Let people play as they wish for the love of God!

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Long time player of the mod and stuck in a good few hours on the SA.

I play in a little partnership with my mate and we are advocates of the Mosin and thus tend to get geared up fairly easily within a short reach of the coast.

Our play style is basically what may be described as bandit but more accurately psychopathic.

We like to set up ambushes in and around the coast and then basically shoot on site or play the friendly card until a better shot is on.

I would say if a fresh spawn complies with what basically amounts to bullying then he has a 50/50 chance of survival on contact with us.

Submission pose is highly recommended and I think is a seriously good addition to the game. At this stage we may make a series of silly demands till the victim either asks for death or complies. At that stage believe it or not there is a half decent chance of survival.

Other encounters might be trying to zero a rifle properly and just picking off a coastal wanderer. If someone has sod all on them we will absolutely give them a chance to just suffer minor humiliation and be sent on their way. Once again for all people suffering this kind of bullying I would say you increase your chances of living by letting the nutters have their kicks for a while and maybe even adding some humour of your own.

Met plenty of well armed players as you do now at the coast with M4 as it is and equally they have been badly treated with long range kills before they get in range or a false friendly intro followed by one between the eyes. Plenty of gun fights too and so far we have rode our luck with the kill count at about 20 players.

Between this we hike north and enjoy the wilderness, check out the sights and generally go into survival mode. We take stock and go back to the coast and setup for some ambush fun.

So that how we roll but to my point - so bloody what?

If you want to go and be an adventurer and scale the highs and lows on the map , go for it enjoy. If you want to be a good guy protecting the weak against psychopaths like us, that's great too. Be a hermit and never meet a player or sit in a cabin and read one of the many books or I dunno create the ultimate collection of can openers but whatever the hell it is , do what appeals to you.

There are exceptions but have you noticed how a good bunch of the "hero" types roll about in posses of 5 plus armed to the tits? Tell you what I will be a hero too with that backup! So sure bandits may piss you off but let them play, equally heroes well done for creating balance in the force. Even the little guy who is sequentially climbing the peaks in the game and logging the results - well done! (but you should get out more).

It would be frigging boring if we were all the same. Yeah there is a huge element of instant death on player interaction within the game. Those are the breaks and you know what I like being shit scared as a new spawn about electro because I know another bastard like me could be scoping me on the hill. Gets the heart going and adds to the game.

Play as you see fit, enjoy and focus on that element. Equal love to the heroes and bandits (and the rest) we make Dayz the great experience it is!

Isn't this the reason in the first place why Day Z is so successfully and top seller ? Letting people do what ever the fuck they want.

You want to kill 20 bambis ? Do it

You like the thrill to approach 10 people with a gun, to try to talk with them ? Do it ( With NO KOS rule there is no thrill, you never get shot, where is the fun ? )

You like to sit in the woods and wait 2 hours for people running through the city / airfield ? Do It ! ( Without that everyone could run careless everywhere )

So why the fuck people still complain.

It's only up to the developers to dictate the rules. And after this great start of DayZ SA I have a lot of faith into rocket and his team.

Mark my words, at the end of 2014 we have the best current game ever.

Perhaps KoS'ing new players is great fun. Perhaps its also a great way to turn some away from this game. Discouraging new players from playing is a poor way to promote this game as a player. IMO the bigger the player base, the longer this game will remain relevant.

Essentially you are RP'ing a murderous maniac who kills only for the sheer pleasure of it. That's all good and sounds damn fun to me, but KoS breeds KoS. There's a lot to gain from helping players out, and actually a lot of murdrerous action can result from trying to do good for bad people!

I encourage everyone to walk every path the game offers at some point!

DayZ just isn't for the type of person that would quit the game over that.

I agree with you to be honest, I would never do it because to put it simple I'm not good enough at the game to! I would be like "Freeze Nub *slide falls off pistol* " After all you did pay for the game and it is an apocalypse "simulation" if you will, a world where people will do literally ANYTHING to survive the next day, including putting down the odd person to achieve that, that's the thrill I think! Running from guys who want your shirt for bandages and your beans for dinner is what makes DayZ enjoyable!

But no one wants your beans for dinner and they don't care about your shirt. Can't loot it anyways.

I agree, except for killing 20 bambis, this game is supposed to be hard, and supplies, ammo are supposed to be hard to find, so shooting 20 bambis sounds retarded, because it gives you no profit, no ammo, no supplies to loot, it's just wasting ammo, and it's retarded

HAcking is a style of play, why don't we just let evryone do that eh?

In my opinion Hacking is when someone Cannot play, obviously there's some limits :P

I let everyone play as they wish.

As long as they enjoy respawning, giving me their gear, and not stepping outside the boundaries of Kamenka.

Eh, I get my kicks out of surviving, and long scoping the high traffic areas. Pretty simple targeting really, has an m4 raised, see if you can neck shot em.

"Let people play as they wish for the love of God!"

SOUNDS GREAT, NOW GIVE ME A WAY TO IDENTIFY BANDITS SO I CAN PLAY AS I WISH AND KOS YOU AS A SURVIVOR.

I've never had a problem with people KOS'ing new spawns. You lose next to nothing and perhaps position and it gives you a reason to be fearful and play carefully. My only problem is that the each server is like a different dimension and you've now way to track down those players and get some revenge or even just kill some bandits via a well planned, fun, KOS, because there is no bandit identification for survivor players. It would be nice IMO if the game had a semi-story tacked onto it that made bandits military personnel and mercenaries, taking out civilians in the hopes that it would prevent the disease/virus from further spreading. Then survivors on the other side.

i dont mind that, is just KOS people that just spawned 2 secs ago that sometimes piss me off, honestly is just a waste of bullet doing that, but doing ambushes and kidnapping and what not thats real banditry. I guess i roll more like a merc, leave me alone and i wont mess with ya and if i feel that it is a threat i take it down, or at least try lol

Yes you have nailed it there buddy in the RP element. It's about doing "the other" , that alternate option a true human driven experience like Dayz gives you. When playing alone I switch and sometimes explore those other play styles you mention. I did a day of "helping" and it was mildly satisfying I have to say. Maybe my play partner brings out the Bateman in me but in partnership we still help people (to the afterlife that is!)

One thing I have to say is that players put off by psychos will most likely be put off anyway , through elements such as death by starvation , zombie or plain accident.

If I get killed and of course I will, my attitude will be to swear a bit and then go and find the bugger who was smarter/a better shot than me on that occasion!

Killing fresh spawns on the coast lol, so all you do is sit in a bush and shoot everyone one the coast, who just spawned, sounds very hard and rewarding...

we saw a guy that had just spawned, ran down and said 'friendly', which we were, as we killed a zombie that was attacking him....he was hit so we asked him to submit as we wanted to make sure he was not going to attack us, as we were armed he did. I then handcuffed him and bandaged him up and let him drink from the water fountain..., just as mooky was about to interrogate him I shot him in the back of then head while he was on his knees....end of story.
