Recommended Posts

quick!!! go prone inside grass!!! :o

maybe they going past don't notice car is 400 metre away and going 50 mile an hour IS NIGHT TIME AND RAIN   <_<

what this???

car stop? player get out? he shoot!!! HE SEE YOU!!! EVEN IN GRASS 3 FOOTS HIGH!!! :o

is crazy insane this bullshit and is make hide from player impossible

my idea is this one

IF you are PRONE inside LONG GRASS AREA and STAY STILL NO MOVE make so your character is STOP TO RENDER SAME TIME LONG GRASS STOP TO RENDER   ;)

if you go on the knees or standing up OR MOVE you are 100% visible like normal way

Maybe less visible, but not invisible.

Interesting idea! Maybe a cover with grass feature could be added, so you can hide yourself better. - Then again that's kinda where the Ghillie comes in handy.

We definitly need a solution for it, but going invisible. is not a good idea imho, as a guy with a scope should still be able to see you. Or a scout chopper. Some guy made BI a very good proposition on how to make players more hidden, but I am not sure how it worked. Does anyone know what I am talking about? It acctually got added to some kind of bug/suggestion tracking of BI, but I don't know the link. (some one please help me ;) )

Remove 3P then they will never see what they shouldn't have seen in the first place...that's the only solution for the "problem".

I agree go invisible is not good way but is better this than after you going prone inside long grass guy see you no problem from 1 km away

EVEN WITH GHILLIE SUITS >:(

This is no fantasy game with invisibel players. :P

I don´t like the grass problem also, but this solution is no solution.

The solution was from Rocket serverside grass options. There are some servers for "ultra high end pc´s".

I don't have no ultra high end pc :|

rocket say he make prone FIRST PERSON ONLY in standalone   ;)

if you going prone in long grass is not possible for you make abuse because you seeing only grass :P

so is no way for abuse

point is guys have option for HIDE this is important for game like dayz

if they need to look around they need to go on the knees and this way every guy see them

make so if prone guy is moving he become visible also, only guy who go prone NO MOVE is hide from view :)

like real life

What we need is an improved grass layer. So not only will the character partly sink into the ground at distance but there will also be some blur and transparency applied as well. That along with the improved lighting of DayZ SA would solve the issue with practically no performance hit.

some guys having problem with word 'invisible'

me too I don't like this word :|

but look at arma engine, everything going invisible at some distance ;)

house go invisible

loot go invisible

trees going invisible

player already going invisible at long distance

and also grass going invisible and this make punish for guys who try use REAL LIFE STRATEGY of hide

so forget word invisible

make so prone no move player is not render same time long grass don't render   ;)

Removing 3rd person would only help when the terrain is flat. If the guy is on the side of a hill and you are lower, then you will still see him over the grass. Im more a fan of increasing grass draw to a reasonable amount. I know 3rd person gets abused, but I don't wanna see it go. I like being able to see my toon, my new weapon or backpack. STALKER was a game that I felt was ruined by no 3rd person. I kept getting all this cool gear with no way to actually see it on my toon.

Don't think making us invisible is the solution tho, a hawk eyed player should still be able to spot from distance if they get lucky :)

They should test how far grass can be rendered, since you use magnification they should just increase the draw distance so you can't see targets far away. Removing 3rd P would give players on foot an advantage of being more difficult to detect so you only see what you see through your window and not what is hiding behind any kind of wall or use reverse crest/slope as a peeping measure. We had the problem that tankers were so used to 3rd P they didn't want to give it up and even argued why they had to give up their superior god view so infantry could hide from them, fact: they didn't want to give infantry a chance to kick them in the butt. IRL you would have heavy infantry blow up a solo tank in urban combat, not so in ArmA where the tanker can see everything and of course is driver, gunner and commander in one person...

Another solution is a blend in effect..but if your camo doesn't match your surrounding like in e47s first pic it will not blend. Imo ghillies should be more effective at medium to farther ranges because you can see "something lying there" that looks weird up close and up to a certain distance. You might not be able to identify it but it's not impossible to spot.

I'm hoping they go with something like this http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?148861-Rendering-grass-at-long-distances-My-thoughts-about-it

Basically just add a grass texture to all distant players, breaking up the straight line you get when a player is just sunk into the ground.

That would definitely make people a bit harder to pick out at a distance but not impossible. As it is the Ghillie colors don't match the "default" colors of the ground very well and so the demarcation line is often really visible. Up close it would help a bit but not as much. It is a bit backwards that you are sometimes more difficult to see up close than you are when you are far away.

Third person is awfull you can look out behind cover and see people without being in danger, sure its good for walking around but with pvp its just over powerd.

They are going to remove 3rd player view when proned, but I'm afraid driving vehicles with 3dp on will give you an extreme view advantage as in Arma series, as well as other anoying 3dp camera advantages.

I hope there will be enough first person only servers and they implement arma 3 new player stances, these stances are really useful playing in first person mode and improves stealth and helps you remain hidden a lot.
