Zombie Speed Suggestion

How about speeds of zombies be varied instead of all the same? This way there'd be some that'd be easy to out maneuver and others that would be hot on your 6 until you manage to evade them somehow.

While I can't be sure of it, I thought this was something that was stated to be in the SA. I could be wrong though.

Oh, I agree with you to a point (although I would point out that there are many things I'd like to change about DayZ, just not this particular part of it), and of course the natural response would be that obviously DayZ isn't quite there for you right now, and you'd be looking to make those changes in order to make it your own winning formula.

Let's not forget that this is a community that absolutely lost it's shit because the mod had a few shoutouts to forum moderators/reddit mods in the form of 'branded' food cans. That shit raged on for weeks, and it made not a jot of difference to the way the game's played. The DayZ community is pretty prone to hissy fits.

Then if that is the case, how about the idea that this is pre-alpha/alpha and such a thing can be tested and kept if players like it or discarded if such a 'hissy fit' takes place. 

 

Isn't that was alpha is for? Testing?

Indeed it is - you know that and I know that, but sadly 95% of the playerbase don't. And they're the ones that will kick up the huge stink about something like this, meaning it'd never get a fair crack of the whip anyway. Within hours, this place and Reddit would be packed to the brim with 'It's different so it sucks now' and 'DayZ = RUINED 4 EVAR!!!!!11!' posts. Sadly these days many gamers don't understand exactly what an Alpha is and what that means. I can't bring myself to even think about what this place is going to be like when the standalone is released in an alpha state. *sigh*

I agree 100% that's why dean is been so careful and is hoping he doesn't have a huge number of players to begin with for this reason. Their will always be haters has they don't understand what an alpha really is of it had no bugs and doesn't crash it's a full release,

While I read all the posts to this topic, I keep thinking that the problem in dayz sa will be too many players. Too many to realisticaly surve after an alocalypse situation. Too many that zs will become just a hindrance, (if not a tool to spot other players etc). Too many that the presence of a car will cause resentment from all not driving it. Too many that u will end up running towards them/away from them, or camping in wait for them (other players).

It shouldn't be like this. Advancing by foot at a z-infested world should be fraught with suspence (zs more dangerous/alert/cunning aggressive). Walking might be less boring then, and no need for the marathon.

Meeting another player should be rare and present opportunities for interaction (big big big map, co op needs for constructing, repairing, healing, etc). Along with equipment damage that is implemented, it could perhaps lead to less kos?

Did I digress?...

Well, ignoring specifics like 75% or 80% or whatever, the main idea I see in this topic is "make zombies able to catch tired players".

 

Sure, why not? There's no suspense at all if you can hold down W and watch your player outrun zeds until the end of time like he's Forrest Gump. They should be able to actually overtake and catch people who are exhausted or injured, that would be fun.

The whole zombie mechanic is bullshit. They can see you no matter where you are, behind walls etc. or how stealthy you try to be, like prone or crawling. in fact trying to be stealthy is just not on the cards full stop. Pointless.

Then when you are seen and start killing them, there is an endless, and I really mean endless, supply of z respawns, as soon as you wipe them out. I swear I killed over 80 at Cherno hospital.

They need to be totally avoidable BUT if they see you, much more agressive, do more damage and are harder to kill. This would give a great boost to the tension in the game

This endless line of zombies thing is crap.

And if its and different in the SL I'll eat my boots. With a side salad.

I hate these "Classical" zombies. Romero Zombies aren't the "Original" zombie. Look up the original definition of "Zombie". If DayZ had Slow Zeds I'd hack this game out of frustration. If they put slow zeds in, it wouldn't be DayZ. It be DayG, Day Geezer, because that's what walkers are, stupid, blind, slow, old geezers who forget to take their medication...
