SJKSJK 225 Posted December 19, 2013 Why would anyone use a third party map in this game like Dayzdb, etc.? Don't cheat yourself. Learn to like being lost.

creature 1189 Posted December 19, 2013 I haven't even been to the new stuff around cherno. Old habits die hard but did help me find new exciting stuff on the way to Zeleno.
Pvt Dolin 137 Posted December 19, 2013 I'd imagine that half the playerbase on SA that came from the mod should at least know 80% of the original area by now from experience. But y'know.. there's always that other cheap half that needs 24/7 guidance and knowledge of location..Oh well, no one said you had to play the game strictly for what it is. Guest Posted December 19, 2013 To be honest I imagine it can be quite scary, perhaps even a quick look to get bearing isn't a bad thing, it is very easy to end up running around in circles :P

overdosed (DayZ) 77 Posted December 20, 2013 Because when I spawned(totally new to dayz, zero map knowledge) I ended up making a full circle and got back to where I spawned wasting like an hour, because there arent enough street signs to help navigate without a map and because for some reason you have to collect map pieces to get the full map and they are rare as hell. Only managed to find one for a full day of playing with the same character after visiting 4 villages, 2 cities, 2 military camps and the airfield. And the piece that i found pretty much described the area that ive already gone through in my first hour while making that full circle. If you want realism you should be able to find a shit ton of maps at every gas station and store and atleast one map at every second house.

Pandema 352 Posted December 20, 2013 I'll be honest. I've used it to translate names from sign posts to get an idea where I am. Still managed to get lost trying to get from Vybor to the NWAF. Ended up in Starry...
Horatio 22 Posted December 20, 2013 Well personally not using anything but ingame(I play for immersion) make the game last way longer :) I'll always grow tired of any game at any rate, but not using the map I think you might be able to get more "entertaining" hours out of the game :) Learning how to navigate is part of learning how to survive, it's almost as important as any othher survival skill :) (Navigation that is)
