ericb 0 Posted December 29, 2013 Just curious, but are you guys seeing this when the servers switch to night? When I watch videos, night time is never this dark... Its impossible to see if theres a bush infront of me, or a cliff a couple of feet away. First pic is with gamma + brightness cranked up to max, second picture is normal 50% split. http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/702858037319344599/3AD8958CB1DE0460DE189BCCF62B3E3218DDE27C/ http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/702859018819092171/D82955481F4ED21C71E903305AC9BBCD6E3E7154/
svisketyggeren 662 Posted December 29, 2013 I wonder what ppl do when its dark...maybe get some type of light source..?? I might be way of bound here...but is it possible that a flashlight of some sort would do the trick..??
MrSliff 2 Posted December 29, 2013 DONT ADD NVGS PLZ
deevote 21 Posted December 29, 2013 Turn HDR from very low to low for better lighting.
Bakercompany86 347 Posted December 29, 2013 Yeah both are what I'm used to seeing at night, which is absolutely nothing at all. I can't play at night unless I jack up my gamma and I hate doing that. Also, flashlights are death beacons... Definitely welcome changes (addition) to moonlighting.
enforcer1975 1111 Posted December 29, 2013 That's what it usually looks like when it's night and you don't have a light source...
Hoj0 (DayZ) 31 Posted December 29, 2013 I barely ever see the moon out anymore lol
Jaygoon 240 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) Night can be unplayable, so people have to cheat and turn gamma up.A flaw in the game design.Rocket likes night time so he thinks the rest of us will too lol Edited December 29, 2013 by Jaygoon
desmond_hume 26 Posted December 29, 2013 clouds - disabledhdr - very low^ This did the trick for me. Night is still night (no brightness+gamma) but you can actually see. Outdoors, anyway..
combatcomm1 234 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) I wonder what ppl do when its dark...maybe get some type of light source..?? I might be way of bound here...but is it possible that a flashlight of some sort would do the trick..?? You are out of bonds there 2 Face. Rocket has already said that night is atrocious right now, and it is. Light source or not night is completely broken. There is no ambient light. If you look at the floor or wall in a building it is 100% black, like a texture is not even there. The only time I have ever experience 100% darkness is when on a cave tour and they turned off the lights. In the middle of National Forest at night with no light pollution it was dark but if I got up close in personal with a surface like my truck, my girlfriends face or a rock I could see it. Right now looking at anything but the sky it's the same darkness as the screen when you die. It is broken but like I said Rocket knows about it and I am sure it will look at least a little better. Someone on here posted a picture of nighttime at the military base north of Komarovo, forget what thread it was and it looked awesome. I don't know if it was doctored or what but that's how night should look, at least with light sources near by. Edited December 29, 2013 by VictorM
Zogvarn 118 Posted December 29, 2013 That picture was photoshoped to be a representation of what night should be like for the vast majority of players to actually enjoy it. And yes it was an awesome picture. I can't find it now though. Thought I had it saved somewhere dammit.
Mutonizer 78 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) Clouds disabled and very low HDR, then you can crank up gamma, works like day pretty much, but in grey shades. There is NOTHING to win however in Dayz so doing this is a personal choice: you choose not to play the game as it's designed. If you want immersion as the game intends however: Normal setting with clouds (even lowest, just not disabled) and use flashlights. It's....quite scary and really gets your blood pumping. :) Edited December 29, 2013 by Mutonizer
