DayZ is FailZ (Lacklustre Infected comment)

Actually I'd be happier if there were no zombies and servers could handle 100 players.

I mean seriously....I know it started as a zombie survival horror game, but perhaps a survival simulation can stand on its own without fairy tale monsters to justify it? I mean....seriously, other human beings are capable far more horrific evil than any twisted creation of our imaginations will ever be.

I'd trade zombies for...yanno, really scary crap, like a 350 pound dude wearing high heels and thigh high stockings and nothing else except someones intestinal tract wrapped over his chest like bandoliers and a necklace of dried human fecal matter.....who is covered in blood and has a machete and keeps calling me "Mother" as he backs me into a corner.

I mean seriously, people are way scarier than zombies. I'd like to see a mainstream game grow the balls to try that level of reality on for size one of these days...til then I guess we'll continue complaining about how "not scary" our chosen fairy tale monster is.

Alpha alpha. That shit is so annoying. He isnt talking about the amount of zombies. He is talking about the fact these zombies suck. I almost guarentee ill still have mr gorilla man chasing me in the beta and retail version.

They needed to make the zombies scary from the start otherwise theyd have to start all over again. Check out the zombies in breaking point. Ten times better animations. And i imagine mod makers dont have the mocap resources bohemia has.

If we dont let the devs know what we hate now, how do they know what to prioritize later.

I agree the hate in this thread is ridiculous. Poor OP got hit hard but that doesn't make the main point any better.

He complains about zombies when they have already been acknowledged by Rocket. Wait until the changes come and THEN give feedback. It's like a mechanic saying, "That'll patch 'er up for now and it'll drive, but bring it back in about a week or two and we'll have it good as new," only to have the customer complain that it's not "good as new" two days later.

People complain about the lack of guns, as if that's going to make more guns appear. People complain about the northern wastes, as if that's going to add cities to it. People complain about server hoppers, as if that's going to patch them away.

It's been acknowledged, let the devs change something before complaining further, or let more time pass before complaining it's taking them too long.

Where is the harm in suggesting how you want zombies to be? Yes the OP provided feedback about the zombies while in a very early stage of release, but he did suggest how he'd like to see them in the future. Does everyone think Rocket is psychic and will implement exactly what we want? Of course not, therefore we should be making suggestions about the path of future development.

I feel that people need to stop using the "Alpha" defence, Yes the game is in early alpha, yes things are not working as they should be, yes some features of the game are not even working yet but when a player, who by the way paid his money just like the rest of us to help the dev team in this alpha process states something that he does not like we need to take the comment as feedback not just come at him with the "HURR DURR ALPHA NUB".

Above that, the zombies are (For reasons rocket has mentioned) cut back to the bare bone numbers at the moment and they are working on the AI, but truth be told, both the Mod and the SA have always to me been more about the survival tha the zombies, unless they change the way zombies work in general the only thing increasing the numbers will do is piss people off even more rather than make you fear them XD

I think this would actually make a good mod when DayZ becomes available to the community.

Get rid of zombies.

Have a higher number of players or if that isn't possible a smaller map to increase likelihood of player encounters.

Have loot much more scarce to increase what players are willing to do to get it.

Add the ability to cook and eat the flesh of dead players.

Omg Omg this is an Alpha....

They said it so many times more zombies are coming...

Seriously is this response we get for everything on these forums?

We know it is an alpha we know more zombies are coming!

That is not the issue, more zombies mean nothing when they are not a threat!

They were not a threat in the mod just some annoying glitched out feature of the game you could easily avoid or trick into getting stuck out of the way.

It is the same thing with the zombies we have in the standalone so far they do not pose a threat when you can easily avoid, kill, or get stuck because they just a glitched out feature.

Like the OP said zombies should be feared.

Also they should work.

Like others say on the forums Dayz is hardcore if you do not like go play cod!

You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease.

I agree, zombies need to be feared, as for "them being some annoying glitched out feature", well guess what, ALPHA, if you think they are going to remain the same just with more zombies, you are very clearly mistaken, it has been addressed, not just zombie counts, but the existing zombies are PLACEHOLDER, the pathing, the AI, the counts, and the various zombie behaviors.

Have you seen the zombie leap at a player and knocking them over yet? no probably not, you might have seen them do some glitchy leap thing, but otherwise doesn't seem to do anything, because its not finished, because guess what, alpha.

I agree that not everything should be shouted "ALPHA!" at, people are fine if they have ideas, the fact of the matter is, Rocket has said plenty of times the existing zombies are not their final state, and the number of zombies is limited due to server performance(needs more optimizations), the focus for DayZ right now is the core mechanics, the foundation in which other mechanics rest on or interact with, then they will do more with zombies.

So, the key: its been addressed already by the devs, its already planned, it doesn't exist yet, because its alpha.

And I'm not even sure if the melee can be fixed as it wasn't exactly meant to be part of ArmA 2, especially the animations and how we hold the items... I'm hoping Rocket proves me wrong in that respect XD

May have missed a similar reply but as for zombies and punching:

It kind of makes sense. These are not your classic ZOMBIES ("undead") but INFECTED. I rather like to think of 28 days later than Romeo.

The Zombie genre is about social interaction between humans. Dayz does that well, so when the zombie numbers rise it'll be great.
