Alcohol tincture and sick?

Recommended Posts

My friend and I both used an alcohol tincture to clean our wounds - having just fought a few zombies and other players - and were immedietably made hungry and sick. We both ate and cleared the hunger, but we can't get rid of the sickness? What is the cause, and what is the cure? I tried eating several antibiotics to no avail.

If you cleaned your wounds then you only helped yourself. The illness was not caused by the alcohol tincture but happened despite it. You fell ill at a coincidental moment.

Untrue. I found the exact same thing, cleaned my wounds with it, thinking it would help after getting into a brawl with some zombies... and as soon as I did. I was sick. Very strange for alcohol to do that.

I found if you aren't sick and consume antibiotics you will get sick. Overtime though, there will be a server message saying your wounds look cleaner (although I didn't have any wounds and accidently consumed those antibiotics) and eventually your sickness will be resolved on its own. Alpha....

Well, my experience is that when I was wounded, I would use the alcohol tincture to cleanse them. It would say "My wounds look cleaner." It would also say that my wounds hurt less. Eventually it would give a green message saying they were clean. If people are indeed getting sick from cleaning themselves with alcohol it will be a bug that needs fixing.

After using the alcohol it will spam "My wounds feel cleaner" ect...for about 15-20min, once it says your wounds have been healed or what not. You will no longer be sick. Im guesing that using the tincture triggers a "sick" on your character so the game knows to clean the wounds, then after a set time your wounds are cleaned and your no longer sick. More like a feature, not a bug imo.

I can confirm that you can get sick by using alcohol tincture to clean your wounds and I don't think it could be a coincidence for the 2-3 others in this thread that it happened to.

I was sure to do "clean your wounds" and not "drink" but now I am sick and don't know how to cure it.

Cleaning your wounds with alcohol tincture makes you sick, even if you were fine before.

But you will not lose any health and after 15 minutes or so the "sickness" will go away.

Probably just a bug.

I think Dean said via Twitter that it was a bug if you use it when you have no wounds. I dunno.

A little update.....

After I don't know how long, it said "Your wounds are now clean" or something to that effect and the "sick" indicator went away.

the sick icon isnt a bug, but the icon not showing until you use alcohol i think is a bug. if you get infected by a zombie and use alcohol to clean your wounds you get the sick icon to appear like it should have appeared when you first got hit, and then you get the messages telling you your wounds are cleaner/cleaned, when your wounds are fully cleaned you can begin healing naturally from a full stomach, but untill they are fully cleaned you cannot heal naturally. when your wounds are cleaned fully, and you arent at full blood, you get an icon saying "healing" in the inventory screen, then when you are full blood, you get an icon that says "healthy" in the inventory screen, though unfortunently if you get hit again and become infected it will still say "healthy" because its bugged and doesnt show you're sick till you use alcohol. That's exactly what I have experienced. I didn't know what the alcohol was used for, as I never found a bottle before. And only after using it it gave me the indicator, that I'm sick.

After using it twice and about 15 minutes later it gave me the green "My wounds are clean now." I don't exactly know if I wouldn't have been better off not using it alltogether, as I felt I forced the sick-status - but atleast I'm weelfed, healthy and not sick anymore. :)

I've noticed the same thing with charcoal tablets.  They make you sick for a while but it goes away.  They aren't supposed to make you sick.

I got that too, but my character was creaming in pain without it showing I was sick/infected. So I cleaned my wounds with alcohol, and i suddenly became "sick" ( yellow ) - But after a while with keeping my character not hungry/thirsty, I got that green notification that my wounds were cleaned and it wore off.

I had the same thing happen. My character started moaning for a while and I assumed I was infected.  Eventually took antibiotics and then the sick indicator showed up but it said my wounds looked cleaner.  It seems to be a bug with the indicator itself.

That's a leftover from the ARMA side of things I'm pretty sure. It doesn't mean anything and will happen if you're being hurt in any way - may that be Zombies or losing health by not eating / drinking.

The moaning will disappear when you relog.

Any idea how much you have to eat to get that "healing" indicator? I cleaned my wounds and ate a full can of beans and some rice and got nothing.

eat everything and drink everything you find till the message log literally says "my stomach feels full" or something along those lines, the icons that pop up on the inventory screen are only for showing you that you are actually starting to slowly die of dehydration/starvation

Won't be a problem for me to find food but I currently have around 5 cans. I'll eat them and see what that does.

It took me seven cans of food. Food seems to be similar to water in that it takes a LOT to top it off but maintaining it after that point is fairly easy.

Also, Mind Killer's explanation matches my experience exactly.

Yea i used the alcohol on a friend, then i became sick, but i was also getting the "my wounds feel better" ect. messages for a while. Ate some charcoal tablets which made my sick indicator turn darker orange. Then i took some vitamins and antibiotics and just kept out of the hunger/thirsty zone and my sickness went away in like 45 mins

This makes the most sense to me. I found antibiotics for the first time and when I consumed them not a minute later I noticed the sick indicator in the inventory. I proceeded to eat several cans of beans, finish of the antibiotics, take vitamins, and drink lots of water and soda and noticed texts showing over time saying something like my wounds hurt less until eventually it said my wounds have healed. I got infected and sick previously when I was hit by a zombie a few times but until i first took the antibiotics, the indicator was bugged and not showing. I became healthy after that. When I first got attacked, my screen color faded slightly and once 'my wounds have healed' the color of my screen began to return.
