First person only players need to band together

While I would prefer to play on first person only servers, I rarely played on them during my time on the mod. Why? Because the servers that you could find with 3rd person disabled were empty.

BUT, a mod called dayz caribou (by dayzero) had all first person only servers and the servers were usually full.

What is my point? Someone needs to lead the way to set a populated foundation for other players looking to play in first person.

The point of this thread:

I would like this to be a place (hopefully tagged to end all of these "remove third person" suicide missions) where people can pledge to play on first person only servers when they are available.

Hopefully a current/potential server host will see the demand that there is for first person only servers and advertise their wares here.

Converting entrenched 3rd person advocates is about as easy as forcing every American driver to ditch their automatic for a manual. They have become accustomed to a more comfortable, relaxed style of gameplay and change is scary.

Let's start advertising our manual sports cars to men who want a challenging, adrenaline pumping ride.

While snooping around earlier, one of our dignified brethren informed the masses that there was a patch available on steam that disabled 3rd person.

If this is our only option at the moment idk. If someone not limping around on a cellphone could provide a more informed response, we would all benefit.

The entire time I played the mod (couple years) and the majority of my time on DayZ has been spent in 3rd person. It started mostly because of the clunky feeling of ArmA 2's first person view, but with DayZ I've been switching back and forth more. Someone (can't remember who or where) posted a video on these forums by Dslyecxi that changed my mind entirely about 1st/3rd person view.

That being said, used to be a big 3rd person user, now more interested in 1st person only servers and the immersion it'll bring along with it. :)

All for a first person server i am sorry but the 3rd person in arma/dayz has always been an exploit yes one everyone can use but those who decide to camp from behind walls and use angle to see everything around them (thats impossible to see unless peaking out and in some cases not even then ) its well just cheap as you know you cant be seen its just wait wait theres another time to blast away.

 

The game is far more intense in first person honestly if they locked it now to just first person alot of people would complain may even loose a few people playing it but i think many in the end would value it greater (plus it would premote team work your view now is what you can see and what your friend can see and relay to you from his spot rather than your magical periscope.

 

Speaking of periscope always did want a mirror or such to peak around corners far more realistic way of seeing without risk than 3rd person lol ..

While having it as an OPTION may seem like it guarantees player traffic, it does not. We saw this in the mod. If this is because I am part of a very small minority, so be it. But if that is the case, we need to do a better job of concentrating that small population.

I appreciate your support ryzoh, but history has shown that we need to be more proactive if we want to attract a more refined crowd to a common playing field.

It's a reasonable idea, and one which has more promise than waiting for all servers to have third person removed. Such an event would likely alienate most of the playerbase, so it just isn't going to happen. Waiting and wishing is just time lost that could be better spent playing dayz. So yes definetly, band together and get a first person community up and running. It's the easiest way to get what you want from the game :D

 

And if I see any first person servers pop up, i'm cool to give them a try. Not picking any sides :)

I've seen your posts on the subject in other threads. While I agree with what you are saying, your delivery method is all wrong. You need to remember that this is a videogame forum. People will ignore your real argument and just continue to spray shit in your face until all you can do is the same.

If you would like to continue playing fun with feces, please take it elsewhere. I would like to keep at least this thread somewhat civil.

Yes! I loved Caribou mod & DayZero. 

 

I am like Sacriel (one of the best DayZ streamers imho). I would have preferred 3rd person was never introduced, but if I want to play on a server with decent amount of players then I need join a 3rd person server. I am not prepared to let other players have such an advantage over me if I was to use 1st person on a 3rd person server, so I too feel I am forced to use 3rd person to be competitive.

 

I would definitely play on a 1st person only server. Really hope there are some 'hardcore' or 'hard mode' servers out there soon. Things like no waypoints, no FOV changing, no 3rd person, no 24/7 daytime, no side-chat, no crosshair, log-out timer etc (anything I'm missing?) 

 

After 15 mins you forget about 3rd person and start to appreciate the added immersion the 1st person mode brings, and surely immersion is one of biggest draws to a game like DayZ?

 

Everything is much more intense in 1st person. DayZ is a PC fps game, not GTA...

Well, first person only player reporting to this thread!  :)  

I got around 400-500 hours of gameplay going solo all the way from the start(got vivid imagination, dont really need people around to have story), when i eventually realized you can adjust your head bobbing it was no going back to 3rd. I'm kind of player who really really feels like "i'm not playing a game, i am there."  I just dont understand people who never leave coast, never explore, care only about getting best loot as fast as possible to go KoS, never want to experience those cold rainy nights when you can't see s*it whats going on.

 

Anyway. Got nothing against teamplay as long as it's relaxed and not feeling like you are at work  :) And we definetly need 1st person only servers, but don't ban 3rd because life is good when there is a choice.

The immersion factor of 1st person only is huge for me .. the pvp in this (while much better) still has the cheap feel that warz did to me.  Its all just a huge camping game about who can wait peeking around the corner in 3rd person longest.  I'm not sure why there has to be so much hate between the 2 sides constantly tho, its not like both can't exist.  I know(hope) first person servers are coming soonish though and am prepared for the wait.

First person only servers should start appearing next week when the new patch is released, and according to Hicks there should be quite a few available

Mr. Jebus, you have the exact attitude and mentality I hope to harbor in this thread. If the masses would like to play a watered down version, let them. All we need is a small pool of the pure, terrifying stuff that is dayz. Glad to have you on board.

Edit: fluxley, knew I'd see you on here sooner or later. Thanks for the info on the first person only servers. I am currently traveling and only have access to a phone. Do you know where these servers will be hosted geographically?

Great initiative OP....and it seems some need a reminder that the players wanting 1st person only servers are NOT the minority. This was clearly shown in other threads and poll a while back. The problem is the majority of server admins enable 3rd person for strange reason.
