The game needs a bandit system/rewards for being either good or bad

Recommended Posts

I'll go ahead and say I haven't sat and read through this thread yet, but I'm currently not in favor of this.

DayZ is kind of an experiment, right? Let's see how it goes.

After my first full day of getting to play I met one guy who tried to kill me immediately. Was checking out the new military camp near Zeleno/Pavlovo and he tried to sneak up on me, unaware my friend was watching my back.

This was after I tried to initiate conversation with him, as I knew he was in the area.

That's one guy. Three guys had me and my pal outgunned and outnumbered, and they said to just go away and we went separate ways.

Another stranger just before my would-be murderer was "jogging" by and simply shouted "Sup?!" and we kept on going. I think he was killed by my would-be-murderer...

My point: I've actually met many more people willing to at engage over direct to diffuse a situation so far than I have who stay silent and try to get a kill. Let's see how it plays out. It's new, many people are new and may just not be confident in their abilities, but I want to see how it goes before we decided to affiliate people with this or that based on how they play.

hey OP, thanks for the memories :) I remember reading similar threads since the beginning. This topic and the permanent removal of 3rd person (exploiting) were always the hottest topics. I believe the Oculus "VR" DayZ version (whenever that's achievable) will solve the latter. But as for regular SA, you will be forced to play in 3rd person to survive - sure it sucks balls, is completely unrealistic, game breaking, not fun and just plain stupid pandering to imaginary conditions - but deal with it - people need their 3rd person crutch to feel less 'afwaid'. Same applies to bandit skins, they were attempted - but became the #1 reason for hacking (as in the unskilled, hacking to get the skin) We really don't need that again. Believe me, Bandit skinzzz just becomes an incentive for the kiddies.

It was the oversimplified humanity system that was flawed in the mod, not the skins. I agree there absolutely needs to be some sort of system in place making it possible to tell whether a player is a serial murderer.  It doesn't have to be a skin. Small visual clues that you can notice up close would be enough.

The devs basically went screw it on the bandit system because they did not refine the solution and simply dropped it. And now it appears dayz retail will be stuck in shoot on sight hell for ever

No. Bandit/Hero system was terrible and I for one do not want that or anything similar to that system implemented in SA.

Because they dropped even trying something in the mod. And all attempts have been esoteric. Look at the game now: Guns are much rarer in the last patches. And this only delays the problem because players have to find guns first but they will still shoot on sight. And rocket will be all like "naa lets maik the gaime about the pleya and his stoooory" (new zealand accent
