Consider prioritizing this in upcoming fixes.

Recommended Posts

1. No. Melee weapons are plentiful.

2. Slightly, sure, but it's not that big of a bother to me.

3. No.

4. No.

This isn't Mount and Blade and we're not aiming for every aspect to be super realistic. Stop pulling the realism card. You want realism only when it's convenient, you're not complaining that we can run nonstop and down gallons of water in one sitting are you; stop complaining that waking up on the beach without a weapon isn't realistic.

People already punch each other as it is anyway when they see another fresh spawn. Weapons have never improved those relations.

Rethink it? Okay. ... Mhmmmm hummmm.  Yeah I still think it needs to be in there to compensate for not letting my character pick up objects in the game world and use them as melee weapons.

Your advice is useless as is my usual practice and has yielded similar results.

So you want to spawn in with a melee weapon cause you can't use objects that IRL could be used as such?

Zombies are realllyyyyyyyyyyyyy easy in this game. I actually preferred how unpredictable the ones from the mod were, even though they were more due to lag and limited design. But, you can outrun any zombie, they're really not even worth dealing with. Maybe with a lot of zombies it'll make sense why they're so easy, but you can pretty much ring around the rosy with a bunch of them and still live.

This is pretty much all you have to do with a melee weapon, notice how I sorta brush them towards my right so ensure I hit them and I try to aim up for their head. Punching is the same, one hit to their head and they're down.

The difficulty isn't in the fact you can run away, the difficulty is the fact that you are near dying of hunger/thirst and the only homes that have food in it u can't stop at cuz of zeds on your tail.

A melee weapon should be in the spawning load out.

Please, no. We all saw what happened with starting weapons in the mod. Noob corpses scattered like beached whales. The game has been infinitely better since removing the starting weapon. And before you say "Those were guns, this is a melee weapon!" it really wouldn't matter one bit. People would still run around smashing each other's faces.

So run for 15 seconds?

No realism card applies. While zeds aren't realistic we are operating in a military sim game where realistic physical features apply like bullet drift. And yes even arm reach not being as long as weapon reach applies.

I believe that would compensate

They follow longer esp when u come back to get the food you need or starve.

Do you want me to make a video of me simply punching zombies?

It is really, really, reallyyyyyy easy. I could go aggro 5 zeds and still be able to loot the house you speak of.

I'm sure they have lots of fixes coming in the next patch.

I think for now, server stability and cheating is their priority as it should be.

Absolutely don't think you should spawn with a melee weapon.

I do think weapons should be a bit more specialised though. At the moment there is no benefit to using anything other than a fireaxe.

Some suggestions might be

Baseball bat - good at breaking bones.

fire extinguisher - short range but good at knocking out

fire axe - pretty good at knocking out, causes lots of bleeding.

knives - bleeding

I know this is more PVP interactions this would apply to but right now its just fireaxe or nothing.

1. We should spawn with a melee weapon because this game should strive for some degree of realism.

Then don't say we should be striving for realism.

This also isn't ArmA 2 and is not a military sim. STALKER games have bullet physics but it's far from a simulator.

In that case once they add vehicles and there will be some that you can't enter you will request to spawn in with one as well, because you need to be compensated for laziness?

This game has bullet physics. They have this for realism of the game. I make no claim that the game needs to be 100% realistic, but to assert that the game needs to differenciate between arm distance and arm + weapon distance isn't a stretch.

Your personal attacks do not add any credit to your argument. You should rise above that.

But being you opened an interesting topic, I would like to see all cars thart aren't enterable, to have a chance of having a lootable car part so I can repair wrecks. The part should take up a lot of pack space tho.

If i recall correct Rocket did mention something about scavenging parts of broken vehicles. But that is far future from now.

Arm distance and weapon distance are not what I was referencing. It's the one I'm actually okay with them changing, I even said this already.

You said,

1. We should spawn with a melee weapon because this game should strive for some degree of realism.

That's when you pulled the "realism card". The game is obviously going to have some realism going on, that's what we all fell in love with in the mod, but it's not aiming for the most realistic experience ever so there's no need to use it in any argument to support your ideas.

I'm just tired of so many suggestions having "realism" to back them up only because it's convenient for that specific suggestion. Ignoring all the unrealistic aspects that make the game playable.

Your exhaustion or tiredness not withstanding its a moot point. Arma3 Breaking point has their characters start with a melee weapon and it works out well. Besides, when bandts are walking around with m4s who cares if you started with a shovel or your fists. On the other hand it compensates for a unrealistic aspect of this game and that is the inability of our characters to fashion melee weapons as ppl would if thisactually happened.

I don't care what ArmA 3 Breaking Point does...they also can't punch with their fists can they?

Obviously you care who starts with a shovel or our fists. Why do you keep mentioning realism? I'm just going to ignore that. You can't argue for realism here and not there.
