spyre9 3 Posted December 29, 2013 Hey, got nagged and nagged and nagged to play this, eventually my mate bought it for me for christmas... WTF this is one of the best games I have played in 20 years of gaming! The best thing is... its HARD! I cant complete it in 6hrs... hell in 6 hrs id been mugged, bitten, clawed, axed, shot, starved, fell off a roof, bled out, prob shot some more... got a silenced M4 with clip then got gunned down while jogging... bloody brilliant! And I was turning all cynical watching the games of today turn into instant gratification eye candy which is impossible to loose at, but here we have full blown paranoia and opening cans of beans with an ax! I met one person who didn't fight me, mostly due to the ax i had and he didn't, the tension as stare at each other wandering if this is gonna go pear shaped... great fun besides he just wanted to know where we were... though if he had the ax... who knows! Getting fully kitted out and then getting gear sweats... I cant remember the last game where I could actually LOOSE EVERYTHING, prob in the 90's. Ok an X-ray spec'ed Zed interrupting my tuna break pissed me off, mostly due to the fact that, that would be a crap way to loose everything "I died eating tuna, a zombie was chewing on my arm but man that tuna was soo good i couldn't put it down". The whole KoS thing kinda pushes out that dynamic of dealing with people but i put that down to consol weened kids who think the 'end all' of a game is shooting everything that moves, man, makes me sound old. Steam name is Spyre9, Hello! and Thank you!
triage 117 Posted December 29, 2013 Welcome to the Dayz forums. You may experience some and or the follow things. These things include but are not limited to; Burning your computer from stupid topics, laughing, committing suicide over stupid topics made by children, nausea, slight headaches from KoS topics, and other various retardation about the forums. Enjoy your stay.
spyre9 3 Posted December 29, 2013 Thank you though your warning, I hope is not in reference into my post, its been a long time since I have found a hard game to be genuinely excited about that fills that niche for me. To be honest I one of the reasons I never bothered with this game is down to hearing in other games reference to the DayZ community. I'm grateful to my mate who finally got me to try this out and my experience has demonstrated that most of what I heard is unwarranted.
tommy290 941 Posted December 29, 2013 Welcome to the club. DayZ is a great game. I thoroughly enjoyed the mod, and so far have had fun with SA. There's lots of good info and tips around here, but be careful about posting without searching first. People will descend upon you like rabid dogs if you're posting something that's been posted many times before.

funky_mish 75 Posted December 30, 2013 Welcome. The road to a polished DayZ is going to be long and arduous, but survive the bugs and the children and you'll do just fine :D
Aussie Bogan 350 Posted December 30, 2013 WTF this is one of the best games I have played in 20 years of gaming Welcome! The best thing is the game will only improve...
dallas 5195 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) You've got the right attitude, hell I like you, you can have my beans. Don't let other players dictate, how you chose to play the game, but it's always good to keep in mind, guessing another player's motivation is always a guessing game. No need to put your trust and faith in another player's hands. Keep your distance to other players's axes, keep close to solid cover and when the shit hits the shit, get moving or go violent. bannworthrulz 24 Posted December 30, 2013 Hey Spyre great fire fight today, maybe we will win next time lol
spyre9 3 Posted December 30, 2013 Yeah was good, has to be said, two real options; get better at fighting or get better at hiding, with each encounter you learn a little more if your open to it. Mostly I found it comes down to the 'when', when to shoot, when to take cover and when to bandage.
