Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.113925

Recommended Posts

Server: First Person only servers are now supported (Seperate Hive coming later on)

Can you explain in better detail why you've chosen to fragment the Hive in this way? What benefit is there to separate Hives for player view choice?

How about the devs balance the loot some more, instead of having military loot at a few locations and the rest UBER rare to find anything usefull you even it all out. It should be the same spawnrate almost everywhere, that doesnt mean you find a ballistic helmet, first aid kit and m4 in a farm, i mean you should find axes, snipers and magnums at farms etc, while m4, the handgun and other items spawns as frequent in the military bases.

Beacuse FPV players don't wan't to have mess with all the TPV players. Cuz TPV sux and is for n00bs.

Atleast that's what I think. But imho TPV could just be removed all together.

The wall glitching needs to be fixed. This is a serious issue. ^^

I found myself in a firefight yesterday, got trapped in the prison building at the NE AF and glitched through the wall into the corridor where some ppl where waiting - just like that, didnt move at all. Survived, just to glitch through a wall in a 2 story house later on and fall out and die with a character thats been 2 weeks old. :/

Was kind of expecting to die soon, but seeing the same glitch twice on the same day, while friends keep getting it every now and then too is just alarming. This should probably get fixed before beta.

you can run through many walls. for eg in flats with closed doors if you double jump the doors you can go straight through the wall texture and then check out locked rooms. once you get to the end you can drop underneath buildings . underneath these buildings you can see all around 360 degrees. people will be exploiting this as players running by those flats wont see them but those in glitches can see them.

i thought the skeleton was supposed to work to stop this so either the skeleton isnt working yet or something is a miss.

also if you shoot someones hand it registers no damage at all. but.. if you shoot the lower arm it breaks the person leg  so again i dont think the skelton is working.

those flats need concrete blocks placing like in them mod to stop glitching.

There are thousands of player currently not playing because the game controls like a pig. Arma 3 pulls off the mouse movement just fine.

Maybe it should have had a "Best played with controller" heads up on the Steam page if fixing the mouse acceleration wasn't something they

felt like doing in any sort of hurry.

Haters going to hate. - will give me something to laugh at later.

Most of that "gliching" are just players that disable all of the objects in the world like trees, buildings, grass. So basically they are running through the debug plains with some survivors floating around an loot. This is possible because the servers don't require signatures as of yet, no eta when that's gonna happen.

BTW, using these exploits is sufficient reason for a perma ban, or so I've been told. I wouldn't recommend trying it. :P

To all of you that bitch about people demanding a mouse acceleration fix....

This has nothing to do with christmas to do, this is something "we" have waited for in a very long time.

From the first day of playing Dayz mod with a few friends, I was hooked. Unfortunately I have played very little since then, simply because it is impossible for me to enjoy a game with such bad acceleration as Dayz.

Two of my friends which I play with alot have no issues with acceleration. I have a few theories as to why...... I played CS from beta and maybe 6-7 years, at competitive level, spending alot of time customizing my mouse settings, and choosing mice out of other criterias than "cool looks". My friends have always played casually and probably never played one single game more than Dayz. They have no idea what sensitivity, acceleration or mouse smoothing is. They just play.

I envy all of you who doesn't think mouse acceleration is an issue in Dayz, but for alot of people IT IS! Ofcourse it looks stupid to scream and complain when the patch is released right after christmas, but the fact is that this has not been fixed for ages.

I have had countless conversations with friends about Dayz standalone release, the wait was unbearable! All because it was mentioned by the developers that mouse acceleration WOULD BE FIXED IN DAYZ STANDALONE!

This is pretty much the only reason that I bought, installed and played the standalone.

Only to discover that not only is negative mouse acceleration NOT fixed - now it is positive acceleration on the Y-axis and negative on the X-axis.

And to you people saying this can be fixed in Windows with a patch ....... If you don't know what you're talking about the please keep quiet. This is an ingame issue.

I honestly don't give a flying f..k about the bugs in the game other than mouse acceleration issues. Maybe it's because I can't experience the game because it is completely unplayable. For us acceleration-sensitive people atleast.

The game controls fine if you learn to move your mouse at a constant speed. The option to disable mouse accel will be added at some point in the future though.

I think PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME works a little better than 'best played with a controller', but apparently some people can't read or choose not to anyways.

Wooord!

Btw, what does mouse acceleration actually do, since I have no problems with it being on?! I can look wherever I want perfectly fine. However I did notice that you can't turn your character 180 degrees in 0.0001 secs tho, like in counter-strike, but that just adds to the realism imo...  :)

Mouse acceleration comes in two forms - positive and negative.

Positive mouse acceleration means that as you move your mouse faster your mouse sensitivity will increase. For example if a player who uses positive mouse acceleration were to make the same 30cm horizontal mouse movement twice, once taking two seconds to complete it and once taking half a second to complete it; the first time his character may turn 180° and the second time his character may turn 360°. It can be useful for players that use a very low mouse sensitivity as it helps them make more drastic movements without having to throw their arm across the desk. I don't like it because it prevents you from building muscle memory to the same extent that you can without it IMO.

Negative acceleration is the exact opposite. It means that as you move your mouse faster your sensitivity will decrease. Like you said - it's used in the ArmA games to prevent players from being able to twitch aim like you could in an arcade shooter like CoD/Battlefield/Counter-Strike as it gives a more authentic experience.

A lot of people don't like it but honestly it's barely noticeable if you just learn to move your mouse at a consistant speed instead of trying to twitch aim as fast as you can when you see an enemy. Slow and smooth is the way with RV engine games.

Also make sure that mouse smoothing and post-process effects are both disabled as these add latency to your mouse input in a nasty way, and people often confuse this as being part of the effect of the negative acceleration.

Quote from Rocket

"Yes, control is an important issue for us - but our focus right now is mainly on the many people who are having trouble playing at all, as well as serious security problems. Once we get those underway we will be able to look at issues such as controls etc... I realise that is frustrating but we really do have to get this other stuff underway very quickly."

It's always been one of my pet hates in DayZ, and though I never knew what it was called there's never been a point where it's slipped under my notice... even without mouse acceleration my aim is absolutely terrible (hence my sig, I've actually done this multiple times in PvP encounters), so I'm looking forward to the day when I can turn it off and never worry about it again :D

That being said, I think everyone whining about it this close to christmas/new year's is daft. Everyone deserves a holiday. The fix will come when it comes. Patience is a virtue, and behaving as if you're entitled to anything is a sure as hell way to wear thin the patience and motivation of your provider.

Never knew post-processing effects had an effect on hardware response speed... I will keep that in mind.

Try a lower mouse sensitivity. I've got a massive mousepad and from one side to the other (44cm) equates to a 180° turn for me. If you slowly work your way down you should notice a gradual increase in aiming ability over time.

Turning feels sluggish if I have it any lower than I do, though. My mouse area is pretty small, so it can be a nuisance to have it too low as well. Will give it a go nonetheless and see if it helps.

I don't like it because it prevents you from building muscle memory to the same extent that you can without it IMO.

Well, actually alot of pro gamers use (positive!) mouse acceleration, in games like Quake, where you often need to make very fast 180° turns. But the mouse in Dayz feels like an old broken Toyota Corolla from the 80's, where Quake feels like an Aston Martin, when it comes to mouse lag :-P

And then it is completely impossible to have any kind of muscle memory. Personally I also prefer no acceleration at all. But if I had to choose between negative or positive I would pick positive without thinking a second about it. That is atleast playable.

I understand that they don't want people to aim like it was CS. But I don't think that they should achieve this with forced acceleration. I actually like the default blur when moving the aim fast. And it could also be solved easily if the M4 was a very rare weapon, instead people having handguns and inaccurate civil weapons, maybe a huge spread in your shots right after moving your aim - the faster you move the more it spreads :-)

Actually I should also mention that since my previous post where I havent played at all, I gave it a shot and alot of tweaking with settings, and the game was more playable with mouse smoothing at like 50%. The mouse still feels bad, like I'm using a very old ball mouse. But playable! Yay!

The only pro gamer that I've ever heard of using mouse accel was Stevy from fnatic's CoD4 team. Honestly, it's very, very rare that a serious gamer will use it in a game where twitch aiming/muscle memory is crucial.

That being said I never really followed the Quake scene as closely as I did other games.

I was just as amazed why anyone would use acceleration, but it's used alot. I've never met a CS or BF player using it, but I know a few Quake players that told me its used alot.

And what you say now just makes me wonder even more why there is negative acceleration on the X-axis and positive on the Y-axis in Dayz. :-)
