byrgesen 1341 Posted January 17, 2014 We didn't expect the SA to be worse than the mod, don't get why they took so much out tbh. SImply to redo it, to fit the SA architecture better.Tons of stuff has been moved from client to server, most of the stuff they took out, was "not good enough" for the game yet. Diggydug (DayZ) 331 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) US 3480 is still popular and appears to have a lot of new guys trying out DayZ on it as well. Lately I've been just mucking about on casual Wasteland-ish servers that have a decent population of 20-30.Staying away from the standalone until server hopping is fixed and hopefully combat logging as well. Bush_Wookie10-4 61 Posted January 17, 2014 Still tons and tons of people playing the MOD. A lot on EPOCH, but still a good amount on Vanilla. I personally play EPOCH, as I have found a very very good server with regulars you see every night, and a almost perfect mix of Bandits and Heros, and new guys. Always great play.
Bernharde 4 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Some people are as crazy to have just bought it (four days ago), like myself. I also did it for Arma 2 (a realistic war simulator; might get Arma 3 after I upgrade my PC). I think I will wait with the SA when the game finishes. This game might have had a bigger community and currently the standalone version might be the one growing faster, but I still decided to go with the mod for the time being. There's still plenty of action to be found on the servers. Edited January 18, 2014 by Bernharde
TG ! Jimmy 216 Posted January 19, 2014 With the Arma2 sale on Steam, we've noticed a surge of new players joining US3480. Hell, the server was packed with 60 of 60 slots full almost all day yesterday. Even half a dozen or so folks playing in the wee hours now. We'd be happy to see you come join us! Cheers,Jimmy
Guest Posted January 19, 2014 The mod is good for killing time, and actually a great chance to learn you bearings of the south whilst having a map ICE. That way when you transfer to the SA you can tell where you are, where most things are without the need of a map

Cheers,JimmyYup, 3480 was pegged at 60 players almost all weekend (except for early hours of the morning). Not only that, but the action this weekend was phenomenal! Couple of long lasting battles for the Huey in Berezino and Nizhnoye, lots of action at NWAF and even NEAF. Heck, we got into it with some people in Rogovo last night! Such a great mix of experienced players and people that are new to the mod because of the Humble Bundle sale going on now. I honestly can say I don't remember having this much fun on the mod since early last year. Good stuff!
Jock McScottish 216 Posted January 22, 2014 Weirdly enough, after playing standalone only since its release I finally geared my guy up, loadsa grub, mosin rifle with jazzy attachment I found, my guy looks like a badass. & what happens? Instead of running around with my geared up guy looking for adventure and whatever comes my way I had a strange yearning to play the mod again today. So I hopped on vanilla, zeds everywhere, found a tractor with some fuel and hopped in and started driving. Felt bloody great! Driving around, food on doorsteps instead of having to run around inside houses all day, Folks jive talking on the side chat, to be honest I felt like I had more fun in the 15 minutes I played back on vanilla than the weeks I have been jogging around on the standalone dodging mask wearing gimps and guys with motorcycle helmets, but no motorcycle... Standalone looks terrific will be great in the long run, but right now it just feels cluttered & po-faced when you go back and play the mod again.
AngelEyes_666 13 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Epoch ftw! For xmas, I bought 5 copies of Arma2 for my friends and we all play now. SA is getting the mod even more attention. New players keep popping up in Epoch. Edited January 22, 2014 by AngelEyes_666
