Frostbyte_ 44 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Yet another M4 accuracy thread, cause might as well, iron sights this time. (might not be available in HD yet, in that case, just wait a bit) Edited December 25, 2013 by Frostbyte_

MCRoadkill 7 Posted December 25, 2013 I wish you would be able to switch fire modes, single shot, burst, full auto. That way the m4 serves a bigger purpose. Can shoot a lot better with single shot, I dont't use full auto, the recoil on the m4 is to big for distance shots in full auto. EndEffeKt 87 Posted December 25, 2013 Seems very accurate in contrast to all the whining I have read the last couple of days. I have only used the mosin by now.
Zogvarn 118 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Seems very accurate in contrast to all the whining I have read the last couple of days. I have only used the mosin by now.Uh no. In that video it is only somewhat accurate when he was using the bipod. Without the bipod he couldn't reliably hit a target even 200m away. The inaccuracy of the M4 is just ridiculous currently. 032125 (DayZ) 91 Posted December 25, 2013 I'd love it if you could drop your ruck and use it to stabilize the rifle from the prone. Obviously there would need to be animations for this, but in my experience bipods are great from the bench and a pain in the ass everywhere else. These days all of my bipods are sitting in a drawer, and I stuff a rucksack with blankets for the range. Shooting off a ruck > shooting from a bipod. And remember, good firing positions are a luxury. Maybe thats intentional. It forces the m4 to be used as a close to medium range weapon. If a person wants something that is better a longer range the pick a mosin or other precision rifle over an m4. frosti 2165 Posted December 25, 2013 From my personal expirences m4 is reliably accurate on distance 100m. Further then that randomnes begins. And I am ok with it.
Frostbyte_ 44 Posted December 25, 2013 One more thing i forgot to point out earlier is that at distances of 200m or more, it takes 2 body shots to take down a zed, so i´d say ironsights with bipod can accurately hit human size target at 200m.
Mind Killer 7 Posted December 25, 2013 M4A1's realistically should be able to hit targets realiably (assuming the shooter doesnt suck balls) at roughly 500m. This game prides itself on realistic things, and uses the arma engine FOR realistic firefights, but the M4A1's accuracy in this game is unrealisticly behind its real world counterpart, and im pretty sure nobody is complaining about the bipod, they're complaining about the gun itself, sure using a bipod helps the accuracy greatly, but there are VERY few situations that you will be reliably using the bipod on an M4 in the middle of a firefight. The problem is without the bipod, the guns inaccuracy is unrealistic and unintuitive.
frosti 2165 Posted December 25, 2013 M4A1's realistically Let's not bring or talk realism in video games. M4 as it is now is in my opinion good for gameplay.

My AR-15 hits decent at 300m. Of course it has a comp barrel and there's where I could see Dean adding different barrels. But, none the less, the M4A1's stock barrel is still pretty good. autoloon 285 Posted December 26, 2013 Could the inaccuracy problems have anything to do with how the central server is handling items? I have seen quite a few weapon modules blink in and out of existence due to server side lag. If weapon modules are in fact constantly coming in an out of the game, this could possibly be the cause of the accuracy problems. Of course, I am no expert. Does that make sense? Shadyfizzle 80 Posted December 26, 2013 You can switch firing modes from single to auto, also i have been experiencing a bug when shooting from prone that causes the bullet to impact the ground directly in front of the muzzle.
