  1. Playing hardcore means basically more fun, more immersion, less hackers, less glitchers, less whiners (e.g. people who play hardcore are able to press the ALT key), less KOS, more Z's (from my experience anyway) and stealth actually meaning a shit. Basically playing hardcore will make you a sexual tyrannosaurus, much like chewing tobacco. B)

How important should vehicles Be in the SA?

I'm all for lots of vehicles, but only without offensive capability whilst driving (e.g. bike, motorbike, ATV). Cars, tanks, planes, heli's etc should be much rarer and spawn in deteriorated state. Possibly cars should be more abundant and driveable. It's not like cars aren't abundant already (~10 billion roadworthy vehicles exist on earth, yes much more cars than people).

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

Ok, that fix is great, but doesn't really apply to DayZ as most are spotting while running and in partial LOS. The idea of 3D sound is good, too bad Creative killed Aureal Semiconducter over a decade ago, which has retarded the growth of the 3D sound encoding. Humans have a great sound detection facility on the horizontal plane, however - when sounds are coming from an azimuth higher than our head we can barely precept what direction the sound came from. This is why you see dogs (or any animal with ears) tilt their head to locate a sound that wasn't immediately perceptible. The solution to this problem is head tracking, however the current headtrackers (TrackIR) and VR systems (Oculus) aren't nearly fine enough to tackle the problem. ARMA might well have been one of the best engines to create such a system (legacy AL2 code already there), however since Oculus was bought by AssBook, chances are 3D sound (much like sound and music in video games in general) will be again ignored in favor of graphical performance. Ahh, I remember those days when I used to walk around in CS1 hearing up to 3rd tier reflections of opponents and knowing exactly where they were in the map. Shiiiit - was that over 10 years ago? Thanks Creative, for using your hordes of cash and lawyers to fuck over Aureal - well done... now noone gets any decent sound.
  4. played 60+ hrs from the get-go of SA. First month or two encountered not one single hacker. Rejoined again about a month ago and have encountered many different types of hacker, mainly esp-tele-godmode dudes. Seen it all, the aforementioned hacks exist - however I still play, it kinda makes the game more exiting. Like when you enter a mil-loot area and expect random loggers to drop in. Except that now, the whole fucking game area is like that - meh, keeps me on my toes. Last hacker I encountered was god mode guy that teleported to me (we were the only two ppl on server) - I chopped him like 5+ times in the head with a pristine fireaxe before he managed to shoot me - not a drop of blood. Suck ass, but that's online gaming yo! When everything can be rendered 100% from the a server, then we will have games that "can't" be hacked. It's only a decade or so off.

    Why is hardcore so underpopulated?

You just answered the Jeopardy question: What question did the mainstay user of the ARMA series ask on the DayZ forums, before the creator left and the gameplay remained a boring 2 perspective running simulator? Don't worry no one will care in a year. All they (Bohemia) had to do was grow a pair, stop being greedy and make solid decisions. Basically they should have just removed 3PP, but no - the whiners win again. Gotta get that console money yo! Now with Dean leaving, the whole things doomed - uninstalling SA as I write this. FUCK YOU BOHEMIA. P.S. I'm never posting here again, so fuck all you 3PP whiners too, you helped make the game shit.
  6. My 2 cents here. I think Boho just wanted a game that would bring the 'non hardcore' into the ARMA series. With DayZ they sold lots of ARMA2 but failed to get anyone interested in their milsim concept. Then as the money poured in, they became typically conservative and stopped Dean from making ANY radical changes (e.g. remove 3rd person) that would make the game too 'hardcore' and scare off potential ARMA sales. In doing so, they failed to win ARMA users and failed their own community. Its lose-lose, and with Dean not being compensated accordingly and with no go ahead from Boho for any change - seperation is the only choice. Money ruins things, especially great concepts. SA (and ARMA) is still very wishy-washy and tries to be all things to everyone - essentially 2 games. I mean, this company can't even make a solid viewing-perspective decision for their games, even when the choice is obvious. It should never have gone ahead with 3rd person for the SA in the first place. It speaks of the Boho's poor leadership, which continually butted heads with Dean. The game will go nowhere, much like the ingame experience.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

tl;dr - "Keep it the same, never let the two player types mix and balance it the same for both modes" that would entail balancing the entire game twice. read this excellent entry in the proper thread. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157661-third-person-view-removal-from-sa-discussion/page-65#entry1638060
  8. Look, I completely understand the 3rd person playstyle, it's more about situational awareness and how you choose to move, looking for signs etc. etc.. that's great and all. However, when it comes to actual COMBAT, it's just an exploit and a crutch (especially close combat). Sniping w/3DP is NOT a challenge in any regard whatsoever. And yes, no-one can posit facts as to why 3DP is a legitimate COMBAT viewpoint, it's always just crying and sub-moronic (lack of) reasoning. I'm also sorry for folk that get sick while playing, but you are <.01% of players and just shouldn't play video games period (maybe do some balance conditioning or change your diet or exercise or see a different optometrist.)

This is a really really bad ducking game

bro, the ACOG apparently has problems when you turn up the FOV. Take off the ACOG (p.s. you DON'T need it anyway) and get skills. I hit EVERYTHING within 300M - no Magpul. 'Yard dis thread yo!
  10. shit, you must work @ BI? it's OFFICIAL people! please refer to above post - you made the top 50 retards.
  11. 100% agree, just remove 3DP altogether = problem solved. There's only like 50 retards on the forum who don't get it anyway.
  12. *Humor* - "Bunch of slack-jawed faggots around here. This stuff (1st Person Only) will make you a god damned sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me." - Jesse "The Body" Ventura as Blain.
  13. well, removal of 3DP would probably fill two wishes. 1. Would make DayZ a proper competitive multiplayer with little to no exploiting. 2. Would make the KoS crybabies happy - because would reduce the amount of periscope spotting (A LOT). Lets face it, it's the number one problem with the game with the most benefit to the whole community, upon its removal. The only people complaining about its removal are the people who use it as a crutch and populate these forums (<1% of total players) The DayZ team needs to shed the ARMA/OFP playstyle and dictate their own. Most people really won't give a shit if 3rd person is removed altogether and WILL adapt, fast. A 'hardcore' hive just wont work. Neither will a VR DayZ + Oculus. Stop listening to these fucking 3DP CRUTCH CRYBABIES.

"Bandits" A rant about certain people

KOS is about surviving, nothing else. 'Bandits' are usually role-players who get their kicks from demeaning other players and shouting orders at them. Seriously who is worse, someone who got the drop on you - or some dick swinging wanker who tries and order you around? TIP: don't leave doors open, loot fast, hide bodies.

Zombies as a cure for KOS

I think everyone will have to be a little more patient for the zombie's to reach maximum potential. I think the aim is for several thousand dynamic z's, forest spawning and much more regulation around sound trigger radii. It WILL reduce PvP, but I think the aim with zombies in the first place was to just flush out the campers. This game is really the ultimate persistent combat simulator, which was the intention.
