Dog Acts (Post your own)

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

Just here to post a story from a recent occurrence, and I would like it if you could share a similar story. If you're not familiar with the term "Dog Act", as I'm not sure if it's Australian, it's basically and un-trustworthy, un-fair, advantage taking occurrence, or act.

So a few days ago I was around looting in the Balota airfield, and I stumbled across an M4 with no mags. I equipped it, intending to use it as intimidation. "Nobody knows I don't have ammo unless the're long time players, so for now; I'll keep scaring people", I thought.

Running back down, I noticed a phresh spawned player. Stating that I was friendly (Seeing as he was new), and seeing as he didn't have any gear, I let him go on his way. He begged in the chat for me not to kill him, and he told me that he was also friendly. I COULD have shot him, for all he knows - and believe me, I've been in his position before only to be shot also.

My friend had just purchased the game not more than an hour ago, and we had arranged to meet up here. This was the first time I had seen him on this game, and I was very excited to bump into him. I put away my gun and started running towards him. We met up, exchanged a few items and looted the airfield a bit more. My friend decided to split into one building whilst I searched in one of the hangers.

As I was searching, I noticed the phresh spawn that I had met earlier come inside the hanger, and seeing as he had stated that he was friendly, and seeing as I let him go before, I assumed the best of him, and didn't prepare my gun, or even keep an eye on him (Which I admit was foolish). I looked up at one point to realize that he had found an M4 also, but seeing as I was yet to find mags, I assumed so of him, too.

He armed his gun, and I spoke in chat.

"Don't shoot me. buddy. I was the friendly that you saw before. Remember I let you pass..."

I knew I was fucked, because I didn't have any form of melee weapon.

Before I knew it *click clack clack pew*. Shot dead.

"You fuckin' asshole" I shouted as the "YOU ARE DEAD" screen appeared.
That was the last time I ever assumed the best of people.

My friend managed to kill the phresh spawn, but I had spawned in an unfamiliar area, and thus began another wasted hour trying to find each-other.

Gotta love DayZ...

Why do you spell 'fresh' with a P-H but you spell phriendly with an F?

Weird.

I was fairly freshspawn... Axe, mask, backpack and some basic stuff. Runnin around ?kamenka? and there was 1 another freshpawn with no gear what so ever, we were just looting around no problems there... I started to run direction of the gas station/supermarket on the far west. Heard people talking through voip and turned around, at this point I was some 50-100 meter away from the city edge that I could barely hear them, coudnt make out what they talked tho. Soon I see 2 freshspawn running from the city, one was the guy I had met earlier so tought they are cool. Asked through voip if they needed something and stated that Im friend but I gues they didnt care as no reply yet they just talked each other earlier... saw their fists rise and they start to sprint around me swinning their fists. I sprinted and took my axe out... after that they died, I bandaged and eat an fresh apple while watching their bodies lay on the tarmac.

some random thoughts about this....I mean killing just for fun

- make guns more rare  ( especially military)

- make ammo extremely rare ( you should feel like a king having 10 rounds )

- make pristine weapon attachments for military weapons more rare

- extensive use of weapon degradation  ( less accuracy, weapon sway, weapon jamming)

- spread loot spawns for military weapons and ammo all over the map and not concentrate them at one location

- less guns etc spawning on empty servers

- more than one server change will let you respawn at the coast

- make shooting more risky ( depends on zombies of course...maybe spawn a few extra zeds if there is a lot of gunfire)

- tweak 3. person gamplay ( no more running around with a weapon equipped in 3.person )

- good and bad Karma...killing too many people in a specific timframe should change the characters appearance  ..for example wild staring eyes, dark eye shadows, shakes, scars, bloodspots, special idle anims etc

Would be nice, the lower the player population the lower the cycle of loot.

I also agree.

Lastly, the title made me expect something radically different. Oh well, there's other places I can find that sort of thing...

I dunno why I spelt 'fresh' with a ph to be honest. I must have been in one of those moods when I wrote the story. Sorry if it bothers you ^.^

Thats honestly a good idea, tie the loot cycle to active characters on the said server.
No more server hopping, with some "cooldown" (10mins etc) between disconnecting and joining a server again would be fine. Should not be a problem for legitimate players, if somene has so bad connection that it comes a problem.. its not our problem, or the devs for that matter.

To make the game more difficult?

It may or may not make the game more difficult but it would deter server hopping.  Imagine if the military loot spawned based on a player to loot ration (i.e. 1 m4 for every 5 players on the server).  No matter what the population is on the server, you always have a 1 in 5 chance at acquiring an m4.  This way, there's no incentive for someone to bounce around on low pop servers.  If / when the loot system becomes dynamic and not just or server restarts, this could work.  I like this idea.

The cool down timer is a good idea, but I think it should only apply to people that actually clicked exit.  I realize there are other ways to log out on purpse without clicking exit, but I don't think people whose connection dropped should be punished.  Just my opinion.
