READ THIS - The truth on the hunger/thirst issue

Recommended Posts

Getting overfed/stuffed in apocalypse that's a joke.. Eating the huge pack of dry rice, and drinking 20 liters of water every few hours to stay alive... So realistic.

Eating simulator :)

there was an excellent post on this topic by a community member versed in survival, explaining how the metabolism changes and your energy consumption and thus, needs, rise from 2000-3000 to some 15000 calories per day under comparable conditions

with the new update there changing the food/drink system. It seems easier to know when your full. You eat until it says energized, that's when you are good then you can keep eating til the energized becomes a lighter green. Its like a color system your messages first appear a in dark color and become brighter. I like it.

being hungry has nothing to do with your stomach or food level, but with your energy... you have an energy reserve of up to 20,000 (kcal for example) and you start with aroung 1,000... if you are under 500-600 you are hungry.

But most of the things you say are right... a lot of people think they are full on energy if the messages are disappearing, but that only means you're on minimal requirements for surviving. if you eat and drink everything you find you can fill up your energy and walk/run for hours until you have to eat again.... i have never reached full energy until now but i had it very high and i didn't have to eat for more then ten hours ingame time... even with a full water'reserve' you could walk miles before you have to drink again, although you can only store 5-6k in your body... theres a nice video explaining this, but i don't know the name. This video made me rethink my playstyle and it's totally different now... with full energy you won't have to eat for up to 20 hours of ingame movement

Check this out. Very detailed and probably adjusted since the latest patch and this video is a bit old but no less informative.

Yes, I think it depends what you're doing when you're in good health.

If you're scouting and don't move around a lot - it might last several hours before u need to eat & drink again.

even if you are sprinting it would last hours before you have to eat again... drinking is another thing, since it's not energybased and sprinting needs a lot of water
