What is exploding in Chapayevsk?

The past couple days I have heard relatively large explosions in the town of Chapayevsk. The first two times I heard the explosions was when I was in the North tree line of Balota. I was certain it was coming from the apartments but wasn't 100% certain. Tonight for the first time I was in Chapayevsk and heard the explosion clearly and loudly. It was at least 100 meters away from the red storage garages. Is there something volatile in that town you can explode or is this a glitch? Hackers? Aliens? 

 

You tell me. I am clueless. 

 

Wish I could provide a sound sample or video but I don't record when I play. It sounded more intense than grenade from the original game.

Or could be someone setting the sandbox on fire. You can do this by hitting it with an axe. Its short but pretty cool.

Might be a gas station explosion.

 

For the recording, if you have a NVIDIA card that supports ShadowPlay, you could use the record last X mins feature right after it happens. Or, you could have a screen recorder on all the time (playing or just in that area).

Gas station explosion... I was just installed Dyay and freshly spawned. I saw 2 guys at the gas station looking down on player corpses near a gas tank when it went BOOM! They died and I though that they somehow triggered it and ran to loot them. BOOM again and I was a corpse, too.

Saw this last night while in my Cherno nest. We thought gas station too, but there was at least 8 explosions. I thought it too many for a gas station but what the hell do I know.

The Ghost of Green Mountain lies in gas stations to rest from time to time when traveling and when you disturb him, he will get his revenge by creating an explosion. Of course, people often mistake this as a gas station simply exploding, just as he wants you to think...

One word. Mountain Dew.

 

Someone found a can, ran off into cover to try it out. Right-click, drink can, BOOM.

 

But the can didn't die.

 

Next player runs to find out what happened. Sees a smoking pair of boots on the ground. And a can of Mountain Dew. So he picks it up. Takes a drink.

 

BOOM! That's how the Mountain Dew moves, you see. It's a living creature. It persuades people to pick it up, and move it.

 

Then it kills them.
