DayZ is the only multiplayer survivor game thing where you can't carry like 10 guns, WHICH IS FANTASTIC, lets keep it this way

Recommended Posts

Right now, you can't carry that many rifles on you in DayZ. So, when you encounter another rifle, you either switch it out for your current one or just leave it be. This is good! In other survival games, they have made it so guns are like any other fucking item and only take up one slot.

If I were to play Nether, or Rust, or any other survival game mmo thing out there other then DayZ, I could have ten rifles in my inventory. There is no reason to NOT leave a gun for someone else to take, when you can fit it into your backpack (somehow). The only guns you can carry tons of in DayZ are pistols, which is useful if you want to grab your friend a gun incase you meet up. Other then that, if you find 3 M4A1s in a camp, you can only really take 1. In the other games listed above, you can take all fucking 3.

Lets keep it this way- Its realistic and prevents people from taking every single gun they find, allowing other players to find weapons and have a chance against other players.

Should be able to put one in/on the backpack IMHO.

Have you actually seen/held an M4 in real life? Even with the stock collapsed it takes up a lot of room in my backpack. Add in any additional survival supplies and it fills up pretty quick.

I like it the way it is right now, Now if you wanted to carry more weapons/rifles and they implemented a rifle bag which made you drop your existing backpack in exchange for it then i would be fine with that seeing as it would be a trade off, More weapons = Less survival tools.

I agree!  We should be able to carry 11 guns!

Two in our hands, two on our back, three stuffed in our backside, and four in an alternate dimension caused by the extreme levels of methane gas that all the bean eating has caused.

Should be able to strap one to the backpack, then. It should take quite some slots, though. It should have a serious downside.

This is one of the things I liked about the mod, tbh, before you could carry four weapon, that was just crazy.

I do agree you should be able to carry perhaps one other rifle, but you're going to need a big ass backpack and you're going to have to be willing to give up loads of space.

Yup! Maybe a rarer military backpack. Kinda miss having a truly rare backpack in the game, anyway. Coyote <3

One rifle, one handgun and one small knife.

One rifle one larget melee weapon such as an axe.

Either of these two is more than enough.

But realistically no long gun will fit in your backpack, not without sticking out.

Assault rifles, hunting rifles dont weigh piss all (2-4kgs) you should be able to carry two, one strapped externally to the pack, make it a bit o time to unstrap and swap maybe. Lmgs weigh around 6kgs unloaded from memory (fn minimi is what ive hauled, looks the same as m249?) So maybe not, and if they have gpmgs (fn mag, m240b, m60 etc) definatly only one, they weigh about 12kgs plus unloaded. I have carried a Fn mag with a styer AUG strapped to pack IRL... but that with rest o gear was getting ridiculous weight wise, wouldnt volunteer to do it again ;)

Edit in, also gpmgs are long bastards, have a hard time strapping em to a pack without em seriously hindering movement. (nothing worse than a rifle/gun barrel finding its way between yah legs when yah running!)

I think you should be able to sacrifice your melee weapon slot for a second rifle.  I don't see anything wrong with that.  Not like you can dual wield them.

No reason a player shouldn't be able to carry an M4/870 or Mosin/870 or M4/Mosin etc.

I mean you can hold a fire axe there (rougly 7lbs.)  And that's the same weight as my 870 at home (probably about 8 lbs loaded).

If you want realism I can think of multiple ways to be able to carry multiple ARs on my body with a backpack, especially presuming they have slings (how else do you carry it on your back?)

Yes its great that you can't just shove it in your backpack, but the idea that carrying only one M4 is realistic is ridiculous. It's a gameplay decision.

Technically if you remove the buttstock, carry handle, and trigger assembly of an M4 it would easily fit into a backpack.  Of course it's not exactly combat effective as you'd have to reassemble the entire thing.

Taller backpacks could fit an entire M4 with ease.  They're not that large of a weapon, nor are they that heavy.

But definitely you could sling one over each shoulder.

Rocket talked about having a rifle bag in order to hold a 2nd primary rifle which I wouldn't mind. I imagine this would replace your large melee weapon though. Personally I'd rather keep my axe than have both a shotgun and an M4 or something

That choice should definitely remain in the hands of the player.  Keep your trusty axe around, that requires no ammo and can butcher legions of zombies?  Or sacrifice it to use those shotgun rounds you've been hoarding?

Plenty of risk vs reward here that is based on the players decision.  Not to mention a shotgun isn't exactly as stealthy as an axe.

With the push of 2 pins you can cut an m4 in half..I could carry probably 10 in a large military backpack..so yeah..not terribly realistic.

I could strap a gun to the outside of my backpack with no problem. It wouldn't even take up space.

Or, instead of carrying a fire axe, which is pretty large, I could carry another gun.

That's how it is in real life - can you seriously argue that having a slot that is only usable for melee is realistic?

How about the fact that I can't have a holster if I wear an assault vest? What about waist holsters? Leg holsters? Hell, I could even sling a chest holster over an assault vest. I'm not saying you should be able to carry 10 rifles, but really, I could have a pistol on each leg, two on my waist and one on my chest, even with end-game gear. If I didn't have magazines on a separate chest holster going the other way, I could have another one on my chest too. Then, I could have one rifle in it's normal space, a shotgun strapped to the back of my bag and a M4 in my melee slot. Then, I could fill my backpack with sawnoffs and submachine guns.

You might mention weight, but that's not in the game anyway. I don't think many people could run around with a mountain backpack full of tinned food, a top full of tinned food, an assault vest full of full canteens, trousers full of tinned food, full combat gear, a fire axe and a rifle.

Weapon carrying quantities are fine. This is not COD,for the love of God don't change it.

They wouldn't anyway, Dayz is about realism.
