it could throw off your aim.

Furthermore, the ACOG scope is supposed to be zoomed to 4x, But right now it's not.. It's something they are going to fix. not sure if this plays a role on how the lines work or not, or if they are even 100% accurate at the moment.

There are a number of threads where people have done test confirming that the bipod+acog+MP parts+prone+ pristine must be used together to get any type of decent accuracy. If any part of that equation is missing the M4 is shit at anything farther than 100m and even 100m is pushing it. I've missed with acog+MP parts shooting at zombies from standing inside 100m and yes it was zeroed to 100m at the time.

What about the condition of the weapon itself? Hicks confirmed firearms have conditions, we just can't see it in the mouse over popup thanks to a bug. Maybe that "hidden" value has a huge impact on accuracy, considering it covers the receiver and the barrel.

He mentioned this in a live streamer's chat a couple of nights ago, I just can't find the screen cap for the life of me, sorry (he mentioned firearms have condition, but not how it effects the gun's performance).
