Any of the pre-release devblogs. Rocket has said countless times that he wants to focus on civilian and low grade military weaponry as .50cal rifles, TWS, etc. do not fit the setting.

 

I so rarely disagree with rocket. That's just stupid. What is a setting in which military assault rifles "fit" but sniper rifles do not? Weird. Oh, well.

If they add .50 cals (or other heavy duty rifles) they should include wind, of which there obviously is and make them a pain in the ass to lug around. No stuffing them in a pack so you can carry an assault rifle as well. Quick to damage and become nigh ineffective, and rare as hell. However, with server hopping being so easy the rarity won't even stop most people so until that's solved, no.

 

 

The only reason people want these rifles is for easy sniping on other unsuspecting players just to be dicks. I'm okay with killing, I killed a guy 50m away from me today because him and his pal were probably responsible for two other murders and I was saving my own hide. 

However, getting rifles like this for the sake of camping up with your beans and canteen to ruin other peoples' day is just not what I think the SA is about, otherwise ammo would be a bit more plentiful, along with scopes and compatible rifles.

I love having attachable scopes, even for a good range, but not crazy powerful anti-material rifles to go along with them when we don't even have "material" to shoot at yet. They're only used for killing someone who isn't a threat that didn't know you even existed anyway.

 

Marksman rifles should be about as high as it goes if you ask me. (SVD and DMR...if the DMR even)

Because that's all people want to do. Troll player trying to play this game. You want to pvp? Meet them on the field head on. Don't hide 800 meters out to kill players and not even loot them. I snipe on the Mod and there is nothing satisfying about it.

If that statement is you, then go play a battlefield 4 or Call of Duty. Or wait......you can play ARMA 2 and ARMA 3.

Snipers kinda ruin a zombie apocalypse game. Fight someone for their loot, not just to troll other players cause you think it's skills.

Also, hearing stuff like this just makes me wanna build a rifle that is as close as possible to a sniper, chill myself on Vysota with some beens and snipe everything that moves, maybe you can see no joy in sniping, other people do.

so what, what makes you think that you couldnt find it in a military base, maybe youd have to replace your backpack for it or something to make it a pain in the ass to carry around, but just leaving it out? DayZ without AS50 is no real DayZ. The AS50 was always like the high end goal to archive, along with a car.

This reminds me of CSGO where everybody calls out hacks when somebody is better than them. Banditry is a part of survival, and youll probably never know what you would do in a real life situation since you wont be in a zombie apocalypse so dont come with that shit. If I snipe someone in BF4 there is no reward, if I snipe someone here I have loot. There is just no real reason to not add them, its just little kids like you crying that make other kids cry even more.

Also yes, hand selecting the best performing and most accurate hunting/service rifles and adding precision optics to them is literally creating a sniper rifle. Just because they now make dedicated sniping rifles doesn't change that.

 

Edit: Also the Remington 700 is a hunting rifle that military and law enforcement adopted for sniping.

Are there any scopes that fit on the M4? I've found two, but neither fit. The only mod I found that did apply was the bipod, and I'm not sure it had an impact, as the character was wiped before I got a change to fire it.

Well it was removed from the mod way back... And IMO it changed DayZ for the better.

You can fit an ACOG sight to the M4 which gives a decent amount of zoom.

 

You can make the same argument about assault rifles or pretty much anything except shotguns and hunting rifles which is boring.

 

To a much lesser extent. None of the rifles that will be featured in the game are as heavy or require the same amount of maintenance as a .50cal.

An M4A1 is very different to a .50 caliber sniper rifle.

 

.50 caliber sniper rifles won't be added because

-  they don't fit the enviroment, (the AS50 nor the M107 is a Russian weapon),

 

- they are waaayyyy too OP (and no, getting sniped doesn't mean you suck, what about all the looters who are minding their own buisness in Elektro when someone pops them from 900m away for no reason? They aren't even a threat and they get killed)

 

- no average person can carry around a 15kg anti-material rifle and operate it with no previous training

 

- just because there are military bases doesn't give them the incentive to add .50cal sniper rifles. Why not add jets, tanks, helicopters and APCs too?

Someone is mad about being bad and getting their ass shot up by a smart sniper. And for the record - going head on against someone is neither smart nor manly. It's just someone being retarded. A smart guy won't even allow his target to spot his muzzle flash, let alone spot his hideyhole but here's this guy who would need a kill cam because he's too dumb and stuck up to admit that he got outsmarted.

Going by your completely retarded logic someone with a Mosin is "OP" and a coward too if he's hiding while shooting while he's just being smart about surviving. Nice logic there.
