Where are the Remains/Bodies? Wheres the horror? To be added?

OP, what you're writing about is exactly what I'm planning with a terrain I'm currently working on.

I'll just leave the link here if you're interested, if not no harm done- I don't mean to derail this thread etc:

Great sounding & looking project. STALKER inspired - yes please - As much as I respect BI's Arma series for what it is I'm not "into" military shooters realistic or cod like, even though I own Arma2, but once again i may have to get Arma3 purely for mods such as this.

Fantastic mate, glad to hear you'd consider actually purchasing ARMA3 for this mod, that's very flattering.

I was very careful in choosing the ARMA3 engine to develop this mod, as the engines potential suits the STALKER aesthetic so well and all these little details you are writing about to increase immersion and horror can and will be easily implemented in the NOVA ZONA map.

DayZ needs more blood & gore, a LOT more.

My guess is, they are slowly bringing up the entities count on the servers at each revision. Not sure if you can imagine how difficult that is to deal with so many entities on a multiplayer game when you have new players joining all the time and a network bubble of close to 1km radius!

I did ask for proof (a link to an interview or you tube video of an expo etc) IF they were considering adding immersive scenery it wasn't a request, demand or impatient unaware of it being in alpha qq - we can assume they may or may not.

Ask any person a definition of a Zombie and most dont have 28 Days examples springing to mind.

Really, because Quarentine and 28 Days Later are exactly the type of zombie I tend to think of first because, baring the super fast infection rate, they are the most likely to actually occur. The dead rising up has so many issues with it that it is in the zone of Science-Fantasy while infected living "zombies" are at least in the realm of Science-Fiction.

I see you didn't read the part where I asked if anyone had heard if there were plans for the addition of immersive scenery and to provide links of such? no I guess it's too easy being a troll.

I see you really don't understand the point. The development at this stage is such they are more focussed on getting systems working and models made for items than in putting in immersive horror features. They have already done a pass on the map since the Mod's map and made it look a lot more rundown and like some things actually happened there. There are streaks of blood in all kinds of buildings and many other things. However, we can't provide you with them having talked about adding those elements you want in because the game is an ALPHA and they haven'g gotten around to the trivial bullshit yet as they are working on core mechanics and models.

There are mass graves at various points in Chernarus. I've seen one on the coast near a burned out bus and another at the unnamed train station NW of Lopatino. I imagine that these were infected that either died or were killed by the unknown international military force (UN, US and New Zealand at least based on clothing items) and Chernarussian defense forces. I also imagine that the majority of the survivors were evacuated (possibly to quarantine camps) and for some reason a few of us were left behind. I have no evidence for any of this though.

I quite like it clean.

What I eventually want to see though is more player created horror - blood trails/splatters, dead bodies decaying slowly, destructible environments, piles of dead zombies etc.

What he said!

It's my understanding that server and engine optimization will have to come first! >.> I want death by zombie, not death by low FPS!

I wouldn't mind more viscera, it would certainly be more immersive. And I think everyone agrees, devs included, that there should be more zombies that are more exhilarating to face in battle, and horrific enough to avoid. We have no envirnmental danger to speak of right now. That's why so many of us have taken to the sport of killing each other. The human threat is the only threat out there!

I know its alpha but why is the current development focused mainly on fleshing out the barebones gameplay mechanics instead of adding polish to the world?!

Jesus christ this place some days...

I fully understood your post - what is there that's that complicated only someone with your supreme intellect would get?

.

As for "we can't provide you with them having talked about adding those elements you want in because the game is an ALPHA and they haven'g gotten around to the trivial bullshit yet as they are working on core mechanics and models."

1/ I provided a video (see below) that highlights a lot of "trivial bullshi"  <_< (such as changes to building interiors) the reason I posted that video was to show a/ how much I was aware of what was being added or intended to be added and b/ that I was aware of development plans or practices.

and 2/ those working on "core mechanics and models." aren't the same department working on interiors & maps (I'd thought you have known this  )

3/ oh its in Alpha is it?

enjoy :-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKwMVPETfs0#t=3059

so if you did understand my op (as you claim) the your reason for posting must just have been due to your busting to scream a more colourful wordy version of "Its still in alpha"  (as you do say it twice above) or didn't read the entirety of the op.

Once again I refer back to my previous reply, If you don't have proof of there being plans or not to add more immersive scenery there's little point in guessing and providing reasons for those guesses.

What's funny is you talking about me not getting your comment when you liked the post above from Hells High who is actually supporting adding polish to the world not fleshing out the barebones gameplay mechanics..... unless it was your intention to contradict yourself that is. :D

He was being sarcastic.

The point is that what you are asking for is in the "finishing touches" catagory of game design. Obviously horror elements are not going to work if they are static and always there. Point in fact is the fact that you do not once mentions the static ones that already exist like the smears of blood and scratches that are around the world showing where struggles have taken place.

I am simply saying that it is very unlikely to find any mention of these things because it is unlikely the developers are thinking on these terms yet. "Severed Limbs" is not a requirement for the game to function it is atmosphere. It gets added in towards the end of development. Esepcially if it is going to be dynamic and I believe the only way for these things to offer the propper feel is for them to be dynamic. You don't want your players to go, "Oh I found it in the house where the guy hung himself." "Is that past the severed arm on the corner or is it the one before you get to the pile of instestines?

In other words I think you are asking about this a little too early because.. you know.. Alpha.

Sarcastic?

If it helps you sleep & even if he is being sarcastic (oh good another its alpha troll) it's not what I'm saying. I'm not asking (as I've stated at least 5 times now) for these things to be added NOW or even asking for them directly, I'm asking if there has been any discussion of intent to add such and if so to supply links to interviews, videos, twitter messages etc - its gets kind of tiresome repeating myself when all it takes is 10 seconds for the "its alpha" trolls to read.

Re the rest (aside from you just repeating yourself) If you watch the video I supplied you would see the mention of interior "decorating" ie the added blood so don't you think that it might just possibly, maybe, have slightly been thought about just once or a 100 times that they may or may not be considering adding further immersive decor? I'd hazard a wild guess to yes. In fact I'd be certain that everything that will eventually be in the game has already been decided upon months and months ago.

Is it alpha? really /sarcasm

Please stop derailing the thread with glorified "Its alpha" comments.

Okay for the record, as I've seen this mass graves thing mentioned several tines before - it was part of the egame storyline from Arma2 regarding ethnic cleansing. They're in the same spots as in that campaign, pusta etc.

Yes I'm aware of that but thanks for pointing it out for others. Tbh I thought they had been removed from SA as the one behind the office an NEAF has gone (unless I missed it.)

I would definity like a darker tone.

- More gore

- Mutilated corpses

- Mutilated zombies

- More signs of military involvement

- Mass graves

- Mutated zombies (It would make sense to me that the infection could cause mutations changing the zombies them selfs as seen in other games)

- Scarier zombie sounds. The ones implemented now are laughable, and add more humour than horror.

- More sadistic outfits... Like being able to remove another players face after you kill them and wear it.

The whole shabang

Eventually when the zombies and onscreen objects reach the level of Left 4 Dead or Dead Rising, then there'll be gore. Zombie AI currently takes up a lot of space, so there aren't very many. They are trying to simplify the coding for it, and then hopefully when they reach that level, we'll get gore
