Drinking from a well without a waterbottle

So i spawned off of balota and headed north west away from the major cities in hope to find loot in smaller towns, my character began to "feel thirsty" and i began to look for a water source, 5 minutes later i found a well behind a barn,so i wondered," is it possible to drink with out a water bottle?" so i walked up to it and i did get a option to drink water! as i clicked it, nothing happened no animation(which is fine its an alpha) but no texts implying that my characters thirst was quenched, so i just assumed it was , 5 seconds later my character was thirsty again. so my question is, is the option to drink from the well without a water bottle in? or was that just a bug?

 

TLDR: is it possible to drink out of a well without a water bottle, or was the option i received to drink from the well a bug?

 

Edited: so i found another well and i was able to drink from and and my thirst was quenched, maybe just the previous well was bugged? please delete thread if possible.

I also don't seem to be able to fill my canteen at a well I also encounter the drinking error from.

I believe that that is a known issue. I have been able to fill my canteen at a pond last night, so I assume it's just certain things currentl ynot working.

 

A word of warning, though: you might get infected just drinking water like that. Safest would be to fill a canteen and then apply Purification pills. :)

In the stream Rocket explained each well has to be separately "configured" for actions. Apparenty there is one near Pavlovo that works.

Sometimes you need to drink more to quench your thirst. I had to drink 5 times from a pond until i wasn't thirsty anymore. So maybe the first worked, but you didn't drink enough from it.

Oh, allright. Because I've not been able to refill my waterbottles anywhere today (and yesterday). Maybe they need to be fully repaired?

wells don't work for me period, but water pumps do (not all, the one near Balota only lets me fill my canteen). although, there's a noticeable delay in all actions after I click a button to activate them, so I just could've been impatient when trying to get my char to drink directly from one
