Zombie Fan seeks help installing due to borderline retardedness with PC's (apparently)

Recommended Posts

Hello remaining survivors, this is my first post, apologies for crying for help as an introduction to this forum.
As a disclaimer I have very primitive knowledge of PC's, so if anyone is kind enough to help, speak slowly and no big words.
I purchased a copy of Arma II: Complete Collection yesterday through Steam. After downloading it, I immediately began installing the components necessary to set up DayZ, i have had numerous problems plague my progress.

As recommended by Steam, i needed to install both Arma II and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead, which i did, in order to facilitate the DayZ mod.

A pop-up came up, informing me that i had a write down activation key’s for both Operation Arrowhead and Army of the Czech Republic (which although it was claimed to be in the complete collection, i did not receive it in the pack). At no point has there been an instance, that i have had the opportunity to apply the key, even to Operation Arrowhead, even after thorough searching.

My second problem, is seeing as it isnt necessary to actually have Army of the Czech Republic to play DayZ, i pushed on to try and just get the game running. So i installed the DayZ Mod, and attempted to load it up.
An error tab pops-up on my screen, diplaying Error Message: CA_CommunityConfigurationProject_E, upon researching what this problem is, its apparently that the British Armed Forces expansion pack needs to be installed (which it already is) to run DayZ

I can get the basic Arma 2 game running no problems, but now if i try to open Operation Arrowhead, or any of the other expansions to double check they are all properly activated, it automatically goes to the DayZ mod (which i obviously cant use).

I have installed DayZ commander, in preparation, but I am at a loss of where to go from here.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thankyou

First of all you should launch the games, ARMA 2 & ARMA 2: OA, once via steam then exit them. Next use DayZCommander to join DayZ servers. Click on 'install/update' which is in the top right corner next to donate, like, follow etc.. Check if everything is up to date, if something displays in red it's either corrupt or not installed yet. Next go to the settings tab and check if your game directories are correct.

Also, if ARMA: OA fails to start up the original game and goes directly to DayZ. Check your launch parameters. Right click on the game in steam game tab -> properties -> launch parameters. The box has to be empty so delete if anything is written in it. Then close and try again to launch via DayZCommander.

Good luck, if you still got problems reply again.

beans for a humble, polite, well written help request. glad to hear your problem has been sorted. NEVER be afraid to ask for help - or ask anything for that matter. not asking is the dumb way.

Welcome to the community - its always good to see new people find their way into Chernarus - and welcome to DayZ.

(oh, and dont get attached to your gear)
